Overview

About the property

This lovely house is more than a house; it’s a family vacation home. The minute you walk in, you will feel it. This home has more accommodations then you are used to seeing in a rental. We want you to have the same experience as we do each and every time we spend time there.

The downstairs has beautiful wood floors with the exception of the bedrooms, those rooms are carpeted. There are 2 air conditioners; one for upstairs and one downstairs, this helps keep the house very comfortable. Ceiling fans are in every room, 3 in the vaulted ceiling living area. We have overhead lighting in all the rooms along with lamps. House has a water softener along with filtration system.

The heart of the home seems to be the kitchen and dining area. This kitchen has everything you could possibly need including; food processor, blender, mixer, several electric skillets and many gadgets to help make food prep easy, so you’ll have more time to play. The kitchen is equipped with a trash compactor that can hold several days’ worth of trash. This helps with the trash emptying chore. There is a large ice maker built into the center island which helps when you’re packing those coolers to spend the day down on the dock or out on the river. When you return from your day at play, your ice is replenished. This is truly one of the favorites of the home.

The dining room has a large wooden table that seats up to 8 and additional 4 can sit at the bar. This table has hosted many meals, conversations and game nights with friends and family. This is the center of the home and the heart of it too.

The living room has leather sofas and a couple chairs along with 2 bean bags for lounging around. For your entertainment pleasure there is a wide screen TV, satellite dish, DVD player, stereo with surround sound and internet. There is a landline phone. There is an extra-large DVD library. The center of the living area has a beautiful wood burning fireplace which is special during those cold winter nights.

There is a guest bath off the living room and it’s equipped with an “old fashioned claw foot tub”, sink and toilet.

The two downstairs bedrooms have king size beds with extra linens, pillows and blankets. Each bedroom has a TV and the “blue” room has a gaming system along with games. There are 3 air mattresses and the rooms provide plenty of floor space to use them. The two bedrooms share a fully equipped bathroom that has a bathtub/shower combo, large vanity, sink and toilet. There are plenty of towels and wash cloths and a blow dryer. In the closet you’ll find plenty of family fun board games to entertain the entire family.

The Master suite upstairs is exactly that, a SUITE. This is one of those “must see to believe rooms” This room has a king size bed that looks small in comparison to the size of the room. There is a sitting area that includes a couch and three recliners. There is a large screen TV with DVD player. This room has plenty of floor space to sleep several people comfortably on air mattresses. The master bath is elegant for a house in the middle of the woods. It has an extra-large walk in shower, large garden tub, large vanity and a separate toilet room. Several people can be getting ready in this large bathroom and have plenty of space. . When you wake up in the morning and walk through those double doors to head down stairs, you have a beautiful view from the extra-large windows; of the river and the tops of the trees. It’s truly amazing. It’s a beautiful way to start your day.

The outside of the house has a breathtaking view of the river and trees. Underneath the house is a concrete slab with a extra large picnic table, wooden swing and patio chairs. A sidewalk leads to the outdoor shower that is a "favorite" by ALL guests. It's totally private and large enough to hang your towel and clothes without getting wet. There is a bench in it as well. There's something about showering and looking up at the beautiful sky and trees. The sidewalk also leads down to the dock where the real fun begins. Whether you plan to play around in the water or take your water craft out, there is plenty of room for it all. Kids have been running and jumping from this dock for 27 years (not really , this dock was rebuilt and made bigger about 7 years ago) you get my point. Plenty of room to tie up several water crafts. Depending on the river height sometimes we even have a beach.

Their is plenty of yard to get a family softball game going or a number of other lawn games that are available on site. Or, you may just want to lay in the hammock and soak in the beauty and listen to the occasional boat go by. There is something for everyone. For the furry family members there is plenty of nice maintained dirt roads to walk and explore. Our house is in a nice friendly neighborhood where you don't have to see anyone if you don't want or you can stroll the roads and pick up a friendly conversation with some of the locals. The boat ramp is a 1/2 mile down the road and makes for an enjoyable stroll.

I hope I have painted an image in your mind that you find too irresistible to pass up, you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it!

Why Julie Malecot chose Florida North Central Gulf Coast

We brought our children to the Suwanee River year after year while they were growing up. It became a favorite. When our children grew and started having families of their own we wanted the tradition to continue. We have a place that has kept our family connected through the years. We have spent many holidays and long weekends here. Our grandchildren are now becoming adults and still want to come and share time with their families here. This house has provided many memories for so many people. We can only hope that you and your guests will get the same joy that we have experienced all these years. You will feel and see the love that has nurtured this property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

LOVED the house. We had a great time! The two boys slept out in a tent a couple of nights, one night it got down to 26 degrees! The fireplace was perfect for such a cold week and made our stay very comfortable. We loved reading about the history of the house and “Poppy” –I think it was? He sounds like he was a very special and loved man. We definitely will want to go back in the near future and even talked about possibly this summer for a few nights so we could enjoy the springs around the area. We did go up to Little River Springs, but my son was the only one brave enough to jump in since it was about 58 degrees out. We kayaked the river, which is beautiful.

Beautiful. Cozy. Perfect Family home.

My family and I spent a week at this home and it was absolutely perfect. Plenty of space, plenty of activities, extremely comfortable, and everyone in the area was very kind. We made wonderful memories here and hope to make more.

Relaxation is the word!

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to stay here with family & friends for 4 nights while paddling 3 nearby rivers/springs (SantaFe & Ichnetucknee) in kayaks. This was one of the most relaxing places I have ever stayed. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. My favorite spot was the hammock, overlooking the Suwannee river, under the beautiful moss covered trees. If you are ready to relax and leave the hustle-and-bustle behind, this is the place!

Slice of Suwannee Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Dawn breaks with a light mist drifting down the river. The sun rises, illuminating the Spanish Moss with gold as you sip your coffee on the deck and listen to the splash of fish in the river and birds in the trees. The dock beckons, whether fishing for an hour or all day. Inside the great room is just that, great, with fabulous views of the river. Enjoy the big flat screen and get dibs on that comfy leather couch, its a keeper. We cooked in every day and the kitchen had all we needed. The beds and bedrooms were great, the master suite and bath is expansive beyond any other property I've rented. We took excursions, kayaking the Ichetucknee river, clear spring fed, then the upper Suwannee north of Live Oak with its limestone cliffs, mammoth sand bar beaches, then finally paddling out to the little islands off the town of Cedar Key on the Gulf. Had a wonderful time. Thanks to Russ and Yvette, the property managers, for taking care of things on arrival and departure. Thanks to Julie for sharing their home with us.

Owner's Response: Wow, I can actually visualize the scene. I want this vacation! I always enjoy hearing the different views of what makes each visitor's trip special to them. It sounds as though you had the vacation you had been hoping and waiting for. I'm so glad you enjoyed the home and what the area has to offer. We Floridians could learn from your trips that there is a lot to be seen in the area. We hope you come back for a visit again. I enjoyed seeing your posts on Facebook. Julie

Fun with Friends

This place was the best. Friends and I stayed and we had plenty of room. The guys fit well into the comfy bunkhouse. Loved the river view and dock, the large living room and master, loved the ice machine. This is going to be our yearly spot!

Peaceful weekend retreat

  • 5 of 5

I surprised my wife with a long weekend at the river house for her birthday. It was perfect. The house and property were both stunning. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some peaceful r&r. We really enjoyed the view of the river from the porch and catching catfish off the dock. Cell service did not work(best feature of the house), but house has wifi to allow wifi calling. Kitchen was equipped for anything we wanted to cook. We are going to try and schedule another trip this summer. We really enjoyed our time on the river.

Loved the property! It was a beautiful river view to wake up to every morning. The property caretakers were top notch. We had some car issues and Russ came right over to help us. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
