Hi! My name is Tom and I am happy to offer you a stay at Jack & Mare's cottage. This cottage has been in our family for three generations. The property was purchased by my grandparents in the 30's. They were among the first to build a summer cottage in Lexington Heights. Growing up, I spent the entire summer at the cottage enjoying the beach, the water and much enjoyable time with family and friends. Later the cottage was renovated by my dad, Jack, and turned to a year-round home. In 2015 we prepared this lake home as a vacation spot.
Located directly on Lake Huron with a beautiful view of the lake, easy access to the beach, and close to many summer activities in the surrounding area. "The Heights," as it is called, is a very family friendly vacation community where you will most surely feel welcome and get a heavy dose of relaxation along the way.
In addition to the obvious summer vacation activities, Lexington is known for its excellent salmon/lake trout fishing in the spring and fall. So bring your boat and down riggers and a few buddies and get out on the water and get your lines wet.
This cottage was absolutely beautiful! So relaxing and peaceful! It is everything I could want in a cottage. The beach was perfect and the view was amazing! I will definitely be booking this beauty next year!
This vintage beach house worked great for our family vacation! It is close to Lake Huron's sandy beach. It has everything needed to grill out & enjoy the beautiful scenery under shady trees. We made great memories with family we don't see often enough!
Just need a land line in case cell svc isn't available. Hope to return next August!
I gave this rental a 4 star for the yard size and access to the beach. For the house its self I would give it a 3. The house was really dated (which you can tell by the photos) a little bit of TLC would really make a difference. If I am staying some place for a week I would like to unpack and the dressers in the main bedroom were full of their family items. I felt like I was intruding. Box that stuff up so I don't have to live out of a suitcase for a week. The back bedroom was REALLY musty smelling. Not sure what can be done about that but it was pretty bad. The shower should have some kind of rail or something to hold on to for older people. The plastic insert is very slippery. It was a bit hard not having cell phones - I have Verizon and there was very sporadic usage - none at all over the 4th of July. In case of an emergency, not sure what you would do. The yard was big, I think this is where the place could use the most care. Fill the pots with flowers or something instead of just weeds. Trim the bushes and pull the weeds from the flower beds. Get rid of that swing and all of the spiderwebs all over it and the outside of the house. The garage could really use some help too. It was pretty much a disaster inside. A little bit of landscaping and it would look nice. It stands out as kind of a sore thumb compared to the other properties around. The owner was very good about answering all of my questions prior to arrival. Overall, the bare minimum maintenance has been done to the house and property and for the price, I kind of expected more. The pictures of the well kept outside area were not quite the reality.
The photo here does not do the place justice. The view from the front window was stunning! I watched the lake change color as the sky and winds changed. The lake was too cold for these old bones but I enjoyed walking doe to the beach and enjoying the lake close up. We grilled out for dinner at the picnic table and had a big fire to chase off the chill and provide more ambiance. The firewood was included which was a plus. The bed was comfortable and I went to sleep to the sound of only waves and awoke to the waves complemented by birdsong.
The location was so convenient. Just 1/2 hour from blue water bridge in Port Huron. I just had to bring my suitcase an a few groceries. The kitchen was stocked with spices along with the cookware and dishes. I didn't need to bring bed linens or towels. Just walked in and made myself to home!
It's not the newest place on the block, but with the beautiful lake, the BIG yard, relaxing fire pit, nice amenities and ideal location near the beach, I would say it's still one of the best places in Lexington Heights.
We ate outside most of the time at the picnic table which was great. There were also 8-10 chairs outside so really nice there. Plenty of space for yard games, (volleyball, corn hole etc.) and it was close to the beach (stairs and dirt ramp). Bring games and kayaks and bikes and stuff and enjoy :)
