About Martin and Carol

We were both born and raised in Michigan. Our best memories are our summers with our family and friends at our Brulee Point home in the beautiful Upper Peninsula.

Martin and Carol purchased this house in 1999

Why Martin and Carol chose Hessel

We renovated a seasonal 1950's cottage into Brulee Point Lodge to accommodate our lifestyle "The more the merrier". We both have large families and wanted room for us all to gather, slow down, relax, appreciate nature, and build memories with friends and family - that's what it's all about.

We would love nothing more than for you to stay and enjoy yourself so much that you come back :)

What makes this house unique

Location. Nestled among the cedar trees down by the lake, Brulee Point Lodge offers majestic sunrises overlooking Hessel Bay and the West Entrance of the Les Cheneaux Island chain. Tranquil retreat with protected deep water frontage and permanent dock. Many sites to see in the area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Enjoyed our visit in your home so much. Beautiful home. With kids, all the things to play were great. Had a wonderful peaceful vacation. We have done this at different places several summers and I love this house the best so far. Quality time with grand kids.

Beautiful Brulee Point Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The Lodge at Burlee Point is an apt name. It is a grand structure, but the attention to detail to not lost on the owners who care to be sure that the greatest to smallest detail is first class in quality and comfort. We spent a week at the lodge and up to the last day discovered surprises in the decorations or the finishes. It was a luxurious getaway that will be difficult to exceed.

Pick your time and forget about the labor that awaits you at home or work. A true vacation.

Amazing! Better than the pictures!

  • 5 of 5

This place was amazing! It was beautiful, right on a clear bay. So much to do right at the cabin with outdoor games, fire pits, grill, kayaks, canoe, toddler little tikes toys, etc. Location half hour from Mackinaw port, 2.5 hour drive to pictured rocks lakeshore. House was fully stocked with anything and everything you would need. Cabin was amazing, we had a party of 10 and there was more than enough room. They even had a large size popcorn popper for a movie night.

Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We've rented this place multiple times and it just continues to impress. Great place to settle in for some warm times with family and friends. The waffle mix and maple syrup left for us by the hosts was a nice touch that we all enjoy. Can't recommend this place enough.

Great House-Hassle Free Rental- Great Owners

  • 4 of 5

This is a great house, we used it in the winter months however I can see it would be an outstanding summer spot also. We did not have any surprises, the owner communicated timely and provided accurate details. This was a no hassle rental, deposit check was returned quickly. Great for large family or even muti-family rental. During the summer months it will have multiple congregation areas under any weather conditions. Enclosed porch areas plus game room could keep a family entertained even on a rainy day.

A perfect, lakefront retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 (4 teenagers, 2 adults) enjoyed a wonderful stay over the cold New Year at this fantastic vacation home. The property was very well maintained, CLEAN and nicely furnished. It is located in convenient and easy to find location, approx 45 minutes from the Bridge. During our 4 day stay we went sledding (near the Italian Cemetery" hill in Hessel), snow shoe hiked at Tahquamenon Falls, visited the Le Cheneaux Distillery, and relaxed at the lodge! The lodge is outfitted with nicely equipped bedrooms, comfortable beds/ linens, (amazing double size bunks for the kids), and ample bathrooms and recreation space; this allowed our entire family space to relax. The house itself is immaculate, well cared for and exceptionally clean. The kitchen is fully stocked, with ample seating for a large group. The multiple indoor and outdoor spaces are ideal of beach recreation, bonfires and great views- if it were warmer we would have enjoyed the outdoor space more! The fireplace was fully stocked with firewood for our use and the family enjoyed the game room, ping pong, air hockey and board games providing opportunity for quality time and relaxation. Truly, this was one of the best rentals we've come across. It's not "just a rental", but clearly a beloved family vacation home. The owners take great care and pride in this property- A special place to enjoy precious time with family and friends!

Beautiful, comfy, cozy, spacious home that will take your breath away! Year round fun for all ages!

  • 5 of 5

This is a simply gorgeous home with absolutely stunning views! We were here for 4 days over Christmas 2017. The owner had Christmas decorations out and a waffle iron and fixings waiting for us, which made the holiday experience even more magical. It was snowy and bitterly cold during our stay, but with amazing in floor radiant heat, electric blankets on the beds, a killer fireplace and a caretaker who kept us plowed out, who cares!

The owners were wonderful to work with as well. We were traveling with an 84 year old, with knee and hip issues and all my advance questions regarding her needs were answered quickly and thoroughly. We would come back here again in a heartbeat!
