**Winter Visitors: Warm yourselves near our cozy wood-burning stove (a rarity as wood-burning stoves/fireplaces are no longer allowed in homes in Boulder.) Play a game of Sequence or Chess or watch a movie with the glow of the fireplace nearby. And enjoy our hot tub on the second story deck off the master bedroom suite. It has views of the foothills. Note: only open in the winter months.**
Our home is a two-story European-inspired stucco house. There is a beautiful flower garden in the front and in the back is a beautiful, spacious private backyard with lots of shade from old big trees. We had our wedding here! There are French doors opening from the living room to a large patio where we enjoy most of meals in the summertime. Inside, the front door opens to a foyer. There is a relatively open floor plan with a newly-renovated kitchen opening to our living room. There is a dining room with huge windows facing the backyard. The rest of the first floor includes two bedrooms, a full-size bathroom, and an office. Just outside the bedrooms is a spiral staircase that goes up to a loft/playroom. There is a small family room off the kitchen that doubles as a rec-room, as it has weights and a workout bench in a small area at the rear of the room. This room has a queen size inflatable bed available. That room opens onto a deck outside where we have a grill and some outdoor furniture. The upstairs of the house is the master bedroom with a queen-size bed. There is a large bathroom with a door that opens to a private deck. We have wireless high-speed internet access. We have two big flatscreen TV’s and a large DVD movie library.
Where to begin! There are many great pluses to this area. My favorite is the fact that I can walk out my door and be on the Wonderland Lake trail in minutes. Wonderland Lake is a wildlife sanctuary on a Lake nestled up against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. There is a trail that winds around the lake and connects to an elaborate trail system so there are endless hiking options.
My second favorite feature is that we have a charming food market about a fifth of a mile away. You can be missing an ingredient in the middle of cooking, and pop over to Lucky’s and be back in minutes. Next to Lucky’s you will also find a cute little coffee shop with arguably the best coffee in Boulder. You’ll find a shipping store, a drycleaners, a diner, a pizza shop, an Italian restaurant and a Chinese restaurant. Also a liquor store for that last-minute bottle of wine.
For a great breakfast you have the option of walking up to Lucky's Cafe or Julia's Kitchen (only a 5 minute walk). Lucky's Cafe has all the standard breakfast selections (and more) while Julia's Kitchen specializes in all organic food.
Our proximity to the downtown Pearl Street area is great – we are 1.5 miles down the road. There is a bus you can hop on, you can bike, or even walk if you are ambitious. There are so many great restaurants and coffee shops in Boulder. You will be surprised at the selection if you haven’t been here before. Also worth noting, is that our neighborhood is such an interesting collection of homes. No two homes are alike. If you appreciate architecture, you will love walking through our neighborhood and seeing other homes and gardens.
We rented the house to get away from the Texas heat for a month, and to show our kids the mountains. The house was beautiful, with a big backyard and a wonderful playroom for kids that was stocked with great toys. The neighborhood was great as well, with an upscale organic market within walking distance. There was also a ton of fun activities for our kids within walking distance or a short drive away. We even got to see deer walking through the neighborhood almost every evening. The owners were very helpful and responsive.
What a great place to stay! Close drive to fun pearl street, walk to neighborhood park, coffee shop and market. We have two kids and the owners made sure we had age appropriate toys and a pack n play. It made our trip so enjoyable and easy.
We hope to come back!
Our group included a small child and the beautiful yard with a swing was a huge plus. Overall the house totally exceeded our expectations!! We had a fabulous time just sitting in the back yard and walking around the neighborhood.
Everything was so nice. The house was perfect for our young daughter with the large back yard and swing. The owner was very responsive and a pleasure to rent from. We highly recommend!
