Wonderful 3 bedroom, 2 bath multi-floor layout with large deck and great views
About David Doroshow
My mother and father - Bonnie and Sid- built Treetops in 1990 as their dream home. Being from Florida, they wanted to escape the heat and enjoy the fresh mountain air while enjoying the wonderful views. Now living in Florida full time again, my mother wants others to enjoy her house that has made so many lasting memories.
David Doroshow purchased this House in 1990
Why David Doroshow chose Hendersonville
Again, Sid and Bonnie wanted a retreat from the heat of Florida and "city life". They built Treetops as their "little piece of paradise". A place they could enjoy both inside and out. The location was out of town, but not too far. Being in the beautiful North Carolina Mountains, but having the amenities of the city close at hand was (and continues to be) a perfect combination.
What makes this House unique
Unlike many mountain "Cabins", Treetops is a true 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. It's multi-floor layout is perfect for a family or multiple couples. The private balcony off the master bedroom offers great views, while the large deck on the main level is great for gatherings, dinner, an evening cocktail or just chatting. The master bathroom is a "destination for relaxation" with its large claw foot tub - a perfect ending to great day.

True mountain top getaway!
Easy experience thru VRBO; very responsive owner; comfortable, cozy delightful country cabin. Drive is steep but we had no problem getting up or down. Easy access to nearby attractions and food. Would definitely come here again.
Pretty scenery and a cute house
Very nice house, enjoyed my stay there. The driveway is steep, but for what it is worth I was able to drive my hundai Elantra up without getting stuck.
Great place to relax
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. A very quiet and secluded location in the middle of nature. Plenty of room for several people and large balconies overseeing a sloping mountain.
We had a very relaxing time at Treetops. The house was very comfortable. The road is very rough, but we were warned about it and we made it. I appreciate the owners attention when we had a problem. We would return.
Inconvenient for out-of-staters
The house was definitely spacious enough and as described on the website and is very quiet/secluded, filled with quaint country decor. The only two concerns we had about our stay is what is not mentioned in the description of the house is the treacherous driveway to get to the home - thank god we had a little Jeep because a sedan would not have made it. (we are from out of state, whereas all the in-state people would definitely own trucks that could've make the drive.) We had to drive down the long driveway to pickup or drop off any one coming to/from the house. The other hiccup was that although the owner was responsive through the website to our few questions leading up to the trip, on check in day, for some reason his phone was off and we could not get into the house since we were never told the lock box code. I can see how it could be an easy mistake to overlook however, we had to shower at nearby hotel to get ready for our plans that evening, since we could not get into the house to shower at the check in time.
As always, we welcome reviews of our home. We strive to make sure everyone has an amazing stay at Treetops and the only way to ensure that is to continually grow. We are sorry that the road was an issue for this renter. We have had guests there since her stay that reported no issues. However, on our VRBO webpage under the Rooms & Details section, we clearly state:
"As mentioned in other notes, this is a true mountain home and although our driveway is asphalt, the drive to Treetops is a gravel road. We maintain the gravel road, but during certain times of year, the road is best suited for front wheel or four wheel drive vehicles. If you have questions, please contact us".
Since our area was affected by both Hurricane Florence and Michael, we have told every guest that the entire area, including our road, suffered some damage. I have had a company regrade the drive to my home several times since the hurricanes - and again in late October. Also, as stated in an earlier review, we are working on a permanent solution but that will take several months since repair crews are very busy.
With regards to the check in situation, I apologized to the renter when we spoke that afternoon that my phone hadn't registered an earlier call. I also informed her that it is VRBO's policy to send a welcome email to every renter giving them check in details with directions, codes and other important information. I apologized if they did not receive the email, but was able to confirm through VRBO that it had been sent.
Again, we take all reviews to heart and will see how this can help make our future guest's time at Treetops more enjoyable.
Great house and a great location.
Great house and a great location. We had a wonderful time. The house is lovely but there is no cable so I highly recommend bringing an Amazon TV stick. We did and we had every channel and program we could want. Also the road is a problem. The house is that the end of a very steep dirt road but the owner was very good about trying to maintain it for us. And he mentioned that it will be paved by next spring. Since that was really our only concern once it's fixed, the house gets a full five stars.
The location in particular was very good. You were kind of halfway between Lake Lure and Hendersonville. That house is only about 15 minutes from the large commercial area that has everything you could want from supermarkets to restaurants. In the other direction, towards Lake Luer that has everything you could want from supermarkets to restaurants. In the other direction, towards Lake lure, you pass through the charming village of chimney rock and then have all that The lake has to offer.
I highly recommend this property.
Centrally located and within an hour of many attractions, you can enjoy the Biltmore House and winery in Asheville along with it's famous craft breweries and tours, Scenic Pisgah National Forest with their waterfalls and Sliding Rock, The DuPont State Recreational Forest which offers, hiking, fishing, horseback riding and amazing waterfalls, Hendersonville and it's historic downtown, shopping, restaurants and festivals, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and remember you're in the heart.y of Western North Carolina's famous Apple Country.,
