Overview

About the property

Private Entrance, Attached To A Family Home In Beautiful Hampstead.

Please read all the information I have provided here before you ask for information on travel and amenities etc.

A lovely bright double bedroom with loads of wardrobe space. It has a mini kitchenette, private en-suit bathroom with shower and its own private entrance, door bell and undercover porch.

It is situated in leafy, historic Hampstead, on a quiet residential street 2 minutes walk to the wild open space of the famous Hampstead Heath and the manicured Golders Hill Park, both have lovely cafes/restaurants.

The room is entirely private from the rest of the family house.

My check in time is 2pm and check out time is 11am. I can be flexible with these times if you ask me.

The house is a 5 min walk to the Finchely Road, with a constant steam of buses to Finchely Road Tube Station (the Jubilee line and Metropolitan line) from here it is about a 10 minute ride into the centre of town. The buses also go straight into London's West End, central London. It is a 30 bus ride from my house to Oxford Street. The busses also go to the main line station of Finchely and Frognal which has overground trains that go all over London. My house is 15 - 20 mins walk from Hampstead tube station. This tube station is on the Northern line. It is a 15 min tube ride to Leicester Square. There is a very clear map provided on this site, where you can see all the tube stations. Laminated maps to local shops, cafes, bus stops/tube stations and so forth are provided by me in the room.

The mini kitchenette comprises of a toaster, microwave, fridge, kettle, crockery, cutlery and glasses. The fridge is stocked with the basics when you arrive.

There is free WiFi, cable television with all sport and movie channels, flat screen TV and an iPod dock. There is also an inflatable mattress in the cupboard that can be used for a child, there is a £30 fee for a child.

Clean towels, bed linen and dressing gowns are provided and can be changed if needed (for a fee). The room can be cleaned during your stay, with the sheets and towels changed (£30) and laundry done if needed. (£10 per load of laundry) Washed and dried, not ironed.

The room has plenty of storage space, a full wall of empty cupboards. There is a heated electric towel rail in the shower room and underfloor heating in the bedroom if needed, along with a radiator and blow heater/fan. There is also a de-humidifyer to use after showering.

Shower gel and shampoo are provided. A hair drier is also provided in the cupboard over the bed. There are two folding chairs and a table in the wardrobe. These are lovely to use in the warmer months outside on the covered porch.

About Georgia Slowe

I have lived in this area most of my life. I live here with my partner, dog and my two sons, when they are home from university.

Georgia Slowe purchased this studio in 2001

Why Georgia Slowe chose Camden & Covent Garden

I love my home, it is so close to the wild open space of Hampstead Heath, the most beautiful park land in London and yet only a short tube, bus or cab ride, right into the centre of town. You can feel as if you are in the countryside one moment and the next in the heart of London's west end, with all the theatres and galleries, museums and restaurants, bars and night clubs.

What makes this studio unique

This room is totally private with its own entrance and bathroom and yet you are still connected to a friendly family home. Hampstead is a beautiful and historic part of London dating back over 500 years.

Exactly what I needed and expected

  • 5 of 5

I had completely forgotten to do this review then as I was going through and deleting old email I found this one: "review your recent stay". I feel bad that it took so long because it was such a great place to stay. I was visiting London alone for a few days and this quiet room was exactly what I needed and exactly what Georgia said it would be. A nice studio with a bathroom and kitchenette stocked with snacks and coffee. Georgia also provides guide brochures to local sites and electrical and phone adapters. It has it's own separate entrance so I didn't even see Georgia for the first couple of days. It's a short bus ride to the city center and the bus stop and metro are close. Lot's of nice little restaurants and shops nearby. Try Papa's cafe on the corner for a great inexpensive English breakfast. I decided to stay an extra day but the room was already reserved so Georgia put me up in a spare bedroom in her house! It was almost like being part of the family. Great place! Great people. Highly recommend!

Peaceful and quiet

  • 4 of 5

I was happy to stay at this room for 4 nights. Once I figured out the public transport system with all the connections (quite helpful info provided by the landlady) I felt the room was at a great place for my needs - a peaceful and quiet retreat from the hubbub of the city that is still easily accessible. For those arriving or leaving, I might suggest using taxi for the most comfortable travel. The ease of use of the contactless cards as payment method with daily cap on the public transport has really changed the flow of the transport for the better (I used my VISA card; you can buy an Oyster card if your credit card doesn't have the contactless system).

The room itself stayed comfortable even with the heatwave raging outdoors. The snacks provided by the owner for the welcome came to good use too. The room might not be the best for the people who want to make their own meals: the "kitchen" corner of the room is not big enough for that. For me it was quite enough, though. The bed was very soft - so people who prefer a bit harder might find that uncomfortable. I usually prefer them on the firmer side but slept surprisingly well in this one too. The room has more than enough of cupboard/ closet space!

The nearby restaurants and shops are close enough, and really, one must visit the Hampstead Heath that is very close by. Such a gem unknown to tourists with its stunning, romantic Pergola... and the views!

I would recommend this place for single travellers or couples who want a quiet stay in one of the prettiest housing areas of London (that I've visited).

Hampstead

  • 3 of 5

The room was adequate but seemed much smaller than the photos we viewed when we booked. It was close to the bus service that we used to get into London which was great.

A cozy, quiet apartment

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay in the cozy attached one room apartment. The owner had everything to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed visiting with the owner who was very nice and helpful! This location is a few miles out of the heart of London but has great transportation near by (buy an oyster card for the bus and rail system). The neighborhood was very beautiful and quiet.

A Good Fit for Me and My Dog

  • 4 of 5

I came to London to pick up a dog. This was the perfect location for me to become acquainted with the dog. It was within an easy walking distance to the park and to amenities such as the tube station and pubs and restaurants for meals. The room was compact and had everything I needed. I felt very welcome. I was pleased with my stay.

Location

Car: not necessary

Hampstead Village is over 500 years old with many beautiful attractions. Keats House, Fenton House, Burgh House, Freud Museum - to name but a few of the sights to see. The famous Hampstead Heath is a two minute walk from my house and is the loveliest park-land in London. A walk across the Heath and you come to Kenwood House with its art gallery and Restaurant - with many gastro pubs along the way. I provide maps with routes to Hampstead Village and the local stations and bus stops and shops.
