This home is our primary residence, available in 2017 from September 16 - October 21. We leave it fully equipped. Mid September to mid October is peak New England foliage time with the best weather of the year. Meals on our large screened porch are a special treat. Downtown shops and restaurants, the Children's Museum of NH, the Woodman Museum and Dover's lovely public library are an easy stroll away. Kayaking, canoeing, fishing and hiking along the Dover Community Trail/Cochecho River are less than a five minute walk from the back door. The cultural hubs of Portsmouth and the University of New Hampshire are 20 minutes away. Boston is an hour and a half by train, coach or car. The White mountains are an easy day trip while the Maine and New Hampshire beaches are a half hour to 45 minute drive. Each of the three bedrooms has a double bed. The ground floor bedroom is across from one bathroom. two bedrooms upstairs share a bath. We invite you to enjoy a comfortable home in a convenient location to all New Hampshire has to offer.
Carlo and I are retired educators, he as a high school teacher, I as an administrator most often in nonprofit organizations. Travel is a passion - we spend time each fall in France in a small village where we lived for 10 months in 2010. This photo was taken in Dublin. We were traveling with Norm the Moose from Jim's Rotary club. We have been together since 2006 and were married in 2009.
Jim Verschueren purchased this house in 1983
Ours is an easy-living home - cozy, comfortable, offering exceptional access to this dynamic region. Jim is a former state representative in the NH legislature and a huge Dover booster. Carlo moved here from his home state of New Jersey "for one year" in 1973 and never left. The proximity to cultural activities, the ocean, the mountains made it a permanent stay. People who don't know New Hampshire are always surprised by all we have to offer, especially here in the Seacoast. Our home offers the dual benefits of in-town, congestion-free living with stores close by as well as a country feel along the river just out the back door.
What a lovely home that we shared with our family while they were in town! Perfect location, wonderful home with excellent and comfortable accommodations. Perfect porch for cozy fall breakfasts and welcoming interior for delightful rest. The owners could not be nicer, and we are so thankful for this wonderful place! Merci! Thank you :)))
My family and I wanted to experience the fall foliage in New England. With a young child in tow, it was difficult to find a good, central location. We made Dover, New Hampshire our home base. It was a great central location. Easy to get to Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine. The house itself was exactly what the pictures portrayed and the owners described. Plenty of room. Nice, covered porch for dining. It was close to grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, you name it. It also had a nice path that you could walk along nearby. The owners were great to work with. I highly recommend the house!
Everything was just as described, no surprises. Plenty of room for everyone in my family, 6 adults and 1 child. We felt very safe, close to downtown, very easy to get around and lots of places to eat and to see. Very clean. We really enjoyed our stay. I would only say that the mattress could have been softer lol, they were very firm. But overall the entire package was well worth the money and the location was perfect! Thank you so much for sharing your home.

Dover is a vibrant, historical city, eminently livable city of 30,000. We are on a residential street, backing up to baseball fields, the Cocheco River and the community walking trail. All services are within walking distance. Portsmouth, the Seacoast's cultural center, offers live theatre, concerts, festivals and specialty shops just a 15 minute drive on the motorway. The University of New Hampshire is 7 miles away and the White Mountains are an hour and a half, an easy day excursion. Boston is and hour and a half by coach, car or train. The Woodman Museum and the NH Children's Museum are great attractions in the downtown area.
