This newly updated cabin on Big Wood Lake in Grantsburg WI is just 90 minutes from the Twin Cities. The 2 bedroom cabin has one queen bedroom and bunk beds in the other. There is also a queen sleeper sofa. Cabin includes a fully equipped kitchen and grill. The 500+ acre lake is great for fishing, swimming and boating and the cabin is located on one of the best fishing corners of the lake, so you can enjoy fishing right off the dock. This is the perfect place for a family getaway with plenty of fun activities nearby in addition to the lake - golf, mini-golf, movies, horse back rides and much more. Enjoy our kayak and canoe or bring your own boat and dock it at the cabin. Roast marshmallows and listen to the loons and other wildlife at the fire pit in the evenings.
I grew up in the Frederic/Grantsburg area and spent every summer on Wood Lake with my extended family. Our family currently lives in Plymouth, MN and while we love to spend time at our cabin, our kids activities seem to be keeping us away more every summer. Thus, we decided to rent out our cabin and hope that others will get a chance to enjoy it until we can again spend more time there.
Barb Rippberger purchased this cabin in 2007
Growing up spending time at Wood Lake every summer, it was natural that when it came time for our family to purchase a cabin, this would be our first choice. The cabin is only 90 minutes from the Twin Cities and there are many wonderful things to do in the area. Enjoy golf, mini-golf, movies, winery tours, horseback riding, hiking and biking.
my family of 5 stayed at the cabin for a vacation, and it is wonderful! The cabin is very clean, everything worked perfectly. The lake is very quiet, the swimming/boating was just what we were looking for.
plenty of water toys to have fun with. Thanks again!
We spent 5 days at this cabin. It was clean and well maintained. It does not fit more than four adults comfortably. I traveled with 3 teenagers and my husband and the bedding situation was not the best fit for us. There are no doors on the two small bedrooms, and there is a partial wall between the two bed rooms. The bunk beds are more suited for young children.
The kitchen and bathroom had all the comforts of home.
The nice living area had lots of room and games to play,
The lawn and dock were well maintained. Lots of water toys. The aqua Lilly pad was a big hit.
My group a friends and I were looking for a getaway to hang out, play, and relax by the water, and that's exactly what we got! The owners were very easy to communicate with and always helpful. The cabin was spotlessly clean and so charming! Right in the back yard you'll find the lake with a canoe, kayak, and aqua lily pad right there for you to use (if you're never tried and aqua lily pad, you're in for a treat!). The best part, of course, was building a bonfire in the backyard at night and watching the breathtaking stars on the dock when all is quite at on the lake around you. We all agree that we definitely recommend it!
Calm water, lots of green trees, and lovely morning sun..what a perfect place to spend a summer weekend.
This cabin is a fantastic getaway from the Twin Cities. The living and dining areas look out onto the beautiful lake and there is lots of space outdoors to explore.
We especially enjoyed kayaking, listening to the family of loons, and sitting by the lakeside campfire.
Great communication from property owners was also appreciated.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking for some peaceful time on the water!
