We know you'll enjoy our home, as much as our whole family,(30 people of all ages) has enjoyed it through the years.
We are both educators, with roots in the west, who graduated from Utah State and Colorado State. We soon found ourselves with 5 children and time to travel in the summer. It didn't take long for us to discover that this area was one of our favorite places of recreation and rejuvenation. Time has passed, the children are all married and we now have 18 grandchildren, who have also learned to love Cedar City and all the surroundings.
So here we are, excited and able to provide plenty of room for you and your family to discover on your own, just how truly incredible this little corner of the world is! We love providing you the opportunity to appreciate the beautiful surroundings, while enjoying a vacation in Southern Utah. We have fallen in love with this area and we think you will as well.
Keith and Gladene Donaldson purchased this house in 2003
We purchased this home because of its charm and close proximity to SUU, to allow two of our children and their friends to have housing while attending the University.
After they graduated, we rented it out to our son and his family for a few years. They later moved 2 1/2 hours away to Las Vegas, so it was then available to invite our friends and family to stay here. Since they all enjoyed our house so much when visiting the Cedar City area, they planted the idea in our heads to rent this comfortable home to others. The University, Shakespeare festival, Utah Summer Games, skiing in the winter and the National Parks, keep people coming back. We love the idea that we were within 1/2 to 2 hours of some of the most interesting and beautiful places in the world.
Our comfortable Cedar City home is 1 1/2 blocks to Southern Utah University campus which offers many sporting and cultural events, including Utah Summer Games and the Shakespeare Festival. Brian Head is a close 30 minutes away for invigorating winter sports and mountain bike trails. Year round golfing is available at the Cedar Ridge Golf course and the many golf courses to the south. Las Vegas is 2 1/2 hours to the south and Salt Lake City is about 3 hours north, and about 6 hours from surfing in So. California. Then there are the tremendous National Parks (from Zion to Bryce to Capitol Reef to Canyonlands)... need we say more?
My family enjoyed spending 2 nights in this home. It gave us plenty of room to spread out for sleeping. We didn't cook anything while we were there but it was nice to have the fridge with water bottles available and popcorn and soda in a nice basket. It is an older house but it is clean and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. We couldn't get the house cooled down very much. I'm not sure if it was a problem with the air conditioning or if we just didn't know how to use it. We managed since we were gone all day and opened the windows in the evenings. I would suggest some more lighting in the family room. It is pretty dim for reading. All in all I would recommend staying here.
This home was a great escape from the Hotels. We spent a week in Cedar City attending the Shakespeare Festival. It was close enough to walk to the plays. It was clean and nicely furnished. We had everything we needed, AC, WIFI, Direct TV, barbecue and washer/dryer. I love being able to cook at home. It is nice quiet neighborhood. It really felt like a home.
We would stay again.
P & M
We had a lovely stay at the house. It is well located for the festival in a quiet neighborhood. We had all the necessities of home provided. We were able to grill and cook for our family very easily. There were 6 of us and we had no problem with sleeping arrangements. Although, 6 people and 1 bathroom posed some challenges. I will very happily recommend this property and hope to come back to stay again.
This home was not very clean and needs a lot of TLC. The toilet and bathroom floors were dirty and the sink was cracked. The walls haven't been painted for years. The refrigerator had old food in it and smelled funny. This being said we appreciated that, at least, the bed sheets were clean.
The place was well kept and clean upon entry. The check in procedure was very easy and we were able to start enjoying our rental immediately after arriving. The kids loved the trampoline (after I swept the pine needles off) and basketball hoop in the spacious backyard. Everything in Cedar City was within walking distance or a very short drive. Parking in the driveway allowed easy access to the car for packing/unpacking and there was ample street parking out front. This place is a great value, given the price of hotel rooms for the time we visited. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, especially if you have large group (up to 6) and want to stay together.
We stayed in the upstairs part of the house while we were in town for the Utah Shakespeare Festival (which I highly recommend... we've been coming for years). Keith was very friendly and easy to work with, but you should expect a day or two before getting responses. We found the home very clean and comfortable, including very comfortable beds, which is a big deal to me. The front porch and the back patio were excellent places to hang out in the mornings and evenings; I loved the porch swing on the patio after the sun had gone down. There are a few minor things that could use a little TLC, but all in all, we felt welcome and comfortable (and the price was definitely right). Thumbs up!
This property is surrounded by several National Parks: Zion, Cedar Breaks, Bryce. Sand Hallow, Quail Creek, Three Peaks Recreation Park, Kannaraville Falls, Cold Creek Canyon (Hwy 14) are also nearby. The famous Shakespearean Festival is 1 1/2 blocks away.
