Why Dr. Ruth Dick chose Salzburg
I used to live in the 3 room apartment and I love it because it is so close to the center (15 walking minutes) but in a quiet residential area, in a small house with altogether 6 apartments, with a private parking place for each in the yard and a small garden in the back. What I also like about my apartments is that they have doors and windows in 3 directions so they are airy and there is almost always sunlight coming in somewhere. There are bus stations not more than 4-5 walking minutes away, still it is quiet, you don't hear the busses. And you can walk to the historical center in 15 minutes through pleasant streets. I also love the tall Magnolia tree in the back yard.

Comfortable and well equipped
We loved the apartment. It was comfortably furnished and well equipped. The owner provided detailed information for us before we arrived; when we arrived she had prepared a great guide to the apartment and the area. She was extra helpful by arranging a taxi for us. We liked being away from the tourist areas. However, it's only 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the center; it's also on a busline.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay. I am very sorry I was not able to meet you. Hope to see you back in Salzburg some day. Best wishes, Ruth
Studio was comfortable, bathroom shower extremely tight, WiFi always going off and tv losing signal. Not as close to city center as expected, Able to figure out bus transport which was fine but clearer description helpful. Neighborhood quiet. Bit of a walk to get grocery supplies. Washer/dryer worked well.
My cleaning lady always leaves a map on the table where I drew in the shortest way to the historical center (15 minutes walking distance ) and the next supermarkets and bus stations. Bus station of the bus which takes you to the center and to the train station is 4-5 walking minutes away and the next supermarket about 10 walking minutes away but there is a bakery neat the hus station, just 4-5 walking minutes away. It is also marked on the map. You could. also have asked Mariana, who takes care of my apartments and my guests when I am not there, as I wrote you in the instructions. She would have helped you with pleasure. I am very sorry you had problems with the wifi and the TV. This is rather unusual. I apologize for the inconvenience. I am also sorry you found the shower so tight, it is a notmal shower cabin of 80 cm. radius. I am really sorry for the inconvenience. Best wishes, Ruth
Stay like a local
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Salzburg at Ruth’s place. The apartment was in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to bus stops, market, and bakery, and had everything we needed, including access to washer and drier. Ruth provided a wealth of information, including maps of the city and public transportation, as well as ideas for hiking and day trips., and contact info in case something went wrong. (It didn’t.) Her directions for finding important places like bus stops, restaurants, and markets were accurate and helpful. We especially enjoyed the neighborhood beer garden Weinstucki Stadheurger, and for a treat, St. Peter Stiftskeller restaurant, both on Ruth’s recommendation.
Well equipped, clean and well located to the inner city of Salzburg.
A nice little flat for two or three people, clean and well equipped. Off road parking, a good place to use as a base for exploring Salzburg and area. Dr. Ruth was a gracious hostess.
Nice clean apartment fully equiped in quite area.
The apartment was clean, well equipped, including a good bed, shower and kitchen.
It is however a good walk to the centre of town.
There is a supermarket close by and some very good coffee shops and restaurants.
Overall our stay was most enjoyable.
over the top
i am a 70 year old woman who enjoys traveling by myself & go on 4 two week adventures a year. very rarely do i stay in a hotel & have found wonderful rentals on vrbo. this rental is at the top of my list. dr ruth dick is an amazing woman whose attention to detail is second to none! the apt is so well equipped that one could easily live there! i am a gourmet cook & had everything i needed in the incredibly equipped kitchen. it was so nice not to have to run to the store to get salt, pepper towels, dish soap, etc, etc. ruth met me @ the apt & showed me around. it took me 20 mins to walk to the ctr of town & it was an easy walk. i felt safe & walked home in the dark all 5 days i was there. it was a pleasure to rent from dr ruth dick!
I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure meeting you. Hope to see you back in Salzburg some day. Best wishes, Ruth
The apartments are at Ganshofstrasse 18, close to the historical center, in the part of the city called Max Glan, about 8 minutes driving distance from the airport and from the freeway and about 10 minutes driving distance from the train station.
How to get there: Coming form freeway A 10 EXIT Salzburg Airport, go ahead to the first traffic light, then turn left to the Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse. At the end of Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse turn right to Maxglaner Hauptstrasse. After having passed a small bridge, turn left to Straubingerstrasse. At the end of Straubingerstrasse turn left to Ganshofstrasse. It's the second house on the left side, a light green house. From the airport take either a taxi or bus number 2 to Hans Schmid Platz. Go back about 100 meters until you see a sign 'zum Gasthof zur Einkehr', Before this sign turn right , cross the little bridge and turn right into Ganshofstrasse up to number 18. Or take bus 8 to Glansteg, cross the street,, walk a few meters back, turn right the narrow way and cross the little bridge, then turn right into Ganshofstrasse and walk up to number 18.
Attractions and activities:
within a walking distance of 15-20 minutes you can reach most of Salzburg's main attractions. The Festspielhaus where concerts, operas and theaters are played, the Getreidegasse, a beautiful street in the historical center where you will also find Mozart#s birth place. There is now a museum in that house. The fortress Festung Hohensalzburg from which you have a beautiful view on the city. But my favorite place for a beautiful f view is going up the elevator to the Mönchsberg where the museum of modern art is situated, there you have the nicest view on the old town.. The Dom, Salzburg's biggest church, several other beautiful churches, the old cemetery with its catacombs, the Peter's Keller- which is supposed to be the oldest restaurant in Europe which offers good food and evening concerts with or without dinner. The mirabell garden, on the other side of the river and close by the Marionettentheater, a very artistic puppet theater for adults playing operas by Mozart. You can take a bus to the palace of Hellbrun and watch the water games which are really fun and take your kids to the zoo. Or take your children to the museum of science in the historical center, the 'Haus der Natur' . This just to name some of the most important attractions.
Ski: The closest Ski mountain is the Untersberg in Salzburg. With the car it takes about 15 minutes to get there. There are also busses going there and there is a skibus in winter that takes guests to different ski resorts.
