Just getting back from an amazing experience at Sunset Villa, San Diego CA. 3 family's under one roof and fabulous time. The home is very spacious so much room, we never felt cramped. The pool area was amazing, awesome pool and BBQ area. No one wanted to leave the house and when we did we dreamed of returning to it. Positives: Clean, large, everything you need in a home. View was lovely. We had the pleasure of meeting the woman in charge of the home for the "owners" Sue. She was awesome, so sweet helpful. Loved her. Made us two platters of food and cookies on two different days. And it was delicious (bonus).
Negatives: we had to go home. I cant say anything bad about this experience. I would highly recommend. This was my first time renting a house for vacation. I am very picky (ask my family) this was fabulous.
Accommodations were very nice. Of course the pool looked much bigger in the photo than in real life. I couldn’t get the large Barbecue to work. The tank was empty and even after changing it, it wouldn’t start. After looking at the burners and internal structure it needs to be replaced. The wine cooler frig didn’t work either. There was a large accumulation of rat poop along the pool which wasn’t surprising due to the exposure to the open field... but disturbing just the same.
The location was easy to find and easy access to the freeway to get to other locations. Just disappointed it wasn’t closer to the beach... but we knew that coming in. The view was very nice. It was perhaps a little higher in price than it should have been due to maintenance issues and more remote location, but we all had a good time.

Our property caretaker said that she informed you that the large grill was ‘out of service’ and there was another backup barbecue grill that worked and was available on the property for your use. The old large barbecue has since been replaced with a new one. With the proximity to the natural open space and canyon behind the property, there is a monthly pest control service that takes care of the property. We have taken the necessary measures to make sure the home is clean and enjoyable for our guests. We take a lot of pride in our home, in hopes that families can make special memories that they will cherish over the years with their own family. We feel as though we go above and beyond for our guests by stocking the kitchen with a variety of household items. Most everything in San Diego is spread out, but overall you can make enjoyable plans that are an easy drive to area attractions. We hope that you had a wonderful stay and hope you will come back again and fire up the new large barbecue grill. Thank you again for your feedback. Sea Bird Way home
When the hot tub pool pump broke, the management was speedy and very responsive in getting it repaired...they were welcoming and efficient..this is a wonderful family vacation home..
Great house....but rat in the pool....disgusting experience
The property and house are excellent and very comfortable and in very good location. It all started very good. But the day after we checked in I saw a rat in the pool and I felt sick to my stomach. Small kids in the family were playing in the pool day before.
The worst part of experience was - when I texted the picture of rat in the pool to property manger. The response I got was "Happens all the time, we just take skimmer and scoop it out". I thought that was very casual and callous. No sorry that it happened or it must be terrible to see that OR anything like that. If this happens all the time as manager puts it, I do not recommend staying at this property.

We are extremely sorry to hear about your experience with the “unwelcome guest” in the pool. Our resolution team reached out to the property manager who received your texts. We apologize that she didn’t handle the situation as you would have hoped she would. We reviewed the photo and it probably was a field mouse. Since there is open space beyond the fence behind the property that gives us our spectacular view, there is bound to be some wildlife experience from time to time. There is some misunderstanding regarding the property manager’s text message response to you. She said she was generalizing when she mentioned that it “happens all the time." She did not mean that it happens all the time just in our pool, but in all pools in general. It has only happened once in our pool, and unfortunately, it was during your visit. Our property manager said she offered to have someone from the team to come over, but it seemed like it was taken care of because you took it out of the pool yourself. We have informed our property manager of her unsatisfactory response and after reviewing your texts, she now understands how it could have been handled better. She extends her apology to you and says that she did not mean to seem unsympathetic or callous. We take preventive measures to decrease the chances of similar incidents in the pool and around the property. We have a monthly pest control service at the property and weekly pool service to ensure the pool is clean and has the proper chemicals for swimming. We hope you reconsider and will come stay with us again in the future, and we truly hope the field mouse did not put a damper on your entire San Diego vacation. It’s important to us that our home is appreciated by families so they can create enjoyable memories together as we have done with our own family. Wonderful Ocean View Property!!
We had an amazing time celebrating my daughters wedding which was held on Imperial Beach. The house was perfect for our large group and was exactly as described! We will definitely be back again!! 😊�
