Pack your comfy clothes. Leave your worries behind. It's time for a trip to Kerr Lake. Nestled in a private cove on Kerr Lake, the Log Cabin is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Located in Clarksville, Virginia, the Log Cabin is just 1.5 hours from Raleigh, 2 hours from Richmond and 3 hours from Charlotte. It's a short drive, but you'll feel like you're a million miles away.
You'll enjoy views of the lake from nearly every room in the house, a sprawling deck, open floor plan and rustic furnishings. With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, the Log Cabin sleeps 8 (1 queen, 2 full, 2 twin beds), but can accommodate a larger family with the use of toddler cots (2 available upon request), a pack 'n' play (1 available upon request) and a comfy sofa. Bathing towels and bedding are provided (please bring your own beach towels). Dining room seats 8. Kitchen is well equipped for a group of 8+. House has heat and air conditioning.
Drink your morning coffee and enjoy the sunrise on the front porch glider. Take a run along the trails through the quaint neighborhood. Catch an impressive catfish or bass from the private dock. Soak up rays, dine alfresco and watch deer roam the 3-acre property from the expansive deck. Play tennis or basketball on the neighborhood court. Take a nap or watch the sunset in the comfy hammock. Cook the catch of the day on the gas grill. Roast hotdogs and marshmallows over the fire pit. Play games around the large dining room table. Watch movies in front of the gas fireplace.
Kerr Lake is a popular water sports destination with plenty of open water for skiing, wake boarding, tubing, etc. If you prefer a more relaxing water experience, the cove is the place to be. Swim in the calm waters around the dock or lounge on your float and enjoy the peaceful cove with heron, geese and ducks.
Located on a calm cove, the U-shaped slip dock has room for three boats (or more). Put your boats in at Longwood Park (5 miles away) and visit Clarksville Marina (6 miles away) for all of your boating needs. Unlike many Kerry Lake properties, the Log Cabin has only a slight incline from the water to the house, making loading and unloading easy. If you have strong arms, the dock is accessible by both strollers and wheelchairs.
The crappie, catfish, striper and bass are calling ... It's time to drop a line! The Log Cabin's private dock features a fish cleaning station with both power and running water. Bobcat's Bait & Tackle (4 miles away) has everything you need for a great fishing trip on Kerr Lake. No boat? No problem! Catch your dinner from the dock. The largest catch from the dock so far is a 10.78 pound catfish. Can you top that? Send us your photos from the dock!
If you prefer to stay onshore, you can take a short walk along the cove to the nearby peninsula. There is a sandy beach, great swimming area for kids, a picnic table, grill and horseshoes. The land along the shoreline is public property and great for exploring, fort building, frog catching and hide-and-go-seek. AREAWith buildings dating back to 1889, Clarksville, Virginia has an old-fashioned feel to it. It's a small town with friendly locals who are happy to provide tips about the area. The downtown is just a 10 minute drive or short boat ride from the Log Cabin. You can tie up your boat at the public dock and explore Virginia's only lakeside town. We live in Raleigh, North Carolina, but we love to come up to Clarksville, Virginia as much as possible. Joey is all about fishing, boating, home renovation and craft beer. Jen is all about the great outdoors – hiking, running, swimming, kayaking … you name it. She works in front of a computer writing all day, so she relishes her time at Kerr Lake.
Jennifer Andrassy purchased this cabin in 2015
We bought the cabin in early 2015 with hopes of renting it and sharing it with family and friends. This is our first real estate investment venture/adventure. So far we’ve learned it’s a little harder than it looks on TV, but it’s been worth it. It means so much to us to hear that our guests feel like they can relax here and enjoy quality time with their loved ones. It's amazing how this place is so close to everything, but feels like a million miles away. It really is a wonderful escape.
We bought this log cabin because it felt like home to us. The neighborhood is beautiful to walk/run through, which is hard to find in the Clarksville area. We love that there is only a slight slope from the lake to the house, which makes it safe for kids and elderly guests. You'll see that it's rare to find a property like ours on Kerr Lake. Lake access can be treacherous from some properties. Not ours! It's right on a beautiful, calm cove with a sandy beach nearby. Locals gather on the beach to mingle, kids swim and play horseshoes, families use the picnic table and grill for waterside lunches. It's idyllic, really. Spending the evenings or early mornings sitting on the dock and watching the heron and eagles fly overhead is so relaxing. Lounging in a float in the cove or paddling over to the sandy beach is another favorite activity. We also enjoy catching our dinner - usually catfish. It's great that you can enjoy the lake (and tasty fish) with or without a boat. I like the private cove because I can jump off the dock and swim around with my kids without worrying about boats, tubers, etc. running us over or making big waves. Plus, there's plenty of space for skiing and wake boarding on the main channel just a short boat ride away. The Log Cabin is also very close to Longwood Recreation Area on US Highway 15, which has a boat ramp, swimming area and playground. Bobcat's bait and tackle is also around the corner for all of your fishing needs. The proximity of the cabin to downtown Clarksville is great for short boat rides to lunch or evenings out. Two grocery stores, fast food options, elegant dining and shopping is just a 5-mile drive from the cabin by car.
Our family of 8 + 2 dogs and a rabbit stayed at Kerr Lake Log Cabin for almost 4 weeks in October. My husband and myself during the week and our 3 adult children + significant others came on the weekends. We felt at home the moment we walked through the front door. The house was well maintained and clean. The amenities were as described. The kitchen perfectly supplied with all the cooking gear needed. We prepared ALL our meals there. The property was private and well off the road. Lake access was easy with private dock. Kerr Lake is gorgeous. The neighborhood roads were great for an exercise walk or a bike ride. The weather was picture perfect. Only 2 days of rain our entire stay and 1 was because of Hurricane Matthew. Jen and Joey checked-up on us to make sure we were prepared for the storm. Thank goodness we had no problems. We thank them for the yummy almonds and wine and for sharing their wonderful lake home with us. We would highly recommend this well-loved vacation home find!
My husband & I & our two dogs had a wonderful stay at the cabin. You can tell it is well loved by the owners. We cooked in & the kitchen was well-stocked & the gas grill easy to use. Our weather was a bit rainy but didn't dampen our enthusiasm. We definitely would go back.
The cabin was very clean and well equipped. We had family coming and going all week (8 adults which included our three daughter and their husbands and 4 grandchildren under 7). Everyone was impressed. Our grandchildren loved swimming, kayaking, exploring, fishing, the campfire, and playing cornhole; the adults did too! We ate at the Lakehouse Restaurant on our first day. It was excellent. We ate all our other meals at the cabin. Food Lion is close by and there was also a Farmers Market downtown. The setting is very private. We recommend it and would like to return.
Very nicely maintained and plenty of fun things to do with the family
This lake cabin is very clean and well stocked with many amenities. The bedrooms are large, there is ample seating space and a large, well stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal for family and friends. The deck overlooking the lake is huge with a large table, chairs, bench and umbrella for outdoor dining. When it rained one evening, we sat on the covered front porch. We enjoyed the kayaks several times and also walked to the sandy beach for a little sun and floating on the lake. We made several trips to Food Lion for food and beverages. We also ate at the West Side Deli and picked up a sandwich to go for a picnic lunch in the state park. We also enjoyed lunch at the Lake House Restaurant. Jen and Joey were very accommodating and fixed one small issue for us in a timely fashion. I would recommend this lake cabin to anyone with a large family or group and may be back in the future.
Clarksville is Virginia's only lakeside town. It has nice restaurants and quaint shops typical of a small town, but has a old-timey feel to it with several buildings dating back to the early 1900s. You'll love riding your boat to the town dock and walking to lunch or dinner downtown. If you want to explore the surrounding area, take a ride to nearby Farmville, where you can enjoy a ropes course, shopping, dining and drinks by the river.
