Log Home On Two Acres, 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, Two Fireplaces, Large Bar
About Ada Hoyt
I grew up in Virginia and built this home as a retirement home. We currently live in Florida and aren't quite there yet, but really enjoy sharing our home with guests while we wait!
Ada Hoyt purchased this House in 2003
Why Ada Hoyt chose Clarksville
I absolutely LOVE Clarksville. The beauty of the Lake is breathtaking and the folks are some of the most hospitible I have seen. I chose this property to build the cabin on, because it is on a cove and gives you that private, cozy feeling my husband and I love to enjoy on our stays. The water view is beautiful, but the trees are equally so.....like being in a treehouse!
What makes this House unique
We had always loved log homes and wanted to eventually retire in one. I am an interior designer by profession, so the home was great fun to furnish by "antiquing" locally for some of the furnishings. We try to spend at least 3 months a year there, so it is our part time home as well. We have been so grateful over the last 12 years to the many guests that have treated our home as their own. The trees surrounding the log home allow you to really feel as if you are in your own large treehouse!

Absolutely Stunning Cabin!
The owner of this property was so nice to work with and the cabin is stunning!! It was the perfect place for our ladies weekend retreat. I highly recommend this cabin.
Wonderful place and very relaxing!
Great place to escape to. Very comfortable and well maintained.
Thank you so much for the kind words. We love sharing our home and really love hearing that we are doing a great job creating a get a way that our guests can enjoy!
Great House, Great Lake!
We had a wonderful time at this property. The house was very comfortable for our family and friends. We used the dock for our ski boat and had an awesome time skiing and tubing on the lake. The location on the Bluestone Creek section of Kerr Reservoir was great and off the main lake for great swimming and recreation. The hot tub had some issues while we were there, but Ada did a great job trying to get it fixed (it was fixed with a couple of days left on our rental) and she kept us in the loop on what she knew from the maintenance guys. Some may not like the lack of wireless signal access, but it didn’t bother us and was easy enough to get on daily trips to town. Overall, it was great experience and we loved it.
Totally unplugged, if that is what you are looking for
This is an honest review of this rental. This is a very nice property and the lake is beautiful. We enjoyed renting a pontoon boat for a few days and really enjoyed ourselves out on the water. My family was happy that pets were allowed. We did not order the linen package, but they were on every bed when we arrived. Couldn’t call anyone so we put them aside and used the linens we brought with us. Beds were not comfortable. A word of caution, both stairwells are lined with framed pictures. If not careful, they can easily be knocked off the wall by kids and adults alike. The kitchen has few plates so expect to run the dish washer about every day (We had 6 adults and 2 kids). Also essentially no kid appropriate cups were available and dining chairs are white cloth covered. Most of the bathrooms could use more places to hang towels to dry. None of the light switches are marked so it took us a while to figure out how to turn on the outside lights.
Note to anyone who potentially rents this house, do NOT expect to have a cell phone signal and there is no wifi provided. We didn’t expect wifi because it is not in the listing, however when no wifi is provided one would expect in 2018 that a cell signal is possible. There is a land line for any incoming calls and local outgoing calls. The owner claimed that the sitting area near the fireplace on the main floor could be used to make cell phone calls, but that is not the case. The company that set up the installed cell phone booster came out and verified this. Had the listing specifically stated that this is a dead zone, then there would be no expectation otherwise.
I will comment below, as I am surprised by this review. *Regarding white chairs: 6" behind the white chairs there are 4 metal chairs with black cushion fabric. If there was a concern, the chairs could have been easily switched out.
**Regarding linens being on the beds: The cleaning lady's name and number is always on the counter, if you wanted her to come remove the sheets. I am also always a phone call away ready to help. I believe having beds already made up would have been appreciated by most folks.
**Regarding the number of dishes: The cabin is designed for 8, so there are 8 place settings of dishes. I personally have never rented a home with several sets of dishes, so that the dishwasher does not have to be used daily.
**Beds not being comfortable: The two king mattresses were 3 months old when you stayed at the cabin. They are very good quality: Serta - Wynnfield. My husband and I sleep on one of the kings 5 months a year and find it extremely comfortable and my family comes quite often from out of town and sleeps on the other mattresses. As you know, not all folks like the same mattress. The cabin was rented for the entire summer, without incident.
**Kids cups: Correct, there are no kid cups. I would not be able to anticipate individual parents concept of what their children should drink from. Parents bring children's cups, as we do for our grand children when we rent. Did you notice the numerous movies and lounge chairs for children? I feel the cabin is very child friendly.
**Space for towels to hang: There is at least 4 places for towels to hang in each bath, so I am unclear as to this concern.
*Stairwell frames: Folks actually have positive comments on the family pics. This is our home that we share, so they will always be in the hallway. With our grand children we have not found a problem.
**Exterior light switch: There are 4 switches only in that room, but I am happy
**Cell service: Although for years a signal could be found in front of the fireplace, Verizon has now moved the signal per Exceed. Cell service is not listed on the site as an amenity, so folks will know there is none. I have provided a landline for any calls that need to be made and folks probably go into town almost daily for various reasons and check their phones then, if necessary.
The perfect place to unwind, unplug and enjoy the beauty of the lake and the cabin itself!
Unplugged and refreshed!
The house is gorgeous and filled with everything we needed. So peaceful. I really enjoyed all the family photos and decorating style. It fit perfect for me and my four grown children, plus the infant granddaughter! We could be together but separate if we wanted. There was no wifi service that we found and cell service was sketchy, so we had a wonderful unplugged weekend!! I would definitely book this house again!
Thank you for all the kind words.
Please return, as we love sharing our home with folks!

Great getaway for family or couples!
Very nice log home located up a quiet cove not far from boat launch. Bedrooms and bathrooms on all 3 floors. Multiple TV’s, hot tub and dock!! Limited internet service. Plenty of parking available. Bait shop just down the road. Only thing missing is a pool table. Owners very good to work with. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all this is the place for you!

Berry Hill Plantation
Marveling at one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in Virginia as you travel up the tree-lined drive, you’d almost expect Scarlett to slip through the massive columns and glide down the stairs to meet you. Built in 1842, this eight-columned home is the quintessential southern antebellum mansion, once the seat of one of the most successful tobacco plantations in the region. Previous owners of the property included Colonel Edward Carrington, who fought alongside General Nathaniel Greene in the Revolutionary War. Berry Hill lay in ruins for nearly 50 years before being meticulously restored to its original pre-Civil War grandeur. Today, you can enjoy gracious southern ambience in one of Berry Hill Plantation. Clarksville Bridge Lighting & Night Fishing
Since Clarksville flipped the switch on 76 fishing lights on the Clarksville Bridge in March 2006, the bridge has been alive with night fisherman. Two rows of Hydro Glow lights were installed on each of the 19 bridge pylons, one row above the lake water and one below. Underwater lights attract millions of feeder fish, which attracts large game fish.
