About Romi Sloboda Dunahugh

Once upon a time, two artists fell in love, became best friends, combined their resources, married and learned to work together renovating houses into homes. It turns out that they were pretty good at it and Casita Cameo is their collaboration.

Romi is an artist who lives in the historically contributing territorial style adobe house at the front of the property located on Agua Fria Street, part of the historic El Camino Real. When not working in her studio or on renovations, Romi enjoys looking after the organic gardens. Casita Cameo is located in the center of the property, with a private fenced yard and offstreet parking. Chip's joyful hospitality lives on in the details of the casita and the other houses he designed and renovated on the property with Romi.

Why Romi Sloboda Dunahugh chose Santa Fe

After meeting in Florence, living in Paris and in Old City Philadelphia, we loved living in a city where we can walk to museums, gallery openings and to our favorite restaurants.

Our very first visit to Santa Fe was in 2003 and, like many Santa Feans, we fell in love with it right away and dreamed of moving here one day. Two years later, our dreams came true and I hope that you fall in love with Santa Fe during your visit too!

Lovely, Clean, Great Location, Walking Distance to Plaza

  • 5 of 5

The owner is welcoming, helpful, a lovely person. Casita Cameo is impeccably clean, has very tasty decor and has all the essentials that a traveler would hope for, the kitchen very well equipped. It's bright, comfortable and quiet. The flower garden in the front adds charm and beauty and the small outdoor eating area is private. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect location and accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

This was perfect in every which way. We loved it!! The accommodations are comfortable and we had everything we could need. The location is so close to the Railyard so we easily could check out all the Saturday markets, and about a 15 minute walk from the Plaza. We barely had to do any driving unless we were going for a hike. The casita is close to a busy street, but being in the middle of the compound, it was so quiet. I would highly recommend this place!! And would love to stay here again!

Wonderful property and host.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent two nights at Casita Cameo and loved it. Romi is a wonderful host and has created a little oasis. Walking distance to the Plaza, the Railyard and Canyon Road. The casita is well appointed with everything one would need. It is wonderfully decorated, very clean and comfortable. We will definitely return!

Delightful place to stay in Santa fe

  • 5 of 5

Casita Cameo is a great place to stay in Santa Fe:clean, beautifully decorated, quiet and restful yet an easy walk from the center of town. Romi was always on call and provided little amenities that added to our comfort such as shampoo, qtips, sugar and more. The bed was very comfortable;we heard no street noise at night. Washer, dryer and heating/cooling worked perfectly. Romi and Chip's terrific artwork on the walls enliven the decoration. Lovely plants in front of the casita and an outdoor area to eat if the weather is nice. We loved the walk to town along Aqua Fria St. We have stayed elsewhere in Santa Fe but we would stay at Casita Cameo again and recommend it to others with no hesitation.

Snow in April

  • 5 of 5

We had the luck to enjoy Casita Cameo and mostly to meet its owner, Romi, who is a friendly and helpful as it comes. The Casita is centrally located, very, very quite and wonderfully decorated. We had the opportunity to enjoy 8 inches of snow in late April which made Santa Fe look like a holiday postcard. Romi even had the courtesy of shoveling the snow for us to have a path out to our car. The Casita is very nicely furnished and decorated. Romi, once more thanks you for your help and friendliness, it was pleasure meeting you and enjoying your property
