About the property

A self catering holiday home with unobstructed sea views and garden.

We welcome you to a holiday experience in our self catering traditional Maltese House of Character in St. Paul's Bay, Malta. A rare find in this day and age of modern developments. It is licensed and approved by the Malta Tourism Authority and is available for short term rent throughout the year. It is a comfortable residence boasting traditional patterned floors, wooden beams, high ceilings and many other rustic features. It offers all the mod cons necessary to comfortable living today. The house has stunning sea views of the bay. It consists of entrance hall, sitting/ dining room, kitchen/breakfast room, four bedrooms, bathroom, shower & toilet downstairs, garden, patio with barbeque area which is ideal for relaxing on a hot summer's day. Although it is situated in the village core it enjoys stunning sea views and is in a quiet area, yet it is well located within walking distance of the sea, sandy beaches, bus stops, shops, restaurants, banks and the popular resort of Qawra.

The following is a review from clients who have spent a holiday in the house, and it gives a more detailed description of the house :

' This was our 1st time booking accom online so had certain qualms - but they proved to be totally unfounded. The house was exactly as stated on website infact if anything information didn't do it justice. This house is special as is Carmen who is a mine of information I really don't think there's anything she doesn't know - a truly lovely lady. The house was lovely and clean and has absolutely everything you could need even down to books and jigsaws and even more amazing kitchen knives that were lovely and sharp! It is situated about 2mins away from the seafront and the local beach which we found a real bonus after a day of being out and about to come home park up then walk down for an evening swim. A few doors up from the house is what Carmen calls a minute market (rather than mini market) it has all the basics and a few surpises too. Up the top of the road are the main shops (5/10 Mins walk) with some really wonderful fresh fish shops and everything else you could need (fresh bread from the bakers - a definite must) all with the added bonus that it's downhill on the return journey. This house is a true haven - such a refreshing change from soul less apartments, etc with character oozing out of it. It is extremely spacious so if a large group were there there is plently of living space as well as bedrooms. The main bedroom (sea facing) is huge and has a wonderful sea view - extremely tranquil in the evening watching the sun set. Carmen's beautifully tended garden is a real treasure - where we did most of our living. It is shaded, plenty of tables and chairs and very private. The plants are so well tended, colourful and pretty a real tribute to Carmen's careful nurturing any garden lover will recognise a kindred spirit. One last thing - the staircase - strange thing I know but it is so elegant and sweeping - holiday clothes didn't do it justice!~ This property is more than a house it really is a little part of Malta. Congratulations Carmen with your house and your welcome you will never be without bookings. Definitely going to return again and again' (Stuart and Judy, Co.Cork,Ireland)

Scuba Diving: The Maltese Islands are a real paradise for divers and snorklers, as an all-year-round centre! The minimum sea temperature never drops below 14 degrees celcius. The climate and duration of sunshine during the winter months are similar to an average North European summer. The islands offer excellent infrastructure for divers representing a very high standard offering services to the most sophisticated demands. Malta. Gozo and Comino boast a vast range of diving both from shore or by boat. The excellent under water visibility, the unique topographic structure of its underwater landscape, and the healthy flora and fauna, qualify the islands as the ideal place for this wonderful sport. One can also find an abundance of caves, holes, grottos and crevices. The islands also boast a vast variety of wrecks, ranging from the First World War to specifically scuttled wrecks.

"Fantastic holidays!"

Date of Stay 17th May - 1st June 2012

We stayed in the house for two weeks and it was a fantastic holiday indeed! The house and the garden are really beautiful and you have everything you need. We were even a bit surprised because of the very comfortable mattresses, you usually don't find them in hotels or holiday homes. Carmen and Josephine are very welcoming and helpful with anything one could need. Everything is nearby: the beach, a minimarket, a bigger supermarket, restaurants, pubs, the busstation etc.

The transfer from and back to the airport worked perfectly.

The house is located at a perfect spot. Near the sea but nice and quiet. And it's only a 10 minutes walk to Buggiba, were most of the restaurants and bars are. When you walk to Buggiba along the sea, look left and up. There ist a little restaurant up the hill in the bend after the Gillieru hotel. It is calles Don Vito and is definetely worth a visit. They have the best stuffed bread we found on the island! And you have breathtaking view over the little harbour.

We hope to be able to come back soon and wish everyone a fantastic summer!

Marvellous maltese house

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our visit to this great old house. Josephine the owner was a lovely lady. She was there to meet us and even there when we left at 3 a.m. This traditional old house with all its unique features and quaint rear garden was perfect for a relaxing stay, quiet but close enough to the more lively parts of the st. pauls bay and bugibba areas. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Delightful Maltese house

  • 5 of 5

A house full of character and with an oasis of a garden. We enjoyed our short stay in St Paul's bay and Josephine's house proved to be the ideal base. Josephine was an ideal host, being available to help and advise as required. We would certainly consider staying here again should be visit again.

Many thanks to Josephine, we really did appreciate your house and area of St Paul's bay.

Wonderful house full of character

  • 5 of 5

This house is full of character! A traditional house, plenty of room and everything you could need, at a great price!

Josephine is a wonderful host, who came to meet us at gone midnight, and even left us a fridge of supplies to set up our first day.

The bus stop is a 2 minute walk and you can buy a bus pass at the shop on the corner of the street (just ask in there)

We’d definitely stay here again if we visit Malta.

Accommodation 'fitted the bill' exactly

  • 4 of 5

We were 6 people who needed 4 bedroom; 2 bathroom/shower accommodation. No 40 Church Street, St Paul's fitted the bill exactly/ Well situated just 50 metres from the sea and with restaurants and grocery shops nearby - the closest just 3 doors away and had everything we needed on a daily 'top-up' basis. The bus route is again nearby (100 metres) with a large selection of buses for any destination,

Preparations for our stay were assisted beyond expectations by Josephine Magro who could not have been more helpful with our many requests.

The house is 'traditional' old Maltese so do not expect a modern uptodate state of decor or furniture BUT it is more than adequate and has everything that is needed for a relaxed holiday. There are plenty of heaters for winter and fans for summer. If there is anything you need you just ask Josephine Magro who is happy to help and lives just across the road.

We had a wonderful early spring holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review for my Maltese House of Character. Yes you are right. Your review is an echo of the majority of my guests who express their delight in choosing my house as their holiday home. The patterned and coloured floor tiles, the wooden beams, the high ceiling, the stone staircase all contribute to a unique experience. I am often told by my guests that by living in the house they know they are in Malta and not in a flat which could be anywhere in the world. As all flats look alike.!! I hope to host you again.

St Paul's Bay is a traditional quiet fishing village situated to the north west of the island of Malta. It is made up of some particularly beautiful, natural geological features. The locality enjoys beautiful scenery, made up of large expanses of plateau, high ridge areas overlooking steep-sided valleys, beautiful beaches and rocky promenades. It is situated 16 km away from Valletta, the capital city. It is very close to the popular summer resorts of Bugibba and Qawra where you can find numerous bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues. The best sandy beaches in Malta are only twenty minutes away, although the swimming is excellent just down the road from the house from the rocky beach. There is a good bus service to almost all localities in Malta including the main historical sites like the Hypogeum. It is also 30minutes away from the ferry that takes you to the island of Gozo.

It is situated very close to the Language Schools in St Paul's Bay.

Golf: The Golf course is situated at Marsa which is about 30 minutes by car away from St Paul's Bay.
