It was a perfect vacation

  • 5 of 5

I took the family on a week vacation in June. The cabin was great for the family and was in a great location. The cabin was clean and was ready for us when we arrived. If you are looking for a place to rent for the week and want to be in the mountains then this is a great place. There are many spots nearby for fishing, waterfalls and kayaking. I will be back again. We had children and they had fun down at the water.

Not a nice rental

  • 1 of 5

If I don’t have something nice to say I usually don’t say anything at all. However, I rely heavily on reviews so I feel compelled to help others with this one. My husband and I liked the location but it was difficult getting out of the driveway which is on a hill. We were welcomed by a bin of dirty old shoes by the front door. The screen door was coming apart. The deck was dirty - unswept. The grill was filled with ashes and cigarette butts – and propped up with a rock. The lid broken. Inside was dimly lit and dirty. The furnishings and decorating are blah. The welcome book was falling apart. In the kitchen there was grime on the oven knobs oven not clean inside – used tin foil on the bottom - spills all over the door. Cabinets dirty and dusty. Coffee pot and items on the counter were dirty. Freezer had food spills and left over ice scattered around. The bathroom was horrible! Toilet paper basket full of dust, thick dust on light fixtures. The shower fixtures were coming out of the one piece fiberglass unit. Literally, there were gaping holes in the unit where they should have been attached so water was getting all inside behind the walls. The whole thing was stained and the shower curtain was moldy along the bottom. I will say the bed linens seemed clean – it was the only place in that entire cottage that felt clean. Even the dryer had musty towels left inside. Outside, the stairs leading down to the water are steep and treacherous –There should be a warning on the property description. By the river there was an old mildewed hammock, old shoes and cigarette butts on the ground. There was a fire pit down there but I wouldn’t use it at night when most people have a fire because there is no lighting to get back up those stairs! We had a chance to see inside adjacent cottages and they have granite counter tops, nice furnishings, and they were CLEAN! AND they rented for less money! We called the owner to let him know how filthy the place was and he blamed it on his housekeeper. She came by the next day and said the owner doesn’t give her enough time to clean properly. Owners should take pride in their property and ensure cleanliness. My advice is not to rent this place. My husband and I ended up leaving early because the place was so disgusting. We stay at a lot of VRBO rentals and this was the worst. It could be a very nice place if the owners took some time to repair and remodel it.

Owner's Response: In response to this you would think I would be on the defensive ....my wife and I immediately went up to the cabin and inspected our cabin and to our surprise ,these folks had every right to complain .i was embarrassed .we pay good money for this cabin to be cleaned and it wasn't .we visit every 3 to 4 months and expect it to be perfect and it wasn't . I did not charge a cleaning fee and if they wanted their money back I would have done so. For the maid to say I don't give her enough time to clean is unfair ...... We have never had a back to back rental in the two years it has been on the rental program......so enough of the excuses...... My wife and I have done a deep ....very deep cleaning .....we do take pride in our cabin .....that cabin is the best thing we have ever purchased and count down the days til we return .....I'm am so sorry if these folks had a bad experience and I promise I tried to do everything I could to right this situation ......we truly just wanted people to feel what we feel when we are up there.....every thing has been addressed and rectified from the maid to the plumbing......except the stairs.....it's a long way down to the river .....but I promise not treacherous .....

The cabin was perfect

  • 4 of 5

Our trip to the cabin was great coupled with attentive and friendly customer service. The cabin was perfect, the location was on an amazing section of the Toccoa River, cabin size was perfect for 3 large fisherman. The cabin if your fishing is also nicely located near many great Toccoa River access points and a short drive to Noontoola Creek. I will be back!
