Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful and spacious home! We had two families of four hare this space and it more than accommodated us. The outdoor kitchen was amazing and was a favourite gathering place.

The owners were great as well.

Cant recommend this place highly enough if you're staying in Kalispell!!!

Cozy and comfortable, convenient and clean

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this home is charming and comfortable. Brad and Paula were as gracious and accommodating as can be, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay in their home again. While obviously old (100+ years?) the home was warm top to bottom. I especially loved the cozy carpet and thick pads and it was fun seeing our group sprawled out on the floor and couches relaxing and playing cards between freezing cold hockey games. And then at the end of the night, sinking into the soft beds with the cozy bedding was a real joy. The teenage girls wanted me to note that the Wi-Fi was top-notch too :)

Owner's Response: Awe! Thank you, you were amazing yourself, bringing the girls for hockey, love it! One of your girls ran in and went right to the piano, I mentioned it to Brad (his piano) and he said it was nice to see someone playing it. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in our cozy home. You left our home in spotless condition, so much appreciated! You are welcome back anytime. Brad and Paula

Very nice.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the outdoor kitchen where we spent most nights. The house was clean, comfortable, and well taken care of. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. The only thing we did not know at the time of booking was the fourth bedroom was a pass though. Brad and Paula were great hosts and gave us some local places to eat and visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you Janet, Sorry for the late response. Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We enjoyed meeting all of you! You all certainly were having a fun time, dancing in the outdoor kitchen and all. We do understand the pass-through bedroom in our 100+ year old home does not work for everyone and we have edited our listing. We hope you do come back to this area, you are always welcome in our home. Thanks for putting up with the "possessed" washer and dryer! LOL! It still works great! Brad and Paula

Very Nice Property

  • 4 of 5

A beautiful, clean and relaxing home in the heart of Kalispell. The outdoor kitchen is second to none. What a fabulous set up for entertaining and nightly gatherings to re-cap the day. The owners are new at renting and actually live in the home when not rented. They seem like very nice people and I think meant well in all regards. Unfortunately the rental ad is misleading in a couple areas. First, the house does not have complete air conditioning (a must during Kalispell summers), instead a room air conditioner is mounted in the dinning room and only cools the dinning room and half the living room. Second, the main floor bedrooms are 'together' in the sense that you must walk through one to get to the other. This can be a little awkward. There is a door between them with a full glass window and a blind on one side. It work for us but it is not clear on the ad and could be a problem for future renters. The hot tub outside was not working and were told that a new 'heater' was on order, however it looks like it has not been in use for a long time and we likely would not have gone in it even if it did work (has seen better days). Lastly, the owner was over every day except one to water plants in the yard. He would often be there over an hour. This felt a bit like 'checking up' than actual gardening. I received daily texts prior to his arrival. I also received daily texts asking when he could come inside to water the 'forest' inside the home. In the big picture, not a big deal, but we rented the house for a week to relax. We assumed privacy would be part of the overall experience. We would likely pursue other options for our next visit to the area. We do wish these owners the best of luck moving forward in their endeavors.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at our property and leaving the house so clean and cared for. We enjoyed having you as our guests. We are fairly new at this- 1 ½ years- and we continue to learn and improve with every guest and review. The house is 100+ years old and does not have central air, the ceiling mounted heater/ air conditioner does keep downstairs cool and the upstairs fans keep the air circulating. You were here during an unusually hot week and we do apologize for your discomfort. At least the nights are cool in Montana! We also apologize for your feelings of no privacy when we were watering. We do get a lot of compliments on the indoor and outdoor plants and landscaping. We were not sure how to go about watering the large yard and garden during those hot days during your stay. We timed our watering chores and were not there longer than ½ hour. The indoor plants can go a lot longer with out care, but do need water at some point and we must come inside depending on the length of our guests’ stay. We do not like texting either and did not want to intrude, but like any hotel or rental the plants need care and we felt that texting and asking when the best time to come was the best way. Thanks to your input, we will no longer be texting. We will set a day and time when someone will be at the property to water, with flexibility. No texting- just set times as any gardener would. As for the pass through bedroom, we agree and we realize that may not work for everyone and have corrected our listing earlier this spring, but after you had booked. We are sorry to have learned some lessons at your expense, but hope the overall experience and enjoyment of the outdoor kitchen made for a positive stay and hope you will consider our home again. We love sharing our beautiful historic home and hope that you and others will enjoy it as we do. Thanks Brad and Paula

Enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

Paula and Brad made us feel very much at home in this cozy, very clean get-away near downtown Kalispell. They were entirely welcoming, at the house and around town, and gave us plenty of pointers for local eateries and things to do. Their unit is well equipped and nicely furnished, and we had no trouble settling in. While the home’s kitchen is somewhat small, not too small, the back-yard outdoor covered kitchen and entertainment space is a huge plus, great for small to medium size family reunions, which came in handy for our visit. The only thing we didn’t try was the outdoor pizza oven since we spent two nights at Moose’s downtown. 😉򒐊

We can’t overstate the handiness and usefulness of the gorgeous outdoor entertainment area. We spent most of our waking hours out there, whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and then into the evening. The back yard grassy area is great for a corn toss game, if set diagonally. Great times.

The only drawback was having the two largest beds in bedrooms next to each other, separated by a connect door, with the only exit for the far bedroom being through the other bedroom. This is great for having small kids to watch over, but not so great if you have 4 adult couples or a couple of teenagers. It’s the only point keeping them from a 5 rating.

All-in-all, a nice place for the money, set in a relatively quiet neighborhood with many beautiful trees, and a well-maintained yard, and meticulously clean house.
