The cottage is bright and sunny, loads of windows to take in the beautiful lakefront setting. And the setting is the main attraction, the beautiful shores of Seneca Lake! From the parking area you descend down to the lakefront cottage (37 steps). The charming covered front porch is built over the water and opens to the yard and the dock. The yard includes a shale beach, gas grill, outdoor dining space, and fire pit. The dock is great for sunning/lounging, swimming (dock ladder), and small craft docking. A paddleboat and kayak are provided for guest use. The cottage itself is fresh and sunny with an open floor plan including large living/dining room. The bedroom is outfitted with a queen size bed, plus there are 2 couch/futons in the open living room, providing total sleeping for 6 guests. Dining table seats 6. The galley style kitchen is bright and sunny and looks out over the water, outfitted with all standard appliances and amenities. The bathroom is a full bath with shower stall. Cottage is decorated in summer red, white, and blue, it feels like vacation from the moment you step inside!
We have a long history in the Finger Lakes, growing up in the area and spending summers on Canandaigua Lake as children. When we started our family, we decided that we wanted a summer cottage so that our children could have the wonderful experience of summer lake life, just like we did! So we bought a home on Seneca Lake in the mid-1990s. Over the years we've lived in many places -- Europe, Florida, Seattle -- and we currently have our primary residence in Seattle. But we always come home to Seneca Lake for the summer.
Arthur and Donna Fausel purchased this cottage in 2006
We discovered Seneca Lake in 1996 and have owned our home on the lake ever since. Our children grew up spending summers on the lake, it's our home base. In 2006, we had the chance to buy the cottage (which is located very close to our home) from friends who had owned it for many years but were retiring and leaving the area. We jumped at the opportunity, we'd always loved the cottage. We completely updated/renovated it with summer and vacation in mind, it's such a happy place filled with light and color. While we offer the cottage for rental to guests, we also use it for our own family and friends when they come to visit, thus we treat and care for it as we do our own home. We still spend our summers on the lake and although our kids are mostly grown and have busy lives of their own, they still return to the lake each summer for a brotherly bonding and fun.
The cottage is very special. It's sunny and filled with light, and the many windows look out on the amazing Seneca Lake. The front porch is magical, it's covered (offering a break from the sun) and built over the water, so you feel like you're on top of the lake! So quiet and peaceful and restful, you feel like you are miles and miles away from civilization, yet there are fabulous wineries and local restaurants just up the road!
This property is AMAZING!! The location is central to a variety of mini destinations. Property owns are available to answer all questions! We will definitely return!
We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Donna and Art made sure we had everything we would need or want. It was lovely to meet Art!
We loved Donna and Art's cottage. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to getaway and stay on Seneca Lake.
Everything you could want for that perfect Fall weekend in New York!
We'll be back!

We enjoyed a very relaxing three nights at the lake cabin, and found it to be homey and comfortable. The quiet atmosphere was perfect for "Getting away," and we loved listening to the waves day and night. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how chilly it would be in October, so we weren't able to enjoy the water, boats, and fishing equipment as we originally expected. But we did sit by the fire pit, sipping wine, and looking at the stars. That was beautiful.
We used the outdoor grill to cook one night, and found the kitchen to be well-stocked. Our only criticisms of the house are that the shower is tiny, and the bedroom is also very small. The queen size bed is all that fits inside with only a foot on either side to "walk" around. Unfortunately, my 6' 3", 230-pound husband was pretty uncomfortable in both.
Otherwise, The value of our stay there was very reasonable.
We spent to wonderful days here at the cottage. It was everything we could have hoped for. Quiet, Cozy, Comfortable! There was nothing left out of the planning of this cottage. We sat on the deck and watched the sunset and stayed out there because it was so beautiful. Donna and Art are WONDERFUL hosts!!!
We were two couples staying at the cottage for three night. The cottage was just as pictured and was perfect. We loved everything about the cottage. The cottage is right on the side of the lake. It was so nice waking up and sitting on the porch and sipping coffee or tea and looking at the lake view. They supplied everything you need except food and water. The view was awesome. We had wonderful weather while we stayed and used the paddle boat and the row boat that was provided. We also used the fire pit and had a nice evening watching the sunset by the fire. Donna was so kind and answered all of my questions and did so in a very quick time frame. We are planning to return to this cottage on our next trip to Seneca lake. You will not regret booking this cottage for your trip.
This special cottage is located on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, one of the most beautiful places in America. Located about 5 miles north of Watkins Glen (Nascar track), the cottage is on a private lake road, surrounded by forest and vineyards, in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine country. All along the east side of the lake -- and just minutes from the cottage -- are numerous wineries, micro-breweries, artisan craft shops, farm stands featuring local produce and cheese, and amazing restaurants. Added charm comes from the Amish buggies and farms that are throughout the area. And just a 1/2 hour drive to Ithaca (Cornell University, Ithaca College) to the east, Corning (Corning Inc., Corning Glass Museum) to the south, and Geneva to the north, all amazing towns offering many attractions. The cottage sits on Seneca Lake, the deepest and largest of the Finger Lakes, an amazingly clean and beautiful lake.
