|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This lovely house is more than a house; it’s a family vacation home. The minute you walk in, you will feel it. This home has more accommodations then you are used to seeing in a rental. We want you to have the same experience as we do each and every time we spend time there.
The downstairs has beautiful wood floors with the exception of the bedrooms, those rooms are carpeted. There are 2 air conditioners; one for upstairs and one downstairs, this helps keep the house very comfortable. Ceiling fans are in every room, 3 in the vaulted ceiling living area. We have overhead lighting in all the rooms along with lamps. House has a water softener along with filtration system.
The heart of the home seems to be the kitchen and dining area. This kitchen has everything you could possibly need including; food processor, blender, mixer, several electric skillets and many gadgets to help make food prep easy, so you’ll have more time to play. The kitchen is equipped with a trash compactor that can hold several days’ worth of trash. This helps with the trash emptying chore. There is a large ice maker built into the center island which helps when you’re packing those coolers to spend the day down on the dock or out on the river. When you return from your day at play, your ice is replenished. This is truly one of the favorites of the home.
The dining room has a large wooden table that seats up to 8 and additional 4 can sit at the bar. This table has hosted many meals, conversations and game nights with friends and family. This is the center of the home and the heart of it too.
The living room has leather sofas and a couple chairs along with 2 bean bags for lounging around. For your entertainment pleasure there is a wide screen TV, satellite dish, DVD player, stereo with surround sound and internet. There is a landline phone. There is an extra-large DVD library. The center of the living area has a beautiful wood burning fireplace which is special during those cold winter nights.
There is a guest bath off the living room and it’s equipped with an “old fashioned claw foot tub”, sink and toilet.
The two downstairs bedrooms have king size beds with extra linens, pillows and blankets. Each bedroom has a TV and the “blue” room has a gaming system along with games. There are 3 air mattresses and the rooms provide plenty of floor space to use them. The two bedrooms share a fully equipped bathroom that has a bathtub/shower combo, large vanity, sink and toilet. There are plenty of towels and wash cloths and a blow dryer. In the closet you’ll find plenty of family fun board games to entertain the entire family.
The Master suite upstairs is exactly that, a SUITE. This is one of those “must see to believe rooms” This room has a king size bed that looks small in comparison to the size of the room. There is a sitting area that includes a couch and three recliners. There is a large screen TV with DVD player. This room has plenty of floor space to sleep several people comfortably on air mattresses. The master bath is elegant for a house in the middle of the woods. It has an extra-large walk in shower, large garden tub, large vanity and a separate toilet room. Several people can be getting ready in this large bathroom and have plenty of space. . When you wake up in the morning and walk through those double doors to head down stairs, you have a beautiful view from the extra-large windows; of the river and the tops of the trees. It’s truly amazing. It’s a beautiful way to start your day.
The outside of the house has a breathtaking view of the river and trees. Underneath the house is a concrete slab with a extra large picnic table, wooden swing and patio chairs. A sidewalk leads to the outdoor shower that is a "favorite" by ALL guests. It's totally private and large enough to hang your towel and clothes without getting wet. There is a bench in it as well. There's something about showering and looking up at the beautiful sky and trees. The sidewalk also leads down to the dock where the real fun begins. Whether you plan to play around in the water or take your water craft out, there is plenty of room for it all. Kids have been running and jumping from this dock for 27 years (not really , this dock was rebuilt and made bigger about 7 years ago) you get my point. Plenty of room to tie up several water crafts. Depending on the river height sometimes we even have a beach.
Their is plenty of yard to get a family softball game going or a number of other lawn games that are available on site. Or, you may just want to lay in the hammock and soak in the beauty and listen to the occasional boat go by. There is something for everyone. For the furry family members there is plenty of nice maintained dirt roads to walk and explore. Our house is in a nice friendly neighborhood where you don't have to see anyone if you don't want or you can stroll the roads and pick up a friendly conversation with some of the locals. The boat ramp is a 1/2 mile down the road and makes for an enjoyable stroll.
I hope I have painted an image in your mind that you find too irresistible to pass up, you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it!
We brought our children to the Suwanee River year after year while they were growing up. It became a favorite. When our children grew and started having families of their own we wanted the tradition to continue. We have a place that has kept our family connected through the years. We have spent many holidays and long weekends here. Our grandchildren are now becoming adults and still want to come and share time with their families here. This house has provided many memories for so many people. We can only hope that you and your guests will get the same joy that we have experienced all these years. You will feel and see the love that has nurtured this property.
We had such a great time, thank you for sharing your home with us. My grandson had a wonderful time fishing and even went boat riding with the neighbor next door and the kids that were visiting them. We will be back. Our three friends that came and spent one night with us could not believe what a beautiful place it was. I stayed in the upstairs bedroom and everyone that looked at it said I was staying in the wrong room. They were wondering when the president was coming over. We had a great time. Thanks again for everything.
I surprised my wife with a long weekend at the river house for her birthday. It was perfect. The house and property were both stunning. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some peaceful r&r. We really enjoyed the view of the river from the porch and catching catfish off the dock. Cell service did not work(best feature of the house), but house has wifi to allow wifi calling. Kitchen was equipped for anything we wanted to cook. We are going to try and schedule another trip this summer. We really enjoyed our time on the river.
Loved the property! It was a beautiful river view to wake up to every morning. The property caretakers were top notch. We had some car issues and Russ came right over to help us. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
We had the best family vacation. Kids from 5 to 19 all equally had the best time. The house is beautiful and the property was stunning. We absolutely will return but for a much longer stay next time!
The property gave us a great location and plenty of room to gather for our family. House was great, and the area gave us more options than we had time to take advantage of.
Wonderful location with plenty to do!
We absolutely LOVED the Malecot River House. We gathered with a large group of friends to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. It was so good to have everyone together for the weekend under one roof (more or less, as we rented the bunk house as well ;) We were able to see friends that we hadn't seen in ages and really catch up with one another and create some lasting memories!
The kitchen was spacious and fully equipped, the living room was cozy yet grand at the same time. It felt like we were in a tree house! The spacious deck around the house was SO enjoyable, we bbq'd twice :) The living room/dining area had plenty of room for everyone to sit and eat and play games. The large T.V in the living room was perfect for us to all enjoy the Olympic games in the evening.
The beds were all very comfortable and had nice linens on them which is very appreciated when on vacation. The master bedroom is GIANT and the bathroom is incredible! We loved the openness of the walk in shower. The weekend simply went by too fast, didn't get to check out the Jacuzzi tub, but it looked so inviting!
The only thing that would have made our time here any better would have been if the water level was high enough for the dock, or if maybe the dock extended out farther into the water. It isn't a floating dock so when water levels are low the drop from the main part of the dock to the water is about 6 feet. There are some stairs that step down so if you are putting a kayak in the water it would be doable but the water was only a foot or two high right around the dock. Clearly there is nothing one can do about the height of the river but if you anticipate long days on the dock diving into the water you'll have to come up with a different plan :) What we did was go to "Bob's River Place" which you HAVE to check out if you find yourself at the Malecot River home. It is so uniquely Florida and the perfect way to enjoy the river and cool down. At $25 per car for up to 6 people we though it was very reasonable.
Our friends who stayed in the bunkhouse found it very comfortable and it was great that we were able to have so many friends join us from all over the state! Julie was so wonderful and available when making preparations as well as encouraging as it is hard to organize a large event for so many different people!
Overall we had a magnificent time, our only regret is not booking longer! 3 nights was just not enough :)
Directions and location can easily be found on Google Maps by searching Malecot River House
