I am a Minnesota native now living in California. I purchased this house in 2004 and completely renovated the outdoor living spaces and kitchen to create this warm and inviting home. I have traveled all over the US and to many countries around the world and find that nothing beats this home and this town especially in the summer months! I love to return to Minnesota each summer to enjoy my home and to visit family and friends. It is my goal to retire here sometime in the future - until then, I am happy to share my home with fellow travelers.
PATRICIA ROHOLT purchased this house in 2004
This location and home is my "dream home". I grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota on the lake and for me, nothing beats watching the boats come and go in the bay. I love the morning sunrise and evening sunsets and watching the sparkling water throughout the day! I enjoy having access to the town of Excelsior which has become a very active city with many restaurants, shops, entertainment venues all within walking distance. The access to biking and walking trails, summer farmers and flea market all add to the charm. In the winter months, guests will enjoy ice fishing and skating, snow mobiliing, cross country skiing, and the vibrant town of Excelsior.
I love the kitchen in this home as it has a great view of the lake and the active Port of Excelsior. The upper balcony off the master suite is a great place to relax and watch the boats come and go. Nothing beats morning coffee on the front garden patio and I have a wonderful perennial flower garden! Dunn Brothers coffee is just a block away as are a variety of stores for all kinds of shopping.
We had a great stay, and again, we were so impressed with the location. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything needed to cook up ;our holiday dinner. One of the neighbors was so kind to tell us about a snow emergency where we needed to move our car or it would have been towed!!!!!! The king, queen and day bed were fine, but I don't believe anyone but a small child could sleep on the pull out trundle bed. All in all, we had a wonderful stay, and would use this vrbo again.
Neighbors seem very nosey as one of them called the cops for a noise complaint. We were already in bed and my boyfriend happened to answer the door in his boxers, it was 9 at night and we were not being loud at all, rather strange.
Nice accommodations and great location.
This property was exactly what we were looking for when we planned a weekend getaway with our friends and their 18 month old! Everything you need is within walking distance, including a wonderful park with a playground, beach, garden, the Excelsior Marina, charming downtown Excelsior, and beautiful views of Excelsior Bay. The listing was accurate and the property was well maintained and clean. The beds were comfortable, there is plenty of room to lounge, and the kitchen was perfect for our Thanksgiving feast! We had a wonderful time and would recommend this location for anyone looking to have a nice relaxing time in a beautiful lake setting. We would love to come back in the summer months to enjoy the lake as it was a bit chilly when we were there in October. :-)
We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable updated home. Located across the street from Lake Minnetonka we had beautiful views of the lake. Fantastic location! We hope to go back soon.
The 6 of us had a great time staying here! The location is fantastic for food, brewery, and lake. The owner was very courteous and quick to make sure that we didn't have any issues with access. I highly recommend!!
