Treasure of a property

  • 5 of 5

Place was great and convenient to the park. We enjoyed the grill, patio, hot tub, and living area. Beds were very comfortable. We would stay again.

Lots of space and amenities = Lots of FUN!

  • 5 of 5

My group of friends and I had a great time. Loved the hot tub, grill and out door space. Plenty of towels and bedding which is always great. Lots of storage areas which were useful. Only negatives were the various cob webs and the challenging uphill road to the house. Would stay there again as it is also very convenient if visiting Yosemite.

Yosemite Cabin

  • 4 of 5

This cabin fit our needs very well, 3 couples and a single riding Harley's. Beds were good for all, kitchen was good, BBQ worked very well (Really hot), deck was nice to eat on and hang out and use for a bar. Hot tub was a bit swampy but we managed to get some product in it and it was fine. Gravel hill is steep and loose gravel but managible. Keep trash inside as we had critters and they like wine...

Great place to stay close to Yosemite.

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay near Yosemite and with more amenities than most places we have stayed. We ate many of our evening meals on the deck after the temperature cooled down. Two great places to swim in the nearby Merced. Saw coveys of California quail at the cabin.

Best Yosemite launching point!

  • 5 of 5

Approximately 8 miles to the entrance and 20 minutes to Yosemite Valley, Hite's Hideout was the perfect home base for our trip to the park! The house was perfect for our two families, 4 adults and 3 kids. Our plan to stock up on groceries while in Fresno served us well for our 5 days at the house. The market in El Portal was remarkably well stocked though the expected mark up can put a dent in the budget. The house is well appointed with plenty of towels, dishes, pots and pans. I would only suggest paper products and soap products be replenished before each visit as we were without some of these items for the short term.

We enjoyed our nights on the deck thoroughly. The proximity to the park seemed unmatched by any other home/rental/campsite/etc. Hite's Hideout is a gem and highly recommended!!!

In short if I make it back to Yosemite I will check this houses availability 1st.

In short if I make it back to Yosemite I will check this houses availability first. The photos don't even do it justice. We stayed with 4 adults and 3 kids and there was loads of room both interior and exterior.

The proximity to the park is perfect; Closer than Mariposa, but not in with the crowds of Yosemite boundaries.

We arrived at the height of the Mariposa/Detwiler forest fire after a 6 hour detour. The Cedar lodge staff just down the hill from the house were calm, gentle and so helpful. They contacted the caretaker for our property who got the house's generator up and running (electricity had been cut to the entire region for safety of firefighters). We were fortunate the owners of this house had the forethought to have a generator. So many around us had no electric or phone.

Great outdoor spaces to explore right at the house without having to drive to Yosemite if you want a change or just don't want to drive one day.
