Walk under the arbor and down the garden pathway, passing the pool on the way to your private entrance to this charming retreat. This lovely apartment has all the comforts of home including a fully equipped kitchen and washer and dryer. The enclosed porch provides space for a desk on one side and a cozy dining table on the other. The kitchen has a breakfast bar and overlooks the living room. In the bedroom, a comfortable queen bed and antique dressers create a restful retreat at the end of the day. The large bathroom has plenty of storage space and a closet for the washer and dryer. Make yourself at home!
Feel free to harvest fresh herbs for your meals from the herb garden just outside your front door (availability varies by season). There is an alfresco dining table just steps away from the front porch. Additionally, there is a gas grill available for barbeques. By request, we can offer an evening fire in the fire pit. During the season, you can pick fresh oranges, lemons or loquats off the trees in our yard.
We live on the property in a separate house, so we are usually available if you have any special requests or need assistance. We are happy to assist you with directions or suggestions for things to see and do in the area. We look forward to getting to know our guests and treating them to some down home hospitality!
We have a huge driveway, so there is plenty of free parking for RVs, trailers or multiple cars.
We love the fact that we live in the country, but our property is still very convenient to everything because we are just 3 minutes away from the Turnpike. With all of the trees and blooming plants surrounding us, we have plenty of wildlife, birds and butterflies. You may see people riding their horses down the road or wild turkeys in the side yard. Athletes take note: Our home is located on a clay road which is rated as one of the best surfaces on which to run.
If you need anything while staying here, kindly let us know so we can help make your stay pleasant. We want you to relax and enjoy your stay, but we expect the house to be treated respectfully. No smoking inside. Sorry, no pets allowed as we have guests who have pet allergies.
I am a beach lover whose dream is to own a beach cottage someday. In the mean time, I am lucky enough to live in a place where everyone else comes for their vacation! I love to travel, love to have people over and enjoy seeing new places.
When we travel, my family and I prefer to stay in a rental house rather than a hotel. We've had some great experiences and look forward to being on the hosting side now, using the knowledge we've gained to improve our guest's stay in our apartment.
While hosting 3 foreign exchange students, we've discovered how much fun it is to learn about other countries and cultures. I'm looking forward to meeting fellow travelers and sharing their stories while helping them create new memories here in Central Florida.

We love the Central Florida area and South Lake County in particular because of the rolling hills and plentiful lakes. Since moving here several years ago, we have enjoyed discovering the many fun things to do and unique places to visit that Florida offers. We love to share our little corner of paradise with friends and family who visit, taking them to our favorite parks, museums, restaurants or festivals. But time and again they say their favorite thing to do is hang out at our house and relax by the pool.
Now we look forward to making new friends of our guests and helping them discover the many reasons we love to call South Lake County "Home".
We loved our stay at the Hillside Gardens. The apartment was very cozy, clean and thoughtfully appointed, the room was very comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The kitchen and bathroom were spotless and everything was of good quality and was in working order.
The owner was very pleasant yet non-intrusive and we were very pleasantly surprised by the care they had put into providing even the smallest of necessities for their guests. There were so many little things that we thought we were going to buy but instead we used what they provided; at some point we needed a light-backpack and sure enough there was one!, (laundry soap, pliers, nightlight etc...) and the neatly sorted maps and guides were a great help (Thank You!).
Outside the trees and garden were very nice, along with the dining/barbecuing area; the road had no traffic so it was very peaceful.
We found that a short drive on nearby route-27 south takes you to a large selection of restaurants and stores in Minneola and Clermont, but we also took nearby route -19/33 for a nice long drive through old Florida ranches with very little development, We enjoyed both the convenience and the traditional.
Overall we would recommend the Hillside Garden and look forward to future stays.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at this property. As advertised, the apartment was separate from the owner's house and very private. We seldom saw the owner and felt very much that the place was ours. There is a large patio type area where we could BBQ, sit out and eat our dinners outside and enjoy the quiet sunny evenings. We had the use of the pool.
The apartment was spacious, clean, well maintained and incredibly well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of dishware, pots, pans, cutlery, glasses, all the necessary utensils, soap, foil, wrap, appliance etc. We had brought with us a lot of supplies in case it wasn't well equipped but it turned out we didn't need to bring anything except groceries. The bathroom was fully stocked with towels, soaps, toiletries, etc. Didn't need to bring anything for there either. And the laundry area came equipped with plenty of laundry soap. The apartment had many maps and information brochures for the area. The owner thought of everything. And she was very friendly but unobtrusive. She provided great customer service - asking regularly whether there was anything we needed.
We found the location of the apartment great for what we were visiting Florida for - namely triathlon training. It is out in the country just a 15 minute drive to Lake Minneola Water Park which is a great start and finish point for various cycling routes and for running along the Lake Minneola shore. You can also swim in Lake Minneola. It's also not far from the National Training Center in Clermont for swimming in its magnificent outdoor pool.
Located in the country, this is a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle. However, since you are only 3 minutes away from the Florida Turnpike, you can drive to Disney World in 35 minutes, Orlando International Airport in 45 minutes, and downtown Orlando or the Millenia Mall in just over 30 minutes. Plenty of shopping and restaurants are just 15 minutes away in Clermont. Lakeridge Winery is just a couple of minutes away. Golf at nearby Clerbrook is inexpensive and close by. If you need more ideas of things to do, stop by the Lake County Visitors Center just up the road.
