Overview

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 Bath, Steps to the Ocean

Hale Nanea is tucked away on a private road with a quiet secluded beach in front. The peaceful gardens around the house and white sand beach just steps away allows you to enjoy your own piece of island paradise. It is located on the North Shore of Oahu near world renowned surf breaks but away from the hustle.

A lagoon that stretches the length of the beach is perfect for snorkeling. There is surfing on the reefs on the outside of the lagoon in the winter.

There are elegant gardens surrounding the house that feature many native plants. The house is furnished with hand made furniture and accent pieces from Indonesia and Asia.

You can enjoy the quiet tranquility of the house and beach or within minutes be in the town of Haleiwa for dining, shopping and drinks.

Owners live on the property. We are available if you need anything but your privacy is of the utmost importance to us and will always be respected. When you enter the property you pass our house and when we walk to the beach we pass your house.

***Please note*** Our first child was born December 2016 so there is an infant on the property. The houses share one wall that has the laundry room, storage and a bedroom on our side. Noise transfer has not been an issue except what is heard out the windows.

About Laura Shannon

My husband Jake and I are both from Iowa but we met here in Hawaii. Our mutual love for the ocean brought us together and made us want to build our life here together.

Laura Shannon purchased this house in 2015

Why Laura Shannon chose Waialua

We recently purchased this property from our friend Tom. He had transformed the place into an amazing beachfront oasis. We just got married right here on the beach in front of the property. We fell in love with it and I'm sure you will too.

What makes this house unique

The beach in front of the house can't be compared to. It's so quiet and peaceful you won't want to leave.

Better Than Expected!

  • 5 of 5

Before renting Hale Nanea I read all the reviews which gave it all high ratings. When I read reviews I alway eliminate the best and the worst reviews and find a happy medium place. This place received all 5's! So I was super excited. The cottage is connected to the main house but it was extremely private. Laura did an excellent job in reaching out to us to make sure all our needs were being met but never intruded or made us feel uncomfortable. Our cottage faced the ocean and it was set back in a beautifully landscaped yard that was lush with Hawaiian plants. The sliding glass door faces the ocean so you can sit indoors and still hear the soothing waves. But the BEST part is that you have access to your own private beachfront with a table and chairs so that is where we tried to spend all our time when we were home. Coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening...and star gazing at night! Heaven! The beach is mostly used by people who live in the area so it was pretty isolated. We took long walks on the beach with very few people. We have been to all the other islands but was a little reluctant of Oahu thinking that it was all about Waikiki (which turned me off!). We loved, loved, loved the North Shore and the drive around the island was very easy. After hiking Diamond Head and Manoa Falls we headed for some lunch at Duke's. The food was awful and the beach was packed. We were so happy that we could hop in our car and drive away from the crowds. The beaches and drive on the East coast was fantastic but still so happy that we were staying in the North Shore. Highlights of our trip: Bird Sanctuary (Ka'ena Point) where we saw Albatross and Monk Seals. The 6 mile RT trip was flat and on the coast. Due to the reviews that it can be very hot (and no shade) we went early in the AM (8:00) and it was overcast so no problem with the sun. We loved Kalama Beach (slightly north of Kailua Beach). Less crowded and had no problem finding parking...which can be a problem with Kailua and Lanikai Beaches. Again you can take a long walk on the beautiful white sandy beach. And last but not least....Shaved Ice at Matsumoto. I was turned off by the long line but it only took 10 mins. Splurge for the condensed milk topping which makes it creamy. I hate snow cones (too sweet) so I was a little leery but the shaved ice was so refreshing...even went back the next day. I appreciated all the previous reviews that helped me select this GEM!

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Swan with turtles . Didn't lock the house up once. Woke to doves cooing. Nothing else matters :) Highly recommended.

Well kept and clean. Very good accommodations. Outside gardens were great. Beach and ocean views were the best. Saw many turtles. Close to town for groceries and restaurants.

Quiet and Beautiful Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Hale Nanea is a great place to relax and unwind. It provides complete privacy though the owners are on site and available if needed. The beach is just steps away and the sound of the surf is always present. The gardens around the house are beautiful. The house is clean and well kept. Haleiwa with restaurants, grocery stores and shopping is only a few minutes away. Would love to make a repeat visit!

Memorable

  • 5 of 5

We had a very unique experience at Hale Nanea. There aren't many places in Hawaii you can wake up on a Sunday morning and have the whole ocean to yourself. Literally. In your backyard. The snorkeling right outside your door is full of tropical fish and creatures. Look for the Medusa worms.

The quarters are comfortable and homey. Laura and Jake do a great job.

The location is the magic here. Very private, which we loved, but you could get to town (Haleiwa) in minutes for whatever you need or want. Horseback riding at the polo grounds just down the street. Hiking also. Or just a massive expanse of beach to comb for hours ... best beaches on the North Shore without fail.

Only great things to say about our experience. We would come again.

Amazing!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This stayed here days 3 & 4 of our 15 day trip to Hawaii. We enjoyed our entire trip, but nothing compared to our time spent here. I was most looking forward to seeing a sea turtle on this trip and saw five during our two days here! Enjoyed snorkeling here too! Very clean rental, the windows allowed a wonderful breeze through the entire house. When life brings us back we will most definitely stay here again! Thank you for sharing your property with us!
