Myself and a riding buddy stayed 2 nights while attending the Barbers Vintage motorcycle days. As a motorcyclist the road from the interstate to the cabin was great, curvy and scenic. We found the cabin with no issues. Inside the cabin is a double bed and a bunk bed. There were a lot of spider webs around the tops of the walls to the roof, I am not scared of spiders so it was no big deal, for others it may be a deal breaker. The real issue was with the bunk bed. I started sleeping on the double bed which was quite comfortable, but when I woke up in the middle of the night I found my riding buddy awake and saying he couldn't sleep because the bunk bed was so bad. I seldom have sleeping issues so we swapped beds, with me getting in the bunk bed and my riding buddy instantly falling asleep on the double bed. The rest of the night was quite uncomfortable with me frequently waking up and my back starting to ache. After a day at Barbers we came back for night 2, I took the top bunk mattress and doubled up the bottom bunk bed mattress to try and make the bed more comfortable, but to no avail, frequently tossing and turning with limited sleep, waking up the next morning with a back pain that lasted through the following week. Over all the cabins and campground are nice, but there is no way I would stay a third night on the bunk bed, they are absolutely awful.
Was looking for a place close by to get away for a few days. This place was perfect. Cabin was cozy & comfortable. A/C worked great as did the mini fridge. Bathrooms/showers were private and nice and had towels & washcloths Provided as well. I highly recommend this place for individuals or families wanting to get away from the city, but still close enough to areas of interest (DeSoto Caverns, Leeds outlet mall, & Birmingham). Overall it was a great experience & I will definitely be telling my friends about how great this little gem of a place is.
If you are looking for the camping experience without having to wrestle with a tent, this is your place! The cabins are perfect for the rustic feel of camping, kept clean and cozy with the thrown in extra of a mini fridge! However, you still get to enjoy the charm of camping with all the typical outdoor activities. The bathrooms were the best camping set-up I've seen, I even showered and typically don't during a weekend camping trip. But, they were inviting and clean as well as supplied with towels. The onsite bar and grill was a treat especially for the teenagers as they had recently installed a karaoke system and we enjoyed the evening as a family, like many were, at the fire pit and pool tables. Now that part falls outside of typical camping, but it made it extra interesting and special! Perfect for a weekend escape for two or the whole family for some fun.
This is a nice place to stay to camp. It is located up in the mountain.
The road to get there is very curvy. There is no bathroom inside the cabin.
But it was okay. We didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The bathrooms are outside.
The cabin was clean. The space is enough for a family of four to sleep. Just to sleep.
We took our two little dogs, Lou Lou and Tekila, and Mitch didn't charge us any fees for the dogs. That was very nice of him.
Mitch, the owner is very nice. He stop by a few times to ask us about our stay. We love the place.
We are planning in going back in the Summer.
Buddy and I stayed for 5 nights in early October. Couldn't have asked for better. Cabin and facilities were very clean and comfortable. Great host who made sure we had what we needed. We met some really good people around the campfire each night. I would definitely return and would recommend for anyone who wants a higher end camping experience.
Thanks for the stay!
We stopped here on our way from Wildwood, FL to Hot Spings, AR. We have two dogs that do not like nor understand hotels. So, this was our alternative to a hotel. This IS a campground and these cabins should just be considered wooden, temperature controlled tents. The description says 1 bath but that bath is NOT in the cabin. It's a short walk to the community bath houses. The bathrooms were very clean and well equipped.
The cabins are very clean with comfortable bedding. There is a window unit AC and a small fridge in each cabin.
I think the cabins are priced right, the facility is clean and well cared for, the staff is very friendly, and you would enjoy staying here as an alternative to tent camping.
Explore Desoto caverns or climb Vulcan! The kids love Tree Top amusement park. Talladega is 31 miles and Barbers Motorsports is about 10.
