Why Chuck Svendsen chose Minnesota

This is a custom built home which was completed in 2008. It is absolutely gorgeous. Chris Gunderson and his family from Vermilion Range Construction did an amazing job bringing our dream to reality. Their craftsmanship is immediately seen in details such as the diamond willow railing and the finish on the reclaimed wooden flooring. We built in this area because of year round activities available on the iron range. This property provides easy access to skiing, biking, snowmobiling and world class golf courses.

Amazing cabin/location for a group weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cabin was absolutely perfect in every way. We had a total of 12 adults for the weekend and definitely enjoyed the ample space throughout the house including the beautiful decks, yard space, lake, and sauna. The Master Bedroom in particular is absolutely beautiful with an amazing shower and whirlpool tub. We loved the large selection of games/movies, well-stocked kitchen, fire pit, and paddleboard/kayaks as well. Chuck left no detail out and even ordered towels for the sauna to arrive at the cabin for our use. There's plenty of seating/dishes/accommodations for a large group as well. The home is also centrally located near beautiful hiking trails and was EXACTLY what we were looking for in a relaxing lake getaway from the cities.

Great house for a group ski vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Northern exposure was everything the pictures showed and more. We had three families with young kids on a ski vacation. The cabin kitchen was perfect for group breakfasts and dinners. Everything we needed and more was there to cook with. The selection of games to keep the kids entertained and off devices was excellent. The owner was easy to work with and quick with responses. Wonderful property, my kids are begging to come back in the summer!

Awesome Nordic Ski Escape

  • 5 of 5

The house worked great for winter break outing of several high school Nordic skiers and a few chaperones. The skiing at Giant's Ridge was awesome and the house provided a great retreat after a full day of skiing. The kitchen was well outfitted. The bedrooms were perfect. The whirlpool was especially appreciated by the chaperones who were a little slower to recover than the kids. Winter access was good - the road is long, but well plowed. We are already making plans for next year.

Relaxing Perfection

  • 5 of 5

We were having trouble finding lodging in the area that would work with our needs. The owners were more than helpful in finding alternatives and putting something together for us. With the extra beds and bedrooms it was the perfect setup for our stay. The home itself was beautiful, amazing at every turn. The setting was quiet and relaxing and we would love the opportunity to come back in the summer season to enjoy the lake some. We were there in the winter and it had close and easy access to Giant's Ridge and the ski trails there. We loved it and couldn't have asked for a better location or lodging for our stay!

Fabulous Property and Owner

  • 5 of 5

The house is spectacular! The windows and wood everywhere are so warm and inviting. We had a reunion of three families (six kids and six adults with three dogs) and there was plenty of space, privacy, and fun for everyone. The giant bath/whirlpool and shower were a huge hit for all. The kitchen is a dream for group cooking to feed a crew and the walk in pantry was so helpful. We swam, canoed, kayaked, made s'mores, fished, and created wonderful memories. Sunset views from the dock and decks were spectacular. The wifi router died and Chuck had a new one delivered in short order. There is limited phone reception unless your vendor is ATT, but for me that was a bonus because most of us wanted to disconnect from the grid to concentrate on family. It is obvious that the owners take pride both in their home and in being responsive to those who are able to enjoy their home. Everything we needed except food and clothing was provided. We also loved the Tower-Sudan Mine tour, visiting the Hibbing open mines, and had fun at the local county fair with the kids. You can see the Giants Ridge runs from the dock and I'm sure this would be a wonderful haven for a ski week or weekend. We would highly recommend this property and will definitely keep it on our list of places to rent again.
