About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Mountain Views on Greenbelt

Casa Artista - This beautiful artist's home is now available for guests.

Because so many folks miss this info in house rules, Casa Artista is not suitable for children under 12 and we cannot make exceptions.

This house is wonderful for grown-ups, but full of fragile artwork, and lots of ways for little kids to hurt themselves by just running around as normal, healthy kids do.

This lovely comment about the house was posted on Facebook by a former neighbor:

"Having lived next door to this little charmer since it was built (although I moved away last year), I know it's a wonderful and peaceful place for visitors and guests of Santa Fe residents to spend a few days or a week. The sunsets are beyond description, and the little breakfast/morning tea setting in the front courtyard is an inviting place to listen to the birds, watch the hummers and experience the sights and smells of the high desert. It's bound to be a people-pleaser for those who want more tranquility than the City Different can offer. And, it's under-priced for all that it is--sweet and cozy."

Stunning but simple Santa Fe style throughout, and everything you need for comfort and cooking, and relaxing. Fully equipped kitchen even has a slow cooker and waffle maker!

As a special treat, we provide the makings of some delicious Santa Fe snacks upon your arrival.

Casa Artista sits on an acre and a half on one of Eldorado's greenbelts, providing quiet communing with Nature and wildlife sitings from a large patio with dining tables and fruit trees. Protected night sky star gazing is a special treat. At this altitude, you are truly up among the stars.

You would think you were away from it all, but only a mile away is the Eldorado village commercial area with a great market, restaurants, wine bar, craft beer tasting room, and varied shopping activities.

And only 15 minutes away is the bustling Santa Fe Plaza area where the property owner has a lovely gallery which provides some of the amazing artwork in Casa Artista.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: 6 . Sorry, but we are unable to make exceptions.

RESTRICTIONS:

No Pets

Children must be 12 years or older

No Smoking Inside or Outside. (Would present a fire danger to the greenbelt area.)

Our home can sleep six. The master suite has a queen bed, flat screen TV, comfy rocking chair, walk-in shower, and circular soaking tub. Guest room one has a queen bed and reading area, and Guest Room 2 has two twin beds and a rocking chair.

We DO NOT have extra sleeping space like pull-out sofas, futons, cots, etc. and do not allow sleeping bags to accommodate extra guests.

The high-ceilinged central living area (kitchen, dining, living room) divides the master suite from the guest wing. The two guest rooms are served by a guest bath with walk-in shower.

All the beds have thick memory foam mattress toppers for ultimate comfort, and every window in the house has a wonderful view.

With 1300 square feet of living space, a large patio in back, and a large, walled courtyard in front (with a covered swing), Casa Artista offers plenty of living space without being too large.

Ideal for a romantic getaway, a girlfriends' weekend, a family vacation with older children, or two couples traveling together, but also perfectly sized for a single vacationer to feel comfortable. Our home is NOT suitable for children under 12.

About Jessica Wesolek

I am a Santa Fe artist and gallery owner who bought this house with my mother and brother in 2010 so my mother could live close-by. This was wonderful until she got homesick for Michigan, and moved back to her home town. We have kept the house as a family guest house and studio/getaway for me, but have now decided to offer its wonders to others as well.

Jessica Wesolek purchased this house in 2010

Why Jessica Wesolek chose Eldorado at Santa Fe

When we shopped for a home for my Mom, we were looking for a perfect little "castle", and that is what Casa Artista looks like as you drive up the road. It is perfectly sited on a rise and has wonderful views in every direction.

My main home is also in Eldorado - just 5 minutes away - and I love this community for its beauty and serenity. Eldorado used to be a huge ranch and when it was sold for development, there were many covenants put in place to keep the low profile, natural rolling, landscape looking unscathed. All architecture is one story, Pueblo or Territorial style, adobe colored, and blends beautifully into the natural surroundings. All power and phone lines are buried so nothing obscures your views, and the protected night sky is even more surreal than the amazing sunsets and cloud formations of the Santa Fe area.

After long days a great place to call home

  • 5 of 5

Our family - my wife and I along with two 13 year old girls and an 18 year old son came to Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta over the weekend and wanted to spend the balance of the week exploring the Santa Fe area. Casa Artista was a wonderful respite after days of exploring Kasha-Katuwe, Bandolier, the high road to Taos, and Meow Wolf and Santa Fe. Every night it was great to come back after a long day and relax as a family and enjoy the comfortable ambience of Casa Artista and the quiet and dark of Eldorado - the stars were amazing at night looking into the center of the galaxy. Jessica checked us in and after post-booking emails from her it was almost like seeing an old friend - we were made to feel comfortable and welcome. The soaking tub in the master bedroom was a welcome experience after long hikes and three teenagers got evening fixes of internet access - which was also useful for us adults answering email and planning our day trips. Thank you, Jessica, for your hospitality!

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

There are four of us female relatives that have been traveling to Santa Fe once a year for over a decade. Casa Artista is now our FAVORITE place to stay. We each had our own very comfortable bed, 2 bathrooms, a charming kitchen and living area (all extremely clean), and the gorgeous sweep of the backyard view. We enjoyed watching the various birds that ventured onto the back patio and had fun at night picking out constellations in the night sky. After running around in town all day, it was wonderful to come "home" in the evening and relax.

Dream Home!

  • 5 of 5

This property has everything you could possibly want in a vacation rental. Just open up the screen door and breath in that aromatic Santa Fe air, or watch the multitude of birds, including hummingbirds! When the sky is just right(no cloud cover) you can see billions of stars, satellites and meteors! One morning we even heard coyotes calling. The area has walking paths and a very nice grocery store. Jessica, the owner, was so wonderful to give suggestions of local places to eat and new adventures to explore! My sister and I could not have asked for a better place to spend our mornings and evening after long days walking the streets of Santa Fe. I look forward to returning to this peaceful setting that is Casa Artista as it met all of our needs and more. Thank You!

Owner's Response: Dear Leesa - It was such a pleasure to meet you and your sister, and especially to see your obvious appreciation for the natural "little miracles" of wildlife, stars, and bird watching that make this area so special. Thank you for taking such good care of the Casa and I sure do hope to see you both again soon. Next time, maybe we can get together for a happy hour or something! jessica

The owner takes a lot of personal interest in making sire the guest are comfortable...and it shows. The area is very peaceful and quiet, yet has a full service grocery store near by along with restaurants and a gym.

Excellent vacation home, peaceful and quiet, with everything needed for an enjoyable stay.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted to get away for the Thanksgiving holiday week with our two teenage children for fun and relaxation. Having recently lost my mom, we took my father with us so that he could enjoy family time with us as well. We wanted a peaceful, quiet place in the Santa Fe area but not in the city. After looking at various options online, when we came across Casa Artista we were sure we had found the perfect place. Once we got there, we were very happy to discover that we were right!

The house was everything we expected it to be and it met all our needs, with three spacious bedrooms, a comfortable living room, a well-equipped kitchen for cooking and baking, and a great table for dining and playing family board games in the evenings. There was even a really nice BBQ grill available, which we enjoyed using one day. The house was clean, well-maintained, and elegantly decorated, with the special touch of Jessica's artwork throughout. The house is in a great location, easy to find and with easy highway access only a few minutes from downtown Santa Fe, but with a secluded, private feeling due to being on a large lot with a greenbelt behind the house. It was super quiet and serene. The night sky was awesome with great star viewing. The grocery store nearby had everything we needed.

Jessica was very friendly and helpful. She met us at the house when we arrived, showed us around and made good suggestions. It was comforting to know that she was close by and that we could call if there was anything we needed (which we didn't since everything was already provided). We also had the opportunity to visit her gallery in Santa Fe and my daughter bought a nice pair of earrings there. Jessica offers her guests a small discount on purchases at her gallery, which was an unexpected bonus.

Activities we enjoyed included: the Georgia O'Keefe Museum in Santa Fe (a must if you're into art like my daughter and I are), the Loretto Chapel (you've got to see the spiral staircase to believe it), hiking and seeing the Anasazi cliff dwellings in Bandelier National Park (about an hour's drive from the house). My kids also really enjoyed doing a horseback trail ride with Broken Saddle Riding Company in nearby Cerrillos. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to see MeowWolf, which Jessica recommended, but it sounds really cool and now we have a reason to go back.

I would definitely recommend Casa Artista as we had a very comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable stay.
