Truly, a peaceful property within easy walking distance of downtown Hot Springs. The lovely back porch and yard provided a quiet and beautiful view, offering inspiration as I dabbled with my paints. I enjoyed the kitchen, brought my own pans but didn't need them! Everything was there and I love to cook. It was also nice to walk to dinner, walk to shop, walk to the trail and to the Hot Springs Spa...if you love to walk, this is the place for you! Wish I could have stayed longer.
Melanie was wonderful, easily accessible and helpful! The house was clean and well maintained. This property is easy to find and close to perfection. I'd suggest a couple of things. For me it wasn't an issue, but some people do enjoy television and don't bring their laptops on vacation. You might consider adding to the property description that a flat screen and HDMI cable are provided, for those interested in using their own subscription entertainment services to view television programming or movies. Also, a mattress upgrade would be nice. :)
Most people visiting Hot Springs spend more time outdoors, and if that's you, this is a wonderful get-away. I can't emphasize peace and quiet enough! It's nice to spend time with local shop owners, an outfitter is nearby with provisions for those spending time on the Appalachian Trail. I picked up a few things there and truly enjoyed shopping with a local gallery. Price points were wonderful!
I didn't cook evening meals, ate out. The Smoky Mountain Diner offers true, southern comfort food and their in-house meatloaf will not disappoint. Tried the veggie specialties at The Iron Horse, The Spring Creek Grill's pizza and locally sourced music was a blast. Loved the patio, it IS smoking, just so you're aware. Lots of breezes, wasn't an issue for me.
You'll want to make reservations with the Hot Spring Spa, for a late night soak! They also offer massage. The nightly soaks certainly help with sleep, I highly recommend them!
Occasionally, my mind would begin arranging furniture and imagine spending my retirement years in this house! As you can see, I would definitely return!
This house is within walking distance to anything in town, the French Broad River, and the Appalachain Trail. It is very clean, organized, and charming. The front porch is delightful with a swing and ceiling fan. The street is very quiet. There is a lovely view of the mountain from the back patio and a fire pit. We had a very enjoyable stay.
The house was charming and conveniently located. It was clean and well appointed. The wifi didn't work for the duration of our trip, which was an inconvenience because there is minimal cell service and internet in the immediate area. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
I took my girlfriend for Valentine's Day to the hot springs. Found this cottage that is literally 1 minute walking drive from anywhere you want to go. We had the time of our lives. The house itself is very comfy. Nice size living room and dining room. Bedrooms were very nice also. The fire pit in the back yard was the best. I would give this a 5 star but the only thing that we didn't like was the fireplace inside didn't work. But their suppose to be fixing it up. Other than that it was a perfect getaway and like I said we will be coming back for sure. Oh also Melanie is the nicest person you will ever speak to. She was great and made sure we had a perfect time.
The beds were very uncomfortable, only one had a real mattress. The others were futons. The landlady also had her spy's lurking around, and it was creepy and stressful. It was a shame, a relaxing weekend that turned into a ridiculous uncomfortable mess for less money you can get a suite at the spa with a mineral hot tub in your room. I recommend that as an alternative to a bad night sleep and extra charges despite careful cleaning and respectful use of the property.
Step outside your cozy cottage and you are hiking the Appalachain Trail where the French Broad River meets the trail. Hot Springs was listed as 'Best small mountain town in the South' by Blue Ridge magazine. Many hiking trails, natural mineral baths, downhome restaurants, local music and arts, seasonal festivals and friendly folks.
