I, along with 5 friends stayed at this property and had an awesome time. The house was very spacious. We enjoyed the fire pit and pool table. Just a short drive from an awesome state park. We enjoyed some great food in Cashiers NC.
We had a great time with our family. House was very functional for our four families.
Beautiful mountain getaway! Great for kids!
Gigi and her friend, Finula were amazing hosts. They were quick to respond to our needs upon arrival. The home was well outfitted with comfy beds, an ample kitchen, tons of board games and the quiet privacy you hope for in the mountains. A quick drive to Lake Toxaway for warm days on the lake was our favorite. Many hikes to swim beneath gorgeous waterfalls all within a 20 minute drive. Nearby Pisgah National Park allows for picnics by the river after tubing and more. We even took advantage of the community center frisbee golf course. Highly recommend!
Just beautiful! Very quiet and precious home!
Beautiful piece of property! House is a perfect setup... we loved that the adults could socialize upstairs and the kids could hang out downstairs. Beautiful view!
Calm and Serene
We had a good time at the house. The kids loved the basement. Enough room for two families. Great views of the mountains!
Some Good, some not so good
My family and I stayed here in August 2018. We found the home's furnishings comfortable. The large wood farm table was nice for family reunion dinners. The wide view from the Pella doors in the dining/living area is constantly changing with the light during the day.
The house is described in the listing as '3000 square foot cottage'. That doesn't seem to be the case for heated square footage of this mid 1970's home. The home's interior feels smaller than that and tax records indicate that it is actually 2386 hsf, 1176 on each floor, upper and basement level.
The biggest disappointment, and primary reason for renting this property, the canoe..It was at the house and not at the community lake during our visit. It appears that it has been there for a while. Past reviewers spoke of it being on the racks at the small lake, but we checked. Those were other neighbors' locked watercraft.
There were a number of things that were not working in the house or just not available for use.
The wood outdoor furniture is moldy and always thoroughly wet. There were no furniture cushions as shown in the pictures.
The metal fire pit on the deck has a hole in it and seems a possible fire hazard if used.
The downstairs DVD player was not working.
The remotes did not have batteries in them.
The large wine cooler in the kitchen was not working.
There was a welcoming book in the kitchen that listed some basic instructions for Bosch kitchen appliances, it referenced other instructions for electronics in the house, but we couldn't find that.
Smaller problems included;lack of fitted sheets on 3 beds and toiletries/paper in bathroom.
There are many places to rent a house right on the water in this area, and perhaps that's what I would do the next time. The area's Lake Toxaway is a private lake and we were unable to use the community's lake, so we traveled all the way down to Lake Jocassee to spend time on the water. That was beautiful and memorable.
Bronwyn, we're glad you enjoyed certain aspects of this cabin, but are sorry to hear your stay didn't meet your expectations. The homeowner has a full time local property manager to assist guests with any issues. We wish you had reached out to them during your stay so they could have assisted you, as this review is the first time we are hearing of these issues. We understand the homeowner offered assistance to you as well, but you were unable to communicate with them. In regards to the wood patio furniture, we can confirm it is not moldy and it is pressure cleaned every season and sealed. They take great pride in providing the optimal guest experience, and they have never received feedback like this previously. We are confident this home will continue to host satisfied guests, just like they have consistently over the years. Best, the Evolve Team
