GULF FRONT HOME ON CAPE SAN BLAS

Reminiscent of a grand old-Florida-style beach home, Shutters by the Sea is nestled among the dunes on one of the widest beachfront lots on the Cape. One-mile north of The Trading Post market and just south of Rish Park, a half-mile stretch of secluded beach, this home provides the perfect combination of convenience and privacy. Spacious, covered decks showcase the beauty of this magnificent expanse. The first thing we hear when guests arrive is “The views are spectacular!” Enjoy our famous sunsets from one of two deck swings as dolphins swim just offshore. Adirondack furniture provides plenty of outdoor seating for the entire family. In the mornings, we think coffee and tea are best enjoyed watching the sunrise at one of the built-in, east-facing corner tables. Try to count the mahogany shutters adorning the exterior. But, if you spend all your time outside, you’ll miss the other half of what makes Shutters by the Sea so special.

Built in 1985 and renovated in the summer of 2012, Shutters by the Sea is full of character unusual in newer homes. Each year brings additions and updates, including new AC and appliances in 2016. With every room opening to the wraparound decks, this home features wide-open spaces in which to relax and gather with family and friends. Antique-lovers will appreciate unique pieces and original artwork and rugs from around the world interspersed among modern comforts. You may notice many details utilizing reclaimed wood. Centuries of history are represented here. This is understated elegance.

On the main level, the living, dining and kitchen areas are situated to take full advantage of the spectacular ocean views. With granite counters and columned bar, this kitchen is fully-stocked with cook and bakeware, utensils, spices and serving pieces to please the most finicky chefs. The white oak floors now shine again, having been refinished in late 2016. Subtle beauty surrounds you.

The living and dining areas flow together and offer seating galore, a 42” HDTV, Bose sound system, fireplace, games, movies, books, and the main attraction - jaw-dropping views of the sea.

The main level also has two bedrooms – one with two, snuggly, queen beds and the other with one pillow-topped king bed. Both also have HDTVs, adjacent full bathrooms and private doors to the deck.

Upstairs, the library offers the perfect setting to curl up with a book and watch winter storms. Here you will find a queen foldout sofa, additional seating, IPod dock, coffee/tea station, imported washbasin and doors to the upstairs deck.

The adjacent and luxurious master suite provides an “Ahhhh"-inducing memory foam-topped king bed, overstuffed chairs, HDTV and doors to the upstairs deck. The upstairs bath features a double shower with floor-to-ceiling glass.

Shutters by the Sea provides satellite reception via Direct TV and includes over 200 channels and NetFlix, WiFi and free local and long-distance calls.

All decks are gated so that little ones (both two and four-legged) will be safe. A new sun/star-gazing deck, adjacent to the dune walk, provides unobstructed views for enjoying celestial shows, both day and night. To rinse away the powder-white sand, you will find a private foot-wash on the landing. The south-facing deck overlooks a habitat created for native plants and migrating birds and butterflies. Beauty abounds.

Enjoy plenty of protected parking as well as a covered seating area with sink and fish-cleaning station and both gas and charcoal grills. A private, outdoor shower with hot and cold water provide the perfect place to cool-off, clean-off or warm-up after a day outside.

Old-world quality meets new-world luxury and convenience at Shutters by the Sea.

we have stayed in a couple of different house on Cape San Blas and this is BY FAR our favorite. 3 big bedrooms and 3 separate baths perfect for our needs. the home is so well furnished and stocked you feel like your at your own home. the only negative is the access to the beach. there are not stairs down to beach level (you have to climb the dune), which for anyone with disabilities would be a problem I will book again for next year!

This was our 5th trip to the Cape and we always try to stay someplace new because of how hard the environment is on the houses. I was leery of Shutters due to the age, but the reviews convinced me to give it a try, boy am I glad we did! The owners obviously have gone to great lengths to keep the house in awesome shape. Kitchen and appliances were recently upgraded and the entire house was very well appointed and maintained. The view is amazing, the porches are incredible. We arrived the same day as Hurricane Nate, so beach erosion was a problem, but restoration is already planned for this winter so that shouldn't be a problem going forward. We had a great vacation, the rough seas were fun for boogie-boarding the first couple of days, then calm and clear for the end of the week. House was very clean, ample parking, no complaints at all. I'd prefer a Keurig to the Krups coffee-maker but that's a very minor complaint. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Shutters has some personality that the newer homes just don't have, it felt much more home-like. Overall, I highly recommend Shutters by the Sea.

We've stayed at condos and resorts on the beach but this was by far the most amazing trip we've taken. Walk out your backyard and you're on a beautiful beach. After an exhausting day "playing", sit on the swing on the wrap around deck with a glass of wine or beverage of choice and RELAX. House is amazing! Rooms are very spacious especially all 3 bedrooms. Some minor things...we had 9 guests but only 8 sets of towels. Had some issues with bugs. Be prepared to have essentials handy; toilet paper, paper towels, etc..., as they are not provided. We are planning our next trip and Cape San Blas will be the likely location. Since it may be a larger group (15+), Shutters by the Sea likely will not handle the larger group. Highly recommend this place, it's truly amazing!

If you are looking for a property, on the beach, with massive porches and a comfortable open floor plan then Shutters by the Sea is for you. This is our second time to stay in "Shutters" and hopefully it will not be the last. Big families can spread out on the porches and enjoy the awesome views or they can gather on the spacious main floor. No matter where you are in this house there is always a great view of the gulf. The kitchen is well stocked with a large island bar and huge table for family meals. Plenty of parking under the house with an outdoor shower. Easy access to the beach, which is great when you need a refill. We really enjoy staying in "Shutters", hopefully your family will too.

a very nice rental ... altho not as "isolated" as portrayed, (property is connected to a public boardwalk traveled with a low level of foot traffic), guests at neighboring condos shot off disturbing fireworks in the evening, etc ... but .. very nicely & comfortably furnished, with all that is needed for a beautiful gulfside vacation ... and of course the nearby park is a big plus ... well worth considering for a week on the waterfront ...
