About Robin and Kathy Rafiner

My wife and I are from Kansas City, Missouri. I was in sales and the Army Reserves for many years. My wife was in the medical field for her career. We enjoy visiting and meeting with US and worldwide visitors. The fun is introducing them to the hidden gems of Saint Petersburg and the surrounding areas..

Robin and Kathy Rafiner purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Robin and Kathy Rafiner chose Florida

We discovered the area after many trips to Florida and found it beautiful and convenient to other destinations around the state. Rest with short walks or bike rides around the Ol' Northeast or explore and see so many natural activities within an hour or less drive of our home. Memories at the beaches, manatees, dolphins, sail boating, sports facilities, cruising, fishing, biking, walking, boating, SUP, kayaking, restaurants, and wineries.

What makes this apartment unique

One block away is the most beautiful walking and biking trail that you can take every morning. Every day is a new adventure or sight. You can have chance meetings with dolphins, manatees, ducks, turtles, along with all the birds. You will find downtown St. Petersburg alive and growing with excitement. It feels like a small town within a big city. Oh, and Tampa is provides great half day or whole day trips.

Home away from home

We arrived for the Labor Day weekend to visit with family and were extremely happy with the apartment that Robin and Kathy have remodeled. We were able to adjust and make it feel like home very quickly even though we were only in town for a few days. Staying close to family was the main benefit as we brought our 18 mo to see his cousins for the first time.

Lovely hosts - great apartment - great location

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 5 and stayed at this cute apartment for one week in August 2016. Would have loved to stay longer.

Robin and Kathy are the most hospitable people. They offered their help all the time and on a rainy day Robin even put a huge umbrella for our family in front of our door. Such a nice gesture.

The apartment is beautifully furnished and extremely clean. Everything you need was cared for. On arrival there was even water in the fridge, fresh ice cubes and supplies for coffee. The appliances seemed to be brand-new.

We would love to come back to this perfect place very soon. :-)

Great Space, needed quickly!

  • 5 of 5

Our house was being remodeled and we needed a place during the remodel. Being local we knew this was a great, safe location for our two young boys and close to everything we use currently in our day to day lives. We found the retreat to be clean, close to the shops and enough space for all. Our boys thought we were on a sleep over and were sad at check out :)

A wonderful home base for Spring Break with the family!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four, with two teenaged boys, spent five nights in this charming apartment over Spring Break. We highly recommend it! It is a perfect home base for spending time at the beautiful beaches nearby or exploring attractions in St. Pete and Tampa. We really appreciated having Trader Joe's and The Fresh Market within a short walk. The kitchen was spotless and well equipped, so we could easily prepare quick meals and picnics. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

The Perfect Place in St. Pete!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with VRBO and it was fabulous!

Upon arrival we discovered the personalized welcome sign on the door and knew we were going to have a great time! The pictures show just how cute and cozy the apartment is. It was very clean and well stocked with a variety of much appreciated start-up supplies. Beds were very comfortable with nice linens. Neighborhood was beautiful with charming brick streets and mature trees. It was quiet, filled with friendly people...and the relaxing sounds of happy, chirping birds.

We loved the location! As northerners, we were desperately seeking outdoor time and sunshine. We were not disappointed! We walked and/or biked the beautiful North Bay Trail at least once per day. It is literally 2 blocks away. We saw manatees on a number of occasions, dolphins, turtles, fish, otters, and even stingrays! We walked into downtown, to dinner at The Old Northeast Tavern, to the Saturday Morning Market, Trader Joe's...and so many other wonderful and interesting places. The binder that Robin and Kathy created is filled with recommendations for all sorts of things in the area. We investigated as many of them as we could and were never steered wrong.

We loved having access to the bikes! Complete with basket and horn, they added so much enjoyment to our time in St. Pete. It's a very bike friendly city, with proper bike lanes and a wonderful trail system. We used the bikes a lot. Our time wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable without them!

We had never been to St. Petersburg before and didn't really know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at the "cool, hip vibe" of the area. Lots of exciting things to do and see...and lots of great restaurants to try!

Finally, Robin and Kathy were amazing hosts! They are good people with ready laughs. We enjoyed our interactions with them as they always left us smiling.

We hope to be able to visit again, but are afraid it might be difficult to book The Relaxing Remodel once the word gets out about how absolutely wonderful and relaxing it is!
