The view and location of this spacious second floor apartment at The Wheeler House can't be beat. It is in the heart of historic downtown Rockland and has breath-taking views of the harbor and ocean beyond. The apartment accommodates 2 with an oversize bedroom including 2 new queen size beds with luxurious linens, closets, TV, WIFI, overstuffed reading chair and a magnificent view of the harbor. The living room is beautifully furnished with modern comfy furniture, large screen TV, internet access, WIFI and a huge window with full view of the harbor activities and ocean. The open-concept kitchen with spacious eating area is fully equipped including top-of-the-line appliances. The laundry room has a full size washer/dryer and backdoor with access to the upper deck and private parking. There are several stairs both front and back to access this 2nd floor apartment. Due to our Main Street location, there will be some street noise associated with this apartment. Most people find the convenience of our downtown location and the magnificent view, compensate for any street noise. Due to Rockland city restrictions, this apartment is not available for less than 30 day rentals.
After many years in Denver Colorado, it was time to come home to my Maine roots. In 2000 my husband, son and I came back to Maine.
We live here year-round suffering through the harsh winters so we can enjoy our glorious spring, summer and fall. Our home is minutes from The Wheeler House and I will always be available during your stay.
I hope your plans include a stay at The Wheeler House looking over the beautiful Rockland Harbor.
Jeannine
We stayed here for two months and can't say enough good things about the accommodations, Jeannine (the host), and the neighborhood. We are remote workers, and the wireless and Internet connection worked great for us (including regular video calls). The Wheeler House was impeccably clean, and Jeannine not only provided an initial stock of water and muffins / bagels, but unobtrusively checked in to make sure our stay was going well. We appreciated the dedicated parking spot around the back, with access through the mud room and kitchen. We hardly used our car, and enjoyed walking to restaurants and getting some exercise and enjoying the weather and views of the water. Some particular favorite haunts are The Brass Compass for breakfast / lunch, Rockland Cafe, The Lobster Shack (across the street from The Strand), Claws (also for Lobster), and Hills Seafood (good, and literally next door). We found the street sounds and occasional boisterous customers of Hills Seafood and nearby pubs to be endearing and entertaining - for some white noise, you can run the air conditioners in fan-only mode. We miss all of this, plus the harbor views, the Thursday farmers market, the smell of coffee roasting literally next door, and the people and town of Rockland. We would not hesitate to stay here again, and we think Jeannine is delightful!
The property was clean, furnished and decorated tastefully. Jeannine thought of everything. She had waters in the refrigerator, half and half, butter, cream cheese, muffins and bagels and coffee. Our trip which was to visit friends turned into a vacation. We will definitely return. Thank you Jeannine
Jeannine was very accommodating, giving us tips of what to see and eat. The apartment was neat and clean, yet you feel very comfortable and relaxed. Temps were cool but nice , one morning rain but it didn't last long. Thursday morning there is an outside food market across the street, the vendors were great, unique food, conversation with locals! Had a great time and plan to return!
My husband and I stayed in Rockland while attending the Camden Film Festival, and this apartment was perfect. Watching the sunrise over the harbor each morning through the giant picture window was spectacular, and Jeannine made sure we had every possible comfort. If you love to cook as much as we do, the kitchen has everything you need. The apartment is next door to a great coffee shop and only a couple of blocks away from the Strand Theatre, Hello Hello Books, the Farnsworth museum, and lots of wonderful restaurants. Highly recommended. Thanks for making our stay in Rockland so memorable, Jeannine!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in early September. We loved being just a couple of blocks from the center of town and thought the First Friday ArtWalk event was fabulous. The apartment is delightful, comfortable, and super clean with a fabulous view of the harbor through a large window in the living area that is open to the kitchen. We could hear street traffic and some activity from the hair salon below, but it was not bothersome. As our fine host Jeannine suggested, we used the fan in the a/c unit as white noise and were very comfortable. We used the well appointed kitchen and also enjoyed the coffeehouse next door. Harborside dining at Archer's on the Pier is a quick walk from the apartment along the boardwalk across the street. Favorite activities were kayaking in the local harbors, attending the Windjammer Festival in nearby Camden, and a relaxing afternoon of walking, kayaking, and visiting the Wyeth Art Gallery in Port Clyde.
Thank you for a wonderful 4 days at the beautiful Wheeler House apartment. It was very well equipped with everything we needed and more. We especially enjoyed the comfortable beds and the luxurious linens. The view out the living room window was spectacular and very entertaining. The easy access to the town of Rockland was a real plus. We enjoyed the harbor, the boardwalk, biking, and the many delicious restaurants within easy walking distance.
Jeannine made us feel so welcome as we arrived. She met us and surprised us with an anniversary cake and a bottle of chilled champagne. What a wonderful hostess and what a great stay she provided for us!
