Brian Hetzel purchased this estate in 2014
A rather large property that was in need of some T.L.C. ! It is the first property we looked at 3 years ago this month, while on holiday in 2012.. It lingered on the market due to it size and the amount of work needed to bring it back. Built in the late 1960's and after looking at it, we just knew it was too big for just the two of us. When we returned in 2014 we looked at over 60 houses for sale but none had the charm and character that this house has. It is well off the main road in a quiet neighbourhood, has a view to die for and is East of Hamilton. It is close to my golf club, not that I've had much time for golf as of late! We've been very busy restoring this, "oldish" sort of LADY. It has truly been a labour of love so to speak. We've still lots to do on our side of the house but the suite and the apartment are now looking first class. The pool area has been completely redone as have all the decks and outdoor space. Our friends just love it and we are certain you will too!.
Close to the Airport, so NO $70 or $80 cab fare. Approximate fare $25
Half way between Hamilton and St. George. 15 min to Hamilton 20 min to St. George.
Off the main road.
Free dedicated Laundry, plus ironing facility.
Walk to the beach 5 min.
Supermarket 3 min. away.
Golf 5 min away.
Churches 3 to 7 min away.
Restaurants 4, within 7 min.
Fishing of the rocks, 5 min. walk.
Tennis, Squash, Golf driving range plus putting mats.
Lovely indoor/outdoor pool with Chaise Lounges, umbrellas and tables.
If you're a B & B guest you'll be amazed at your Breakfast.
AND..... LAST BUT NOT LEAST, INEKE & BRIAN AS YOUR HOSTS.
We cannot say enough good things about Brian and Ineke's hospitality. We stayed in the B&B for six nights and did not want to leave! The property has gorgeous views and is very close to John Smith's Bay Beach. Most days we had the beach to ourselves which was even better. The pictures do not do the unit justice. It is extremely clean and bright. And the breakfast.......WOW! Delicious and filling. Brian also helped us to obtain reservations at restaurants and went out of his way to drive us to dinner. We also enjoyed sipping on Brian's rum swizzles and chatting by the pool. Brian and Ineke went above and beyond our expectations going into this vacation. We highly recommend staying at Brian and Ineke's. We are already looking forward to our return!
Wow! From the moment we arrived at the property and were met by Brian and Ineke, we were pampered and treated like kings and queens. The 2 suites were tidy and clean and well stocked, and the property is GORGEOUS! (perfect for 4 of us as my wife and I had the 1 BR apartment and my college age girls had the B&B suite, so we each had our own space). We were most impressed with the unbelievable breakfast that Brian served every day. Trust me folks, Brian knows what he is doing, having been in the hotel industry the better part of his life, and owning and running a couple places in Bermuda! You would be making a big mistake not to get the breakfast. What wonderful hosts they are! We were delighted to share Ineke's birthday with her as well. Brian is very helpful and knows all the places to eat, and even made our arrangements for restaurant reservations and cab drivers, as needed. He even drove us to the store a couple times! This is by far the best place I have ever stayed at at ANY of the 6 islands I have visited. We rented scooters for 4 (of the 8) days and visited all the major south shore beaches and also saw the aquarium/zoo (well worth it!) and motored up to St. Georges one day for lunch at Wahoo Grill, yum! (I recommend the scooters for a few days to get the "real feel" of the island but be very careful, watch your mirrors a lot for impatient motorcycles and cars passing you, and pull over at bus stops to let traffic pass). We even took a day trip (cab to Hamilton, then ferry over) to the Royal Dockyard and my girls swam with the Dolphins. What an experience! Folks, Bermuda is a beautiful, clean, safe island and the folks are very friendly. Top it off with a visit to this beautiful estate, and the warmth and hospitality that the Hetzel's provide, and you have yourself an award winning vacation! And how can I forget the amenities! The pool is AMAZING! Tennis, driving range and squash court all right there at your fingertips! Well done Brian and Ineke, count on us being back! Cheers, Gary and Mary and Girls.
WOW! Brian & Ineke were such amazing people! We were so happy to have met them!!! We found out that Brian makes the best Rum Swizzles on the island too! The Bed and Breakfast was so fancy, clean, and more than we expected! We had amazing views of John Smith's Bay. Wonderful sunrises! The pool was such an added bonus for us! This island stole my heart for sure! This was my second time visiting Bermuda, but my fiance's first & even he fell in love with everything! He loved fishing! I loved snorkeling! The turtles were my favorite! So many beaches to go to! Cliff jumping was so adventurous! Brian & Ineke really made this trip a dream come true! We will be back, and I mean that! Thank you Brian & Ineke for such a fantastic week! You have made it hard for all of us to be back home, that's for sure!!!
My daughter and I had the good fortune to stay at this lovely place. As other reviews have said, it is meticulously maintained, beautiful, quiet, and well run by Brian and Ineke. Brian and Ineke are very welcoming, hospitable, gracious, and wonderful hosts. The pictures are exactly what the place and accommodations look like. We enjoyed our chats with Brian and Ineke, learned about the local culture and history of the island while getting great information about the "must do's" of the island. Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for Brian and Ineke we could only rent for 4 nights and then went off to a "resort" beach. We certainly missed Brian's great breakfasts and the personal touch we received while staying at Watch Hill. We highly recommend staying here and we look forward to our return, hopefully sooner rather than later.

We are seriously going through Bermudian withdrawal right now. Our stay with Brian and Ineke was perfect. Clean and comfortable accommodations, delicious homemade breakfast (and great conversation with Brian!), refreshing Rum Swizzle's and the best secret island recommendations from a true local. We can't wait to come back and visit this wonderful island and kind couple. Brian is a truly caring and hospitable host, who helped take our vacation to the next level. The only thing we would change would be to see Ineke a little bit more - she is so sweet ;).
This place is quiet, comfortable and super clean, truly one of the best places I have ever stayed in anywhere. The owners are attentive, caring and have extensive knowledge on Bermuda. Everything inside and outside the house is meticulously maintained. The location is great and just a few minutes from the bus, the beach, a park and a nature preserve. But the pool is so nice you won't want to go anywhere! I can't wait to go back.
Watch Hill Manor is located in a very quiet area of Smith's Parish which is well off the main road. The neighbourhood is up-market and has very nice surroundings and stunning views.
It is very central to Hamilton and the town of St. George. We have 3 bus routes that pass by the house, all within 3 to 5 min walk from the gate.
Beaches, supermarkets, churches, restaurants, golf all within minutes away by moped.
Spittal Pond Nature Reserve is a 10 min walk away where one can meander along viewing flower and fauna, birds, and wild life. One can also see the Parrot Fish feeding on the reef and in Spring whales just out off of the reef line.
