My husband and I love living in Montana. We enjoy hiking, kayaking and cross-country skiing. We love all the outdoor time we can spend here in a very unique location on an old ranch that is now a small community and wildlife haven.
LeVay Lemon purchased this house in 2003
If you want a very quiet, unique Montana ranch experience this is the location for you. We knew when we purchased the property that we would enjoy peace and quiet. We no longer wanted to live in a neighborhood setting. Lot's of opportunity to view wildlife and mountains. Enjoy coffee and the sunrise on your patio in the morning and watch the evening light wash over the ranch with a glass of wine. There are rivers to fish and float, lots of hiking, Yellowstone National Park close by. Cook as much or as little as you wish in the full kitchen. Bozeman offers great dining, shopping and activities. Yellowstone National Park can be enjoyed as day visits from our location in winter and summer.
When you drive over the single lane bridge that crosses the Gallatin River, you take a step back in time and slow down. You will traverse the gravel roads a bit slower and have time to take in the views and wildlife as you make your way to Three Dog Ranch. Once you arrive here the accomodations, views and open space will soothe your soul and allow you to unwind and enjoy a true Big Sky experience.
My husband and I stayed here in July 2016. The location is breathtaking. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. If you like stargazing, this is the place for you. We saw wildlife on the property and on the drive up to the house. LeVay was a wonderful hostess. She gave us wonderful suggestions for places to eat and scenic roadways to travel. One evening we had the opportunity to spend time with her on her balcony and greatly enjoyed her company. Her two labs are extremely friendly and welcoming. The accommodations were beautiful and made us feel right at home. There were many personal touches, including bathrobes, throughout the house .We will definitely stay here again if we return to Montana (and hopefully we will). Thank you again LeVay for your hospitality.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Three Dog Ranch. LeVay and Al, and Sweet Pea and Max (their black labs)are lovely hosts who make you feel very welcome and comfortable. The location is beautiful and the accommodations are fantastic! LeVay has gone out of her way to add all the little touches to make your stay special. The beautiful scenery, incredible sunsets, and wildlife are something we looked forward to everyday of our stay. We will be back!!! Thanks for everything Levay and Al!
LeVay & Al are wonderful & friendly host. House was fabulous..well furnished..The view from the property is gorgeous.. Three dogs are friendly & quite..Patio & Fire place made stay worthy. I will try to visit once again at this house & stay for longer...
LeVay and Al are such gracious hosts sharing their home and love of the outdoors with us. We were a group of 4 so each couple had their own bath and bedroom on opposite sides of the house for complete privacy. If we had a question or needed something they were quick to answer our questions and get us what we needed. We were able to see deer and elk around the property and many different types of birds flying into wooden boxes LeVay and Al have around their property. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular and we could view them from the front patio. I would highly recommend this property to any one who is wanting to get away from the city and want to be in a rural setting in the country.
I highly recommend the Three Dog Range for a vacation stay. The accommodations were clean, beautifully decorated, well stocked with what you need. LaVay and Al were friendly, and if you had any questions they were always available to answer them along with suggestions as to where and what to do. The serenity of the lands around their home was wonderful. You could see beautiful sunsets, wild animals (deer, elk, antelope). If you wanted to hike the hills, there were trails and gravel roads to walk on. It is the perfect atmosphere to just relax and feel calm. We even made smores over the fire pit outside on the patio. If you don't want to cook, there are restaurants down the hill to eat at. Bozeman is just 30 or less away, and Three Forks is the other direction about the same distance for whatever you may want to do in town.
This is a must see, must visit destination. LeVay & Al and their Black Labs are wonderful! Cozy loving home very easy to live work or play in. Easy cook in kitchen (and I like to cook) everything there you could use for big or small meals, Comfortable Living room has views that are perfect for relaxing or watching for all the wildlife that roams the property. Bedroom has the most comfortable bed and pillows… super cozy and the windows in that room open up to a beautiful morning glow of mountain and beauty. Our daily hikes were amazing, views upon views. LeVay will show you Landscape sites that will leave you with memories and wanting to come back. Every day that we drove out (or coming back in) we saw either deer or antelope on the side of the road… they would even stop (if you drive slow) and look at you for a picture… if you talk softly (LeVay told me) they will just stop and stare at you! THEY DID we got awesome pics!
20-30 min to get into downtown Bozeman, super cute town, lots to see and for breakfast (if you don't cook at the house) we recommend the Nova Cafe on main street (walnut pesto scrambled eggs OMG soooo awesome). Weekends plan on a wait… they serve breakfast until 2pm everyday! (btw flying into bozeman is great also) Definitely get to the property during the day… don't drive that road into 3 dog ranch the first time at night. After the first trip it will be super easy. her directions are perfect!
Go see the "Montana Grizzly Encounter"… Trust me… you will like it… sooo amazing.
We will be going back every year… Wonderful people, kind, caring… family to us now!
truly a wonderful getaway, retreat, or just a long weekend away!
