About Jim Maxson
We are raising our fifth generation of family on the island. Since 1921 my family has been part of an incredible history here. My wife and I are empty nesters with our youngest at Grand Valley State University. We have traveled enough to know that we're not moving off this island. We purchased the cottage from our next door neighbor and best friend when he past. We have completely remodeled and really didn't know what we were going to do with it. Our kids and grandkids are all local and use our house next door like a family should, often ! So instead of cleaning up after our kids, we have decided to offer it on a limited basis for rental.

Why Jim Maxson chose Kinderhook
This property has it all. location, location, location. Just think about it. Your on an island, big lake, the best sunsets, golf, tennis, beach camp fires, fishing, walking, breakfast on the deck lakeside, summer stock theater. The best next door neighbors you could ask for, us. You won't want to leave.
What makes this Cottage unique
Obviously I grew up on this island. I have done extensive travel for work and personally. I love coming home to my small house in paradise. I smile all the way home even after a tough day. The world doesn't exist off the island, while I'm on it. If your a busy excecutive, you will fall in love here. You will meet other people that will tell you the same. You may even recognize a few names.

Enjoyable stay with all of the comforts of home
We had a great week at Dunn-4-Funn with the relaxation of a lake cottage but all of the modern amenities. It was so nice to have towels, linens, tp, paper towels, hand soap, etc all provided. Comfortable furniture was also appreciated as the cottages we've rented the past few years have been lacking in that area. Our family enjoyed a round of golf and several matches on the tennis court in addition to a lot of time on the water.
Jim & Jenni are wonderful hosts and we enjoyed visits on the deck with them. We hope to make a return visit in the future.
The surrounding area is quite unique. In the front yard of this cottage, originally built in 1941 and freshly remodeled in 2015, you will find a 1600 acre all sports lake. This lake connects to 5 other lakes via a channel system. You can boat 17 miles through the incredibly beautiful channels and connecting lakes. Pack a lunch and be our families guest at our private boat slip on Corn Island (available weekdays only for certain). Here I have a large deck with table and grill. There are two restaurants on the chain of lakes. You can reserve a pontoon from the marinas on the lake for a daily or weekly charge. They are very nice boats. There are many sand bars to get off the boat and swim.
Out your back door you will see the private tennis court. So if you play, don't forget you racquets. Just a few more steps you will be on the #1 green of Iyopawa Island Golf Course. A very nicely kept 9 hole course. It looks easier then it plays. The island itself is a great place to walk, jog, Rollerblade etc.... it's apprx 1 1/2 mile around the island, on the asphalt.
This cottage sits on a private drive. This leads to more privacy and a more quiet surrounding. The cottage faces west for the most breath taking sun sets you can imagine. You won't want to miss a single one of them.
There is, what we call, a party store just a short distance from the peninsula. There you can pick up your necessities and favorite cold drinks. About 15 minute drive to either town of Angola IN or Coldwater MI. If your a theater buff, Coldwater has the most beautiful old historic theater that you'll ever find. Their summer theater program is quite wonderful.
You will have many questions upon arriving. We should have the answers. Our grand kids are the fifth generation to grow up on the island. My great grandfather built the 2nd cottage on the island in 1921. At this time it still stands but is slated for demolition soon.
Most people that visit, return year after year. Many buy a place and never leave.
