Island Colony is located in the heart of Waikiki. Close to everything-world famous Waikiki beach, world class shopping, romantic dining and dancing.

This is a renovated and luxury studio condo with one king size bed, full-size sofa bed, kitchenettes, full bathroom and large lanais with Ala Wai canal view.

You can enjoy cable TV and free Wifi. All bed linens, bath, beach, and kitchen towels, soap & shampoo provided. Extra amenities include laundry detergent, antiseptic hand soap, dish washing liquid & sponge, paper goods, extra trash bags.

Amenities:

The large pool and sundeck are located on the sixth floor along with a convenience store, coin-op laundry, and sauna. There is public parking in the building available for a fee. Long term parking is available monthly at reduced rates. A car rental agency, video rental store ,and internet cafe are located on the ground floor.

The bus stops within a half block from the property and offers transportation to the beach, local attractions, Pearl Harbor, Ala Moana Shopping Center, the Aloha Flea Market, Aloha Marketplace, Hanauma Bay, as well as trips around the Island.

CHECK IN TIME: 4 PM

CHECK OUT TIME: 1 PM

If you have a car, you can park for free on Ala Wai Blvd or any street parking. You just need to move your car on Mondays and Fridays from 8:30am to 11:30am for street sweeping. You can alternatively park in the building garage for $30/day.

Great Location, unit needs work

Photos don't show the complete picture. This was my first experience with a vacation rental so split up my 21 day stay into 9 days here at island colony and the remaining 12 days elsewhere within 2 blocks. Night and day! I was generous and gave 3 stars because of the location and pool. Floors in the living room look newer, but the kitchen and washroom need serious work. Bathtub cracked and covered with a cement-type glue. Bathroom fan didn't work, emailed Vicky but issue not addressed. Lock on sliding lanai door didn't lock, emailed but not addressed. Kitchen cabinets are way past their shelf life. Review from March 2016 indicated cupboards kept closed with a piece of cardboard. Issue still not fixed, and cardboard still there. Vicky was very quick to respond to my emails but never followed up, except when i told her about the washroom fan not working and asked for a can of febreeze due to the smell of mildew. The next day, a can was left at the front door. Overall, this unit should rate a mere 2, but due to its location, I give it a 3.

Good location, nice hosts

I booked this unit primarily because of the positive reviews of previous guests plus the awesome pictures of the unit, When we got in, it was not as nice as shown in the pictures, it's kinda deceiving, I think it needs some upgrades, from ceiling to cabinetry (missing door knobs)to wall paint and oh the bathroom tub needs to be replaced (cracks were just repaired with bonding cement). The lock on the door seem to be so easy to mess up with. (locks are just the ordinary regular ones that you see in bedroom doors.)

On the plus side, the host was quick to address our concern, one day when we got back from sightseeing, the AC wasn't working, made a call to the owner and they were prompt to fix it. It was nice that they were also able to accommodate our request for late check out as our flight was late at night. I think the hosts are nice people to deal with.

In terms of location, it is just a short walking distance to the beach and you could basically just take public transport to go see interesting places within Honolulu.

Wonderful time

We really enjoyed ourselves at this unit.

Pros: clean, spacious for a studio, wonderful lanai with table for 4 and loungy type chair and view of canal and mountains (which I prefer to ocean which is just black at night), quick response to a request for a couple missing items, very nice pool deck and hot tub, public bbq's were spotless, quite an expansive store on 6th floor, nice beach mat, boogie board and really nice beach and regular towels. Good security (there was a mix up on my checkout date and key card wouldn't work, security guard was very thorough making sure I was supposed to be there, wouldn't even take owner's verbal okay, insisted on email from her).

Cons: (not really of any concern though, just FYI), the building is a bit older but they keep it in good shape. Honolulu is a noisy city and all these older buildings have single pane or louvered windows and traffic seems to go on at all hours so unless you want to spend the big money on a beachfront new hotel, bring earplugs. Was getting a little worried about access info before arrival, hadn't heard 2 days before but then I did. I guess with back to back clients, one has to be judicious in giving out the info too early.
