Secluded Mountainside Cabin On 24 Acres With Incredible Views And Sunsets

Bedrooms Studio
Space 576 sq ft
Property type cabin

About the property

Spacious off-the-grid rustic cabin with mountain views and amazing sunsets!!

WINTER USE: WILL NEED TO CONTACT OWNER REGARDING ACCESSIBILITY AND CONDITIONS FOR USE. Want to escape up a mountain and enjoy quiet while living off-the-grid? This 11 year old, well-built, fully insulated single room cabin with cathedral ceilings is situated on the side of a mountain away from the hustle and bustle of life. Come enjoy 24 acres of land with amazing 180 degree westerly views of the Vermont's Green Mountains and local farms. Once your vehicle takes you 0.6 miles up the mountain, you can settle in and call this beautiful place home. If you have a SUV or 4WD vehicle available for use, we recommend you use this to make it easier for you to access the cabin. We use both 2WD cars and 4WD SUV's but depending on the road conditions, the 4WD is more surefooted climbing up the road. The cabin has a solar panel that generates enough power for you to use outlets, light fixtures, and a shower. An indoor propane stove and a gas grill on the front porch provides you with enough energy to cook meals. Furniture on the premises includes a sofa and love seat, 2 queen beds, a kitchen table with 4 chairs, folding lawn chairs and a comfortable outdoor sofa on the front farmer's porch. Even enjoy taking an "off-the-grid" warm shower!! A classic, comfortable outhouse complete with a window is only steps away from the cabin. An Indoor wood stove keeps the cabin nice and toasty warm on cool nights or gather around the outdoor fireplace to enjoy toasting marshmallows and and telling stories while viewing the most incredible sunsets. During the day, you can hike up the rest of the mountain and explore other trails or stay on the property and wander around its own trail system. In the fall, this property is known for incredible foliage views. No hunting is permitted on the property. Rent this wonderful cabin by the day, weekend, or week. Improvements for the season to include adding two new solar panels along with more batteries for additional energy, a new kitchen table with chairs, and a fresh coat of paint for the floors.

During the winter months, the cabin is only accessible by snow mobile or by hiking up to the cabin. Hunt Mountain Rd. is not a town maintained road during the winter so it can get pretty snowy and icy. We've been able to provide adequate solar energy for the cabin by clearing off the solar panels. If anyone has interest in spending time at the cabin during the winter months, please call or email owner to discuss details and arrange for a winter booking, weather permitting. Guests will need to carry in all their own food, drinking water, flashlights for night arrivals but we do provide a utility sled to help to transport items. We also are happy to use our snowmobile to transport belongings to the cabin and even passengers if they'd like to opt out of hiking up. Hunt Mountain Rd.( Corridor 10) is right at the doorstep of the cabin so if you own a snowmobile you can enjoy endless miles of trails for winter fun. Call and book your private get-away and experience living off-the-grid in this beautiful place that so many people are talking about!!

Our newest vacation destination property is available through VRBO: "The loft at river's edge" is our Connecticut River waterfront loft complete with all the comforts of home on a stunning, secluded 6 1/2 acre riverfront property. About Sue

My husband and I raised two children in Cambridge, MA and later relocated to the metrowest area of Massachusetts and eventually to the Blackstone Valley in Worcester County. We wanted to fulfill our dream of living in the mountain region of NH so once our kids were grown up and settled into their own lives, we headed north to enjoy living our own adventure. After living in the beautiful Pike region and then Bath, NH, we settled in Monroe, NH on the Connecticut River to be close to our mountain cabin and enjoy all the beauty of this region has to offer.

Sue purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Sue chose Monroe

We are nature enthusiasts who dreamed of owning a cabin on a mountain in NH for as long as we can remember! One requirement: stunning views of mountains!! We fell in love with this property last year and are excited to share the experience with others. We've always enjoyed camping and living in the great outdoors so this more than fit the bill. We also loved the idea of owning something up on a mountain that was "off-the-grid" and not dependent on costly utilities. This place has become a wonderful "escape" place for us and we look forward to having others enjoy our mountain cabin as well!!

What makes this cabin unique

What we enjoy most are the stunning views and sunsets!! Second to this would be the amount of acreage because 24 acres gives you that feeling being secluded away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You can wander around the property and feel completely alone. The well-insulated cabin is also very cozy and warm, especially in the winter when you've been cranking up the wood burning stove. It's so incredible to hike up the mountain to the cabin in the winter, heat up the stove, and enjoy watching the snow fall from the many windows. This property was unique and we wanted to own a piece of the north country!!

We had summer weather for our late September stay, our second time here. The quiet, seclusion and fantastic views are unmatched. Watching the stars and listening to the owls at night was a perfect way to end the day. We will be back, many times.

Owner's Response: Neal, we're so happy you came back to enjoy this special cabin with its incredible views again! And, you are welcome to return again and again!! You treated the property as though it were your own which we as hosts appreciate. Maybe next time you'll see bears or moose which other guests have enjoyed seeing in the front yard. Have a great year and we look forward to your return. Sue and Jeff

Off the grid cozy

  • 5 of 5

Two simple words, beautiful and cozy. A perfect weekend getaway from the city. We hiked up the mountain just as the sun went down in the snow which was quite the experience but when we got to the cabin we were both beyond happy and excited.

Quiet retreat - goals and life scheming and dreaming

  • 5 of 5

It was just what we were looking for.. Quiet..... The hike in with backpacks and loaded sleds "up hill" in the dark was no joke.. To the owners credit they did offer numerous times to give us a ride up on snowmobiles.. Once we hiked in they had the wood stove going and an electric candle on.. Very cool.. The cabin is well equipped with everything we needed. The fresh snow made for awesome sledding for two adult kids, The cabin heated up very well in the negative 15 degree weather.. no issues. We talked and planned our 2018 in peace. Owners checked in on us, but weren't overly in our face. Only down fall was we had perfect cell service which was a distraction.. first world problems is guess... We would stay here again in a heart beat..

Excellent getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We always seek a quiet place for NYE and this beautiful cabin fit the bill. Sue was wonderful and accommodating. We enjoyed the hike up to the cabin since the road was closed for the winter. It sure was cold, but the fully insulated cabin with a wood stove was cozy warm. I highly suggest checking this place out for the cold weather loving enthusiasts during the winter, and everyone else in the summer. We will definitely be back! Thank you for having us!

Owner's Response: Staying at our cozy, warm cabin in the winter is certainly a wonderful experience. The views are just incredible and so different from the summer and fall views as you can see so many snow-capped mountains for a great distance. This year, we have snowmobiles to make it easier if our guests want a ride to the cabin, but so far, everyone has chosen to hike 6/10 mile up Hunt Mountain Rd to the cabin. Come prepared for cold winter weather and you'll have a blast. Bring along your snowshoes, cross-country skiis, sleds, snowmobiles, and anything else to make your stay even more fun. We especially appreciate guests like Courtney and her husband who take such good care of our special cabin, too. We look forward to their return in warmer weather. Sue

Owner's Response: This is the beauty of the cabin on it's 24 acres - it's completely secluded and quiet! We're so happy to share this lovely place with so many people. Most tell us the pictures don't do it justice - especially of how spectacular the view is of Vermont's Green Mountains. We invite all who are seeking peace and quiet to come stay at this wonderful cabin on the mountain!!

Owner's Response: So happy you loved the view! It's an incredible view and it's so fun to sit and watch the sunsets, too. We hope you were able to watch the mist rising up over the Connecticut River nearby. This is a very relaxing and incredibly quiet place to stay. We think it's a perfect getaway place, too. Thanks for visiting and come back again sometime. Sue

This lovely cabin is located between the towns of Littleton and Woodsville, NH, close to the Connecticut River, on the Vermont border. Enjoy the charming town of Littleton with it's small, quaint shoppes on the main street, numerous restaurants, movie theater, car dealer, furniture shops, and convenient stores such as Rite Aid, Walmart and chain restaurants such as McDonald's, Burger King, 99 Restaurant, Applebees, TJ Maxx, etc. Littleton even boasts it has a Home Depot and Lowe's right next door!! Woodsville has it's share of some large chain stores (Walmart, Ocean State Job Lot, Shaw's, Cumberland Farms) and many small specialty shops and restaurants. Visit Slick's in nearby Bath where you'll enjoy the most incredible home made ice cream! Also in Bath, enjoy a swim in the big Eddy, a popular swimming spot along the Wild Ammonoosuc River, beneath the Swiftwater Covered Bridge. In Vermont, visit Ben and Jerry's and Stow's Von Trapp Family Lodge. Plenty to do in an incredible location!!
