We love old town Folsom! This picture was our 30th anniversary photo, taken at a favorite spot on the American River, just steps from our home and the cottage. As a working couple, we know how hard it is to fit in quality time...living in this area gives us the opportunity to be active with our family/dogs, get out to dinner, shop and enjoy all of the events the Historic District has to offer. All without ever getting in our car. Maureen has spent over 30 years working in the field of property management. Remodeling this cottage and making it comfortable for our guests came naturally!
We look forward to meeting each of you and hope you feel as at home!
Maureen Picarella purchased this cottage in 2011
Yes, you can stay in a hotel nearby...but why, when you can spend time in this comfortable, modern cottage? As close as you can get to the action in old town Folsom, yet so peaceful and quiet when you're ready to relax.
Quiet, private location, yet a few minutes walk away from everything the Historic District has to offer. Owners on site, very responsive to questions or concerns that may come up.
We stayed at the Sutter Cottage over the 14th to 17th October and were very impressed at the cleanliness of the accommodation, its layout and the kitchen equipment.
The cottage has an external deck with gas barbeque, a four person table with awning and access to the owner’s pool; California experienced a severe rain storm during our visit so we were unable to use the outside area due to the torrential rain.
The kitchen is very well equipped with a wide range of non-stick pots and pans that are in very good condition with a large gas oven, hob, dishwasher, clothes washer and drier.
I think that this property is a great example of how to run a rental property as the cleanliness is second to none and I would award it a gold standard; so many thanks to the owners and their maintenance staff.
The entertainment has a DVD player, digital TV, internet and WiFi access which was great for keeping in touch with our UK based family and friends.
The shower room is fantastic as it is a walk in shower and not a shower over a bath which is a problem for me as I have some mobility issues.
The owners live on the same property so if there are any issues they are rapidly resolved.
The property is within walking distance of the historic Folsom area which is worth a visit.
Overall I think this is an exceptionally well maintained well run property and a credit to the owners.
From the moment we booked to the time we left everything went smoothly. Accessing the property was problem free, we were welcomed and then left undisturbed though the owners are only yards away in the adjoining building. For once, the kitchen was actually well equipped and scrupulously clean... everything worked!
The bathroom was a squeaky clean joy to use, the bed comfortable with quality cotton bedding.
Even Jinx the cat made us feel at home with her nightly patrol visits.
It rained for most of our stay so we weren't able to enjoy our wine under the stars on the deck.. but we did like listening to the waterfall!
We aren't dog owners and had concerns that dog friendly rentals inevitably smell of their canine occupants, not this place!
Thank you, Maureen, you have created a truly special home from home.
As a VRBO owner, we are very attuned to what makes a rental property feel like home, and this wonderful place did exactly that! So well appointed and comfortable. Even bowls for our sweet dog. The owners were delightful, communicative and welcoming. The kitchen well stocked and the bed divine. Great linens, including soft towels. I had to work while I was there, and the place offered lightening fast wifi. And it is only a 5 minute walk to the charming town of Folsom and to great trails along the Lake Natoma. We had an absolutely delightful time and if ever back in the area, we will most definitely stay here again! Thank you Maureen for everything!!!
This was the perfect place to stay. The cottage felt very warm and inviting; very clean, new, and well appointed. A lot of thought went into making sure all the comforts of home were available. Maureen was very prompt in getting back to my e-mails and texts and Rita was very helpful when we arrived. We discovered the wonderful town of Folsom and the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, both of which are within easy walking distance. We had dinner at Hop Sings Palace, lunch at Chicago Fire pizza, and breakfast at Karen's Bakery - life couldn't be better! We were able to warm leftovers at the cottage. We hope to come back!
This was the perfect spot for my daughter and her young family visiting from Australia. They loved it! So close to everything, comfortable, beautifully renovated. The bedroom closet was so big the portable crib fit inside - the baby slept there and the two-year old on the sofa that converts into a bed in the living room. Maureen was very friendly and accommodating. The deck just outside the cottage door was perfect for chatting with a beer or glass of wine after the kids had gone to bed. Would love to come back.
This was our second time staying at Sutter Cottage and it was fantastic again. Comfortable, quiet, close to everything and the host is superb. The cottage is steps away from biking and walking trails and great restaurants. Great vacation for us and our two Labs, Max and Duke.
Centrally located to Sutter street shopping, restaurants and activities. Walk to the American River Recreation trail for walking, or biking. Folsom Lake is a short 10 minute drive away.
Walk to Folsom's Light Rail station...convenient access to Folsom Premium Outlets and downtown Sacramento from this stop.
Ski some of Lake Tahoe's premier resorts, only a 1 - 1/2 hour drive away from Folsom. Summertime activities are endless, within the Folsom Lake recreation area, as well as the Sierra Nevada foothills.
This location has it all!!!
