Tranquil, Natural Setting Cottage On The Narrows Of Leelanau; A Peaceful Setting

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps up to 6

This 3 BR, 1 BA, fully equipped, knotty-pine Lakeside getaway is uniquely situated on the Narrows of 2 inland lakes (North and South Lake Leelanau) , on a peninsula, 4 miles west of Gorgeous Grand Traverse Bay, and 4 miles east of the Beautiful Lake Michigan sandy shoreline.

The cottage overlooks a wide spot in the Narrows which is filled with reeds and a small lake. It has become a Major Habitat for water creatures and birds of all sorts. Its lakeside location and small dock is PERFECT for easy access Kayaking and Canoeing ! Whether to investigate the nests in the reeds, the occupants of the cold water spring or the lilly pads; or to cruise the shoreline real estate gawking all the way into town; a short 15 minute paddle.

The quaint town of Lake Leelanau is a Leelanau County summer-or-bust little town offerring all the necessities of proper civilization. Churches, grocery, 3 cost tiers of restaurants, the famous Dick's Pour House, a winery (maybe 2), a distillery (all in Easy walking distance to Cottage !), a marina, a USPO, a beauty salon, yoga institute... and that's about it !

Fishing in the Narrows remains good year round, all varieties of fish pass through the area.

There are all kinds of nearby hiking and biking trails throughout the County, around 10-12 maintained trail heads within 10 minutes of the cottage. Beautiful, secluded Lk Michigan and inland beaches are just 7 minutes away.

Lake Leelanau is 5 miles from the historic little fishing village of Leland on the Lake Michigan side of the peninsula,

5 miles from the Beautiful bayside town of Suttons Bay (Shopping!),

20 minutes from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and its famous Dunes and Scenic Drive; as well as the bustling little town of Glen Arbor,

15 minutes to the fun little polish town of Cedar,

20 minutes from the end-of-the-world town of Nautically historical Northport,

15 minutes from the Casino,

and 25-30 minutes from downtown Traverse City.

The serene, restful setting of our cottage, coupled with its prime central Leelanau County location allow for a peaceful stay, or a busy Wine Tour, Sight Seeing, or Visit-to-See-Friends trip. Nowhere in Leelanau County is more than 25 minutes away; all sights and sounds, smells, adventures and Smiles are closer than that !

About the cottage: 1 BR w a Queen, 1 BR w a Full size, 1 BR w Twin Beds; sleeps 6; rate based on up to 4; babies (<4yr) free

A full kitchen with Refrigerator, Stove, Oven, Microwave, double sinks, and dining table.

An attached garage for weather-proof Grill-outs

a Gas Grill

a Comfortable Living Room featuring HD Broadcast TV + house-wide WiFi

a card / game table with chairs

The Highlight of the home is the View Room with its 110 degree view of the Narrows. The View Room is a large, comfortable room that is windows on 3 sides. The views of the pristine Conservancy shoreline on the far shore, Wildlife Habitat in the foreground, and along the far shoreline is the boat channel connecting the massive South Lake Leelanau to the deep, North Lake Leelanau. Its a great place to share a morning beverage or crack open a new book to read, or to be outside, only Inside.

From the North Lake you have access to the Carp River, heading right into the heart of historic Leland, with its riverside, Fine Dining. The South Lake will eventually lead you to the Victoria Creek which when traversed, leads into the raucus, delightfully fun little town of Cedar, on the south end of the Lake.

Nature's encroachment has caused our Cottage's boat dock to offer poor lake access for bigger boats, but is perfect to launch personal watercraft like kayaks, canoes, etc.

Our Cottage is a wonderful little home we'd like to share with you either for several days, a week, or a Month at a Time ! Please review my pictures and share our beauty !

Extremely peaceful!!

When you drive up to this house... be sure to go to the front!! Huge sunroom we lived on and watched all sorts of birds and wildlife. We rented this sight unseen. We rent CABINS... some folks think they want cabins.. but they want luxury second homes. This is a cabin .. with everything we needed to be comfortable and the privacy and quiet we love. It is a short drive to Leland and Sutten’s Bay and we bought homemade bread at 9 sprouts. John was incredibly kind and responsive to every question and need.

Relaxing Stay

Well-kept cottage with a great view. The kitchen was equipped with more than enough utensils, plates, pots and pans etc. Beach access is just a short drive away. The 4-season room is the perfect place to relax and watch lake life.

We had a very relaxing vacation. Property is close to bike paths, lakes, beaches and wineries. We were a little disappointed at the lack of access to the water behind the house but overall we had a very nice vacation. Could use some updates in the house. There wasn't a queen size bed as advertised, just two double beds.

La La Leland

  • 5 of 5

Great little town. Great location. Close to many attractions. House was spacious. Dated but accommodating. Best little beach was at the end of Pearl Street (turn right at the Leland post office). Very thankful that John told us about the beach. Lovely sandy bottom. We could float around on our rafts. It made the vacation. Cannot swim at the cottage. Best New England Chowder at the Cove Restaurant - I would travel back for it, it was so good. Enjoyed the Manitou Transit shoreline tour. Nice and inexpensive way to get out on Lake Michigan. Total chill week with adventures thrown in. I would go back.
