Property type cabin

About the property

Mountain And River View Private Yurt Accomodations Nestled in the Forest

On the property are three individual yurts in a remote mountain setting with a main building that houses the common art studio/living area, and fully stocked kitchen. The private bathroom/shower for each yurt is in this main building. We're on 20 acres on a ridge overlooking a river valley with a mountain range at each end and miles of forest property behind. Quiet, serene, peaceful, star studded sky, rejuvenate, surrounded by nature outside and beautiful art inside. Hike, paint, rest, eat, relax.

This listing is for the Purple Yurt furnished with 1 double bed, 1 single bed, and a love seat. 3 persons maximum occupancy.

Your private space is your yurt, and one full bathroom in the main building. All guests have shared access to the common room, the kitchen, and the property.

See our other listings on VRBO/Homeaway for the Green yurt furnished the same, and the Orange yurt with 3 beds (1 double bed, and 1 twin over twin bunk bed), plus a love seat (sleeps 4 max).

The yurt has its own cast-iron propane heater/fireplace and has electricity. The main building has heat and air conditioning, and plenty of light for reading or socializing. There is a propane BBQ outside on the deck. The large main room doubles as an art studio for the resident artist and she offers many art supplies for guests to paint acrylic in plein air or watercolor at the studio table. The space is clean, modern and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay as we have retreats here all year. Also, there is a fire pit with plenty of wood, an amphitheater with a large stage for yoga and other activities, along with benches and trails around the property. The energy is divine!

Why Julie & Ed chose Sandpoint

This property is close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away to be perfectly quiet, serene, and surrounded by nature. We overlook the Pack River, and are bordered by national forest.

You can hike for hours and never see another person, but may well encounter deer, moose, or see soaring eagles.

Spend a couple days in one of our yurts and you may never want to leave!

What makes this cabin unique

We are close enough to enjoy what the town of Sandpoint has to offer, but far enough to feel as if you are in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness.

Hidden Gem

This piece of paradise is amazing in so many ways. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Ed and Julie who immediately put us at ease. Generous in spirit and with their resources, we were able to settle in, prepare dinner on a beautiful BBQ, enjoy a glass of wine as we painted in very cool common area. I hadn't painted since grade school! Curious rabbits and squirrels everywhere you look!

A short walk to our Yurt, admiring the night sky shining with an intensity and brilliance I hadn't seen in a long, long time. Hiking trails second to none to find panoramic views of the Selkirk Mountains! Short trips to river or lake waters, coming back to enjoy a camp fire with S'mores provided by Ed and Julie. The attention to detail is incredible. This is much more than a business. These people truly desire that you leave this place with a restored heart and soul.

Forget staying in Sandpoint! Come up here! You will have no regrets! Can't wait to get up for the change of seasons!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the wonderful thoughts, Dan. Our greatest joy is seeing the transformation in our guests from the minute they arrive (from the world of work and stress) to the time they leave with more sparkle in their eyes having rested and felt the peacefulness of this place. You're welcome back any time, and be sure to bring your grand daughter next time. You'll have a great time watching her enjoy all the little gems of the forest and river. Ed & Julie

Julie and Ed have thought of everything for a comfortable, relaxing stay. I was surprised how far above and beyond they have gone to make there guest feel at home. I would highly recommend staying in one of the cozy yurts. I especially loved there common room with all of the art supplies, books, and tarot decks to play with.

My second time staying was even better than the first. Didn't think that was possible 😊 Julie and Ed are such great people and hosts--always attentive and available when you need, but give guests plenty of space to have their own experiences. They have thought of everything to make your stay easy and carefree! And the fresh mountain air just can't be beat.
