Looking for a peaceful getaway on the water that's still close enough to all Maine has to offer- antique shops, lobster boils, nature trails, sailing excursions? Welcome to our little ME house on Stockton Springs harbor! Wake up to spectacular water-views from the master-bedroom with king-sized memory-foam mattress and full en-suite bathroom. All new furniture! Relax on the side deck overlooking the water or private deck off the master bedroom. Two additional bedrooms with a Queen and Double bed. Need more room? There's also a one-bedroom guesthouse behind the main house that can be rented separately. We're just down the road from the boat launch, the Fort Point Lighthouse and park, Searsport Island Nature Preserve, Sandy Point Beach, antique shops, etc. Walking distance to town general store, library, post office, etc. 10 minutes drive to Searsport, 20 minutes to Belfast, 40 minutes to Bangor or Camden. North entrance to Camden State park (with nature trails galore and amazing summit views of the Bay) is just 20 minutes from our door.
We spend most of our year in Southeast Asia, working on human rights issues. Our work is focused on investigating human rights violations and working with local human rights defenders. We're both from upstate New York, but met in Bangkok and fell in love with Maine. This is house is our only home in the States.
Amy & Matt Smith purchased this house in 2015
After getting a taste of what Maine had to offer on a visit to the States, we started looking for a peaceful spot where we could watch the water, write and read and clear our heads. When we found this little house on the harbor, we knew we were home.
We never get tired of the water view from our windows- from watching ducks on the water to spying eagles nesting, there's always something to see. We love the privacy of our spot- we're tucked away in the cove giving us awesome views without the distraction of neighbors. Despite the remote feel, we're close to everything. Check out our list of things to do and see- all of it just a few minutes from our front door.
This home was just perfect for our two couple getaway. It was just as pictured--beautiful views, cosy and comfortable. It is also an easy drive to Bucksport, Ellsworth and Acadia.
Home was very clean, warm on a few cold days and well provisioned. We hope to stay there again next year. .
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this amazing waterfront home. It truly is private and peaceful, serene and tranquil while being close to many places to explore if desired. This was exactly what we wanted and we recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet retreat. We enjoyed the view from the windows and the many nearby harbors within short driving distance. This is a treasure we would love to come back to and we were grateful for the opportunity to stay here. Kitchen was well stocked; linens and towels provided; grocery store nearby. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
We spent six days at this vacation property. It was a great location to experience the nearby towns of Searsport, Ellsworth, Bucksport, Belfast and Bar Harbor. The tides were amazing, going from a very dry looking bed at low tide to high water at high tide, very different from the tides that we experience in Ocean City in Maryland. We found many things to do from hiking trails at Acadia National Park to eating fresh lobster in many great restaurants. The house was comfortable and well equipped with everything you may need. We would definitely rent this house again for a New England trip.

We loved staying there. Beautiful setting, great view of the cove, house was very comfortable and well laid out. Only complaint was that we were under the impression that we would have access to the water. The description of the property indicated that the path to the water was not easy but it should really have said there is no access to the water unless you bushwack through the undergrowth and there is no real shoreline where you could put in a canoe or kayak easily. And perhaps we should have figured there would be tides but it would have helped to know that half the time the cove would be a mud flat.
The house has a beautiful view and is located in a quiet, relaxing area. The inside of the house is adorable, clean, has great views from the many windows, and is very comfy, including the king size bed in the master. The house has everything you need and is situated within easy driving distance to Acadia National park and many other Maine coastal towns. We had a great time and would love to stay here again someday!
My girlfriend and I arrived to find the photographs on the website for the house come to life. The setting is serene and it is nice to wake up and go to sleep to the tide changes in the cove. We would usually start and end our day at the picnic table in the backyard. Breakfast in the AM and wine and stargazing in the PM.
The site made a perfect hub for our spontaneous trips each day. Turn right at the end of the road, NORTH, off to Stockton Springs and beyond. Turn left, SOUTH, Belfast (not Ireland). Either way you couldn't loose. No matter what we did that day, we always looked forward to getting home with our groceries or treats and cooking them up in the well utensil-ed kitchen or 'smore-it and up relax with a movie.
The word, quiet, is even too loud. It was so peaceful, you could almost hear yourself thinking. The onsite washer and dryer was a nice treat.
This is the kind of place we'll go back to again and really look forward to going. Any issues that may have come up, Amy was quick to respond. If you choose to go here, I hope you have as much fun as we did.
