|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
For the winter, this lakeside Berkshire retreat is close to skiing and has all the amenities that a family could need. In the middle of winter, the ice on the lake can be thick enough for skating. It's fifteen minutes from Catamount ski hill, which is an excellent hill with runs that are suitable for beginners to advanced skiers. One thing we love about the hill is that they have the best instructors out of the many New York area ski hills, and they have a couple magic carpets, which is perfect for kids who are learning to ski. We bought this house not only because the lake is incredible from the spring to fall, but also because we love this ski hill so much. As a bonus, in the fall and summer, the hill has this incredible ropes course. Furthermore, we have someone come to shovel the snow if you're at our house when it's snowing. If you have kids, we have extra ski gear that you can borrow for them if it fits.
Designed to be comfortable and homey, our house has three bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with a double bed. We also have a double futon in the living room upstairs and a comfortable fold-out sofa bed downstairs. The house can accommodate ten people and it's suitable for kids. It has large, comfortable beds with new bedding, plenty of games, a large front lawn and a fire pit, which is fun at any time of the year.
For people looking for rentals from the spring to fall, we are located on the lake, one house away from the community beach and dock, which is lots of fun for kids. Also, the water near our house is deeper and has fewer weeds than other areas around the lake; residents around Robinson Pond come to our area to swim. Guests can use the two kayaks, a rowboat, paddleboat, life jackets and fishing rods.
In terms of cleanliness, we hire professional cleaners before and after your stay. We also have all dressers cleared for your use, as well as hangers for all of your clothes. We don't like clutter when we rent a place, so we don't have clutter in our place. You'll find you have plenty of places to put your things.
Our house comes with a full kitchen upstairs, and a refrigerator, sink, microwave and washer/dryer downstairs. The kitchen is fully stocked with multiple appliances, plates, cups, utensils, and spices. We also have towels, sheets and blankets for your use.
We live in Brooklyn, NY, where we work as writers and we wanted a place that would be a fun and creative retreat for us to escape the city. We love this place. It's so relaxing and incredible beautiful. Our favorite moments are sitting on the deck, drinking coffee in the morning, or watching the sunset at night. Our kids play for hours outside, and everyone sleeps so deeply. We've found our creativity getting super-charged and we return to the city rejuvenated.
Kim Purcell purchased this house in 2015
Robinson Pond is special because there are no speed boats allowed. This means nobody waking you up first thing with the sound of jet skis. It also means you can swim peacefully without worrying that you'll be run over by someone who's looking backwards at their water-skier. If you like water-skiing, you can drive to Copake Lake ten minutes away and rent a ski boat for a couple hours and then return to your peaceful lake.
In the winter, we are close to ski resorts...we're fifteen minutes from Catamount and we're 30 minutes from Butternut.
We also love this property because we're on the right side of the lake to watch the sunsets. It's also very quiet in the morning and at night, which has been amazing for sleep.
Unlike some properties, you can swim right from our dock because we have few weeds. The swim-ability of a lake house is super important and we lucked out on this one...we didn't think to ask when we bought, but it turned out that we're in the good part of the lake. We have all kinds of fun boats - two kayaks, a rowboat and a paddleboat...as well as a gigantic duck.
Because we just bought this house in summer 2015, the rugs, the bedding, the dishes, the pots, nearly everything except for the actual furniture is new. This cuts back on the yucky factor of some rentals. We rented for years, so we know that it can be unpleasant. For that reason, we also have little clutter. There are large dressers in all the rooms to store clothing and belongs.
Furthermore, we have special amenities, like central a/c, and a washer and dryer, which is necessary for a lake-house with all the going in and out of the lake. On top of all that, there is a pool table downstairs and an X-Box for rainy days. So much fun.
If you'd like to have friends visit, or you want to share this house, downstairs has a separate refrigerator and microwave. This also makes it much easier when prepping for bigger gatherings.
We rented this house for 4 nights with a handful of our friends. There were a total of 9 of us, and there was a place for everyone to sleep. The house is beautiful, the view from the deck is amazing, and everything is provided in case you forgot something. The owner is very nice and responsive. There are so many things to do - paddle boats, kayaks, a fire pit, DVDs, video games, books, and even toys if you bring kids. We absolutely would stay here again, we had a wonderful time!
We stayed here for a week in late September. From the initial communication, Kim was a pleasure to work with. She was prompt with her responses, provided a ton of information about the area and was just so accommodating from booking all the way through checkout. The house was clean with an unobstructed view of the lake and a lot of nice updates including the kitchen. The owners have stocked the house with so many amenities, we could've kept ourselves busy without leaving the house all week but we did venture out to take advantage of some good hiking trails and cute towns/shops in the area as well. Thanks Kim!
The lake house was as advertised. Clean, and very well stocked. A nice comfortable stay with beautiful lake views. We enjoyed the boats and pool table as well. The owner was very nice and very prompt to respond to emails. We were pleased with our decision to rent this house.
Long before we hit the road, I knew this would be a great vacation because of all the thoughtful notes provided about the area. The house is lovely, so welcoming, and laid out so well for relaxing or entertaining. Since I love to cook, I was thrilled to have such a well appointed kitchen; but for those meals we chose to eat out, we gratefully and successfully relied on the welcome packet. Our daily adventures in the area were also plotted on those notes, which lead us to great hikes and wonderful waterfalls. We were lucky to have perfect weather, and thus enjoyed paddling around the pond every day and swimming to the raft, and then returning to the house to relax on the deck and watch the fish leap until the stars came out. his was our favorite rental in all the years we have been vacationing.
At our property, we have two kayaks, a rowboat, and a paddleboat which you can use. There's also a new swimming pool and gym nearby which anyone can use. Kids are free, adults pay 2 dollars.

You will have to sign a basic contract for the property that we need for the homeowner's association, just basic safety stuff about the rules of the lake.
