About this property

Lake Huron Hideaway - A Northern Michigan Great Lakes Escape

Make memories in our cozy and peaceful home nestled in the fragrant Northern Michigan pines, in Rogers City, Michigan. Our house was built in the 1950's, and we renovated it with stylish mid-century modern touches. The updated kitchen has a gas range and oven and stainless steel cookware, great for cooking and eating in. The house is stocked with high quality linens, bedding, and towels, and we strive to make sure you have the essential ingredients for a comfortable and fun stay. Relax in the living room, which has a new gas fireplace, front and back sunrooms, or the enclosed backyard. There is a downstairs bedroom and a large upstairs sleeping loft. The house can comfortably accommodate a maximum of six guests.

The Hideaway is located a half-block away from the beautiful sandy beaches of Lake Huron and directly across from Hoeft State Park. Indoors we have a game room - with pingpong and foosball - and outdoors you will find a custom-built fire pit, grill, hammock, and outside dining area.

In summer, hit the beach and swim, paddle, or sail on Lake Huron. Set out for a walk, hike, bike or run on miles of public trails, beaches, and paved paths just outside the door. Explore nearby shipwrecks and lighthouses. In the fall, revel in the gorgeous changing leaves, or sip a cider after picking apples at a local orchard! Come winter, across the street you can access miles of groomed cross country ski trails, or head to the other trails in the area. In spring time, look for morels and enjoy the crisp nights and warming days.

We love traveling with our dogs, and we welcome your dogs, too! The backyard is enclosed with a fence, so if your dog is not a digger (meaning under the fence) or a jumper (meaning over the fence), he or she can also enjoy relaxing off-leash outdoor vacation time in the backyard. We have dog food and water bowls for your use, along with eco-friendly pick-up bags.

Due to the location of the home, there is no cable television (although we do have two TVs with DVD players and a nice collection of movies), cell service is limited, and we do not have internet or wi-fi. Many of our past guests have welcomed the peace and tranquility that comes with not having cable or internet. We have a land line phone for your use.

Happy Travels!!

Perfect Cozy Getaway
The Huron Hideaway was wonderful! The cottage is adorable, cozy, and has everything we needed and wanted. It is steps away from Lake Huron and the state park. The lack of internet and cellphone service made it extra easy to unplug and escape. The host Monica made my husband’s birthday getaway very special! Thank you so much!

Perfection
This home was everything I wanted and more. Warm and inviting with all the beautiful extra touches that made me wish I was staying longer. I never even thought twice about internet or cell service. I will definitely be booking again.

Huron Hideaway
We had a wonderful stay at Huron Hideaway. It was beautiful, clean, and cozy. It was also furnished very well. We loved the selection of books, games (indoor and out), the dvd selections, and the vinyl! The pieces of retro decor were so much fun! We also enjoyed the location so close to the beach. Beautiful walks, bike rides, and sunrises! The welcoming basket was also enjoyed! Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Great up north experience
Peaceful and immaculate. This is the spot. Fenced in yard for your pups, ping pong table for teens that are seeking an offline fun competition. This is our 3rd stay, so yes I highly recommend this gem.

Sunrise side 8/24-31
Our family vacations have always been on the west side, we decided to change it up this year. It helped to stay at such a nice property, with everything well thought out and provided. A nice selection of movies, vinyl, books and games. We brought a few of our own favorites too. A short stroll to the beach, nestled between private properties, we were able to view some stunning sunrises and the blue supermoon rising as well! Plenty of other public beach areas close by, and just a short drive to Rogers City, or up to Cheboygan, where we spent our one rainy day at the movies and did the shipwreck tour on a better day. Our week went by too quick, but we hope to be back next year!

About the host

Hosted by Monica

Host profile image
We, Steve and Monica, are both originally from Rogers City. We attended school together and were high school sweethearts. Over the course of the next 20+ years, we lived in cities all over the country, including New York and Chicago, and (at long last) married in 2014. We now reside in Northern Michigan with our three beloved rescue dogs and cherish our role as hosts for visitors from around the world. We hope you enjoy the Hideaway as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

The Hideaway property has been in Monica's family for decades. We renovated the house and added modern touches, while still maintaining the home's mid-century charm. We look forward to sharing the Hideaway and the unparalleled natural beauty of the area with our guests.
