Enjoy the canal view from the balcony, stroll around the world famous Jordaan area or just relax at our historic Amsterdam style apartment. The fully equipped kitchen invites you to cook, but there are many restaurants and bars within walking distance. The famous Anne Frank-House is only 850 meters away and the tram that stops across the street will take you to the Museum District in ten minutes. There's a boxspring bed for two and a sleeping couch that can be made into a bed for two in a jiffy. We welcome you in our apartment to enjoy all the beautiful things Amsterdam has to offer.
Having read the info and the existing reviews, it was great to experience the quaint and quirky apartment - and environs - on this two day stopover. High quality residence and thoughtful hosting, mainly thanks to Barbara -- and both logistical and shopping convenience across the board. Great for my boys to be able to play the piano as well. We worked out just how close the location was to Central Station by tram and had a fabulous time exploring Amsterdam (especially TunFun for the kids). And yes, it quickly became a home away from home.
This property is in a great location, outside the busy tourist hub so you get a sense of what life is really like in Amsterdam, but close enough to walk to sights like the Anne Frank House, Dam square, to wander through the Jordaan area or get a tram to the museum district or the Centraal station. I arrived early and was able to drop my bags and get information early which was wonderful. While the steep
stairs going up two flights are a little intimidating when you arrive, you quickly adjust and know that this is just part of why you choose to rent an apartment in the first place. It gives you a much better sense of the city that you are visiting. The apartment is just as pictured and is bright with three big floor to ceiling windows. The middle windows open to a small balcony overlooking the road and the canal. It was wonderful to sit outside, or in the living room and watch all the action on the canal. The bedroom is at the back of the apartment and was quiet and comfortable. The front living/kitchen area is a little noisier with the road outside, so if planning to use the futon I would suggest being prepared for that. The kitchen was stocked with pantry basics and the stove and oven are great. While a microwave might have been a nice convenience, I didn't really miss it too much. There is a great tv/ Apple tv/ DVDs set up, but I found it more interesting to watch what was going on outside the window! The bathroom was clean and had a great shower and tub, as well as washer and drier. Everything is within walking distance and the trams are a short 5-10 minute walk away, depending on where you are going. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby, as well as a butchers, bakery and grocery store. Bike rental was close by as well. This is a great spot if you like to be a little outside all of the tourist crush and noise, but close enough to be in all the action within minutes. I'd definitely return.
Anne Frank House is 850 meters away. Rijksmuseum, Van Goghmuseum. New cinema, food court and creative hub 'De Hallen' is ten minutes away. Westerpark is nearby with lots of artisan food and leisure activities.
