Description

Photos and Description of this holiday cabin in Sandpoint - The Purple Yurt

Mountain And River View Private Yurt Accomodations Nestled in the Forest

On the property are three individual yurts in a remote mountain setting with a main building that houses the common art studio/living area, and fully stocked kitchen. The private bathroom/shower for each yurt is in this main building. We're on 20 acres on a ridge overlooking a river valley with a mountain range at each end and miles of forest property behind. Quiet, serene, peaceful, star studded sky, rejuvenate, surrounded by nature outside and beautiful art inside. Hike, paint, rest, eat, relax. Great winter activities - snowshoe or Nordic ski right from your yurt.

** WINTER ALERT: All wheel drive vehicle is required for our driveway once the snow falls! Easy access for all cars in all other seasons.

This listing is for the Purple Yurt furnished with 1 double bed, 1 single bed, and a love seat. 3 persons maximum occupancy.

Your private space is your yurt, and one full bathroom in the main building. All guests have shared access to the common room, the kitchen, and the property.

See our other listings on VRBO for the Green yurt furnished the same, and the Orange yurt with one single bed, and one bunk bed with a single on top and double below, plus a love seat (sleeps 4 max).

The yurt has its own cast-iron propane heater/fireplace and has electricity. The main building has heat and air conditioning, and plenty of light for reading or socializing. There is a propane BBQ outside on the deck. The large main room doubles as an art studio for the resident artist and she offers many art supplies for guests to paint acrylic in plein air or watercolor at the studio table. The space is clean, modern and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay as we have retreats here all year. Also, there is a fire pit with plenty of wood, an amphitheater with a large stage for yoga and other activities, along with benches and trails around the property. The energy is divine!

Why Julie & Ed chose Lake Pend Oreille

This property is close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away to be perfectly quiet, serene, and surrounded by nature. We overlook the Pack River, and are bordered by national forest.

You can hike for hours and never see another person, but may well encounter deer, moose, or see soaring eagles.

Spend a couple days in one of our yurts and you may never want to leave!

What makes this cabin unique

We are close enough to enjoy what the town of Sandpoint has to offer, but far enough to feel as if you are in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness.

Great yurt!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in one of the three yurts and absolutely loved it.There are several beautiful hikes nearby, plus a large fire pit for fires in the evening. The common house is incredibly well set up for cooking. It would be an ideal place for a family reunion or for a small group of friends to meet up. As we were on a cross-country trip we could only stay one night, but I very much hope to return in the future for longer stay. Plus I want to have the chance to talk with Julie and Ed longer!

Incredible Experience...Can't wait to return !!!!

  • 5 of 5

Julie and Ed are amazing hosts that completely set you at ease on arrival.

A beautiful location on the side of the mountain overlooking the valley. It is a short drive to Sandpoint…Beautiful beaches, nice small town feel, great places to shop for groceries…

We arrived and the weather was perfect. You ring the bell on the common house for guests and Julie will arrive a minute later all smiles…

After introductions she took us on a tour of the common house…A beautiful buildings. Sunny, air conditioned, an art studio and many many other amenities… Ed had has drawn out a map of the surrounding are of the trails rivers lakes and great sites to see. Easy to read with distances and miles.

After a review of the map and some general chatting Julie took us to the fully stocked kitchen. My god ! every herb and spice imaginable and everything you need to make some great meals. Which we did !!!! No need to eat out.

The property is absolutely beautiful. Cropped, clipped and clean but very natural at the same time.

The Yurts are big ,bright, beautiful ,very clean and have a very comfortable and open feeling to them. The only thing you can hear are the trees and the wind… With the occasional humming bird buzzing around.

There are many spots across the property you can sit and just enjoy and multiple trails that lead right off the property to some stunning views.

After dinner we went for a stroll through one of the shorter trails to a spectacular look out over the valley.

The night brought on the full moon…A perfectly clear and gorgeous night…Sitting by the camp fire lit by the moon light glass of wine in hand … Perfection..

The beds where amazing. I don’t know if it was the activities of the day or the mountain air but we slept hard… I woke up refreshed and energized…Opened the Yurt door to a beautiful morning in the middle of nature…

I wish I was a better writer so I could do Julie and Ed a little more justice.

I hear October is beautiful There !!!!!

Yurt-tastic

  • 5 of 5

Simply put, our stay in one of Julie and Ed's yurt was fantastic. Everything about our stay was phenomenal, but most of all, Julie and Ed's hosting-with-the-mosting skills was beyond phenomenal. From sharing an upside-down peach cake with us to letting us borrow a poncho during an unexpected rain, they were terrific! Already thinking of when we can return.

They thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

We came to Sandpoint but instead spent most of our time on Julie and Ed's property. It is located in a gorgeous area just outside of Sandpoint with hiking trails, a mountain river and look-out benches with beautiful views. The yurt was spotless and comfortable and the accommodations (private bathroom, art supplies, snacks, and more) were more than we hoped for. I can't stop telling my friends about it. We will definitely be back.

Sanctuary in nature with modern amenities

  • 5 of 5

The yurt is so cozy and peaceful with a spacious interior and comfortable bed. There are the perfect touches of decor that convey the warmth of the hosts and the genuine pride of ownership everywhere in the yurt, on the carefully tended, yet natural, landscape and in the shared kitchen, common room and bathrooms. It is a lovely sanctuary.

I've had the opportunity to stay on the property many times and have always connected to the great outdoors whether I was using the property as a base for visiting the Sandpoint, ID area, hiking in the mountains, sitting on the covered porch or practicing yoga in the natural amphitheater.

You will be taken with this place and start to plan your next trip before you leave. Don't miss it!

What a retreat. A reset. A moment that takes you deep into nature and allows for introspective time

  • 5 of 5

This Unique and beautifully manicured retreat center offers an abundance of connectivity - the connectivity that counts! I have enjoyed it several times with a group or just on my own as I move through a process. The hosts are such loving and gracious people - just what you need to recharge your batteries in this crazy busy distracted world. I give it 10 stars and would recommend it even if you don't think you need to get away. Laughter and life are rekindled for family and friends at this gathering place. The yurts are clean and lovely for star gazing... Enjoy and don't wait to long!
