What a cute house to spend Labor Day weekend! It had everything we needed, we hope to come back someday!
The Farm House on North Mountain was very clean, comfortable, and all around fun. Our first night after unpacking we ate dinner, made a camp fire, and watched the stars in the yard next to the house. The following morning we took a short drive to Rickettes Glen State Park and hiked around the beautiful falls, returning to the house for afternoon naps, followed by dinner, a camp fire and stars. Everyone loved the house and had a very good time. If you are ever going to Rickettes Glen or Worlds End State Parks, this is the place I would suggest you stay!
The area was a perfect location with lots to do. Couldn't have asked for better weather and having fans in ever room was nice.
We loved the screened in porch and areas for everyone to have their own space. The old farm kitchen brought back wonderful memories of our youth.
The extra guest house for two was nice but would have been great if the toilet had been working. Lots of water so no problems with showers (we had 10 people -6 adults and 4 kids).
What a lovely old house in the middle of greenery, bird songs, and rustling leaves. The Farmhouse was our family's home base after hiking Rickett's Glen, Eagles Mere, and World's End. I loved the country kitchen with everything I needed to prepare simple meals to start and end our day. The plush towels and artisan soaps were a thoughtful touch in the bathroom. No one , not even my teens, missed air conditioning as it cooled down every evening we stayed, even in late July, and the electric fans were sufficient. My mornings began with meditation and reading on the screened-in porch. I was only sad to miss watching a sunset because it rained on our last evening. We would love to return with grandparents and cousins.
We had a great time at Slip Run Farm. It was ideally situated for our family reunion in Eagles Farm and my brother's relatives in Nordmont. The home has real charm and we especially enjoyed the screened porch and the country kitchen. The scenery and weather was great this time of year as well. Nice new parking area in the front of the farmhouse was a nice addition and the attached small house was charming. Would recommend this house to anyone.
This home was perfect for our family's mid-week getaway!! I felt like I was 10 years old again, visiting my grandmother's farmhouse for summer break! The home is on a picturesque mountainside, surrounded by breathtaking vistas and cool, wooded valleys. Just the drive up to the home transports you from the hustle and bustle of life into a serene, peaceful retreat. You first cross a creek on an iron bridge, wind through tall oaks, poplars and pines, and then emerge into a clearing where you can see for miles across the mountains that converge here. It takes a moment to process the various shades of green from the trees and meadows, and that first breath of fresh, crisp mountain air which fills your lungs and revitalizes you - even on a 90-degree mid-summer day. The home has ample space for a large family or group of friends, with comfortable seating and spacious bedrooms. The kitchen is light and airy, with high ceiling and country sink & stove. The rental was clean and well-maintained, and provided everything we needed - including plentiful linens, books, games, kitchen utensils & cookware, fans for every room (no air conditioning, as it is just not needed), bicycles, and a nook and cranny for everyone to claim as their own for simply relaxing! My favorite room was the screened porch off of the kitchen - we spent plenty of time there during the days and evenings, playing cards, planning the next day's activities, reading, and just talking & catching up with our family members. We visited the nearby state parks and enjoyed nature walks to pick wild raspberries (delicious!). Saw a few black bears, numerous deer, and even watched a family of wild turkeys crossing the road. Enjoyed the sunset near the red barn, and watched birds, butterflies and deer crossing the property through the clearings. Dinner at the Sonestown Inn is a must! If you require a high-velocity, jam-packed vacation with minute-by-minute activity and constantly "plugged in" to Wi-Fi and Internet - this is NOT the place for you. There is a TV and cell phone access, but we didn't need it. We enjoyed the radio in the living room while we were relaxing. Here you can truly reconnect with nature, get to spend quality time with family and friends, forget about stress from work and life in general, and just breathe again!! We are already planning our next trip to North Mountain and arranging for a longer stay at the farmhouse! I would recommend this home to family & friends!
