About Cara

We enjoy an active lifestyle with our twin daughters and son, and love the variety of outdoor opportunities all within close proximity of our homes. We fell in love with Glacier National Park and the Flathead Valley on our one year anniversary, and decided to make the Flathead Valley our place to one day raise our children. Whether hiking in Glacier National Park or rafting the Flathead River there is no shortage of fun activities. We are pleased to be able to share our home with guests looking to explore the outdoors, or who are just coming for some rest and relaxation.

Cara purchased this house in 2015

Why Cara chose Hungry Horse

We love the small town atmosphere of Hungry Horse, and being close to Glacier National Park. This home is the perfect location because we can explore during the day, and come home after a short drive and relax and unwind. We have had deer, black bears, and rabbits retreat to our yard too!

What makes this house unique

Close to all the adventurous activities we enjoy doing as a family, and only 10 minutes to Glacier National Park!

Quiet, clean retreat

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The unit is conveniently located near the West entrance of GNP (about 10 miles) and to shopping and restaurants. Huckleberry patch is walking distance and has the best pies and milkshakes. The unit is very clean, spacious and the kitchen is stocked with pots and pans and silverware. Having only one bathroom was a little tricky with 4 people but manageable. I especially loved the washer/dryer.

This was the perfect place to stay for a long weekend while we explored Glacier National Park. The west entrance is only about 20 minutes away. The house was super clean and comfortable. Thank you to Cara for the wonderful stay!

Clean, no-clutter, comfy cabin

  • 5 of 5

- Group size: 4 adults, two young kids

- plenty of space

- very comfortable beds

- comfy leather sofa in living room and plenty of space for kids to play

- for kids: fun basket of toys, dining booster with tray, pack n play

- lots of cooking supplies available, only thing we missed was a sauté paddle or spoon but managed with what was there

My favorite thing about our stay was the hospitality. I really felt like Cara was concerned that we were comfortable, as she checked in with me and was overall very pleasant to work with.

Our only bummer of the trip was that Going-to-the-Sun road was closed on the west side of the park due to fires, as well as a big chunk of Camas Road. This limited our recreational options and we had to drive two hours around the park. We were told GTTS road can also take that long to get through so it may not have made much difference. The east side of the park has more glacier views and is absolutely stunning, but there don't seem to be as many places to stay. The west side of the park is lush with gorgeous pine trees and felt a little like home (albeit more mountainous) for this East Texas native.

Great home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved your home in Hungry Horse! The beds were especially comfortable and it was perfect for our family! We loved seeing the bunnies in the yard eating apples that had fallen from the tree. Your home was convenient to West Glacier, Kalispell, Whitefish & Columbia Falls. Great time at this home, and the pictures look exactly like the actual home.

Worked well!

  • 5 of 5

We were 4 adults and the house worked well for us and was convenient to the park. The sink, vanity and mirror in one of the queen bedrooms was a good supplement to the single bathroom. House was very clean and neat with well-equipped kitchen. We enjoyed sitting out in the chairs in the side yard one evening and hearing the birds. Well-stocked with regard to soaps and towels. Wonderful to be able to do laundry before moving on. Narrow width of the hallway to the bedrooms is the only thing of negative to note. For those planning to stay here in the future, make sure to try out the local huckleberry pies. Erna's pie at Alpine Grill in Hungry Horse was especially good, rivaled only by the pie at Park Cafe in St. Mary (and we tried them all!).
