Want to escape up a mountain and enjoy quiet while living off-the-grid? This 11 year old, well-built, fully insulated single room cabin with cathedral ceilings is situated on the side of a mountain away from the hustle and bustle of life. Come enjoy 24 acres of land with amazing 180 degree westerly views of the Vermont mountains and farms. Once your SUV or 4WD vehicle takes you 0.6 miles up the mountain, you can settle in and call this beautiful place home. The cabin has a solar panel that generates enough power for you to use outlets, light fixtures, and a shower. An indoor propane stove and a gas grill on the front porch provide you with enough energy to cook meals. Furniture on the premises include a sofa and love seat, queen and full-sized bed, kitchen table and chairs, and folding chairs on the front porch. Even enjoy taking an "off-the-grid" warm shower!! A nifty outhouse complete with ventilation system and a window is only steps away from the cabin. An Indoor wood stove keeps the cabin nice and toasty warm on cool nights or gather around the outdoor fireplace to enjoy toasting marshmallows and and telling stories while viewing the most incredible sunsets. During the day, you can hike up the rest of the mountain and explore other trails or stay on the property and wander around its own trail system. In the fall, this property is known for incredible foliage views. No hunting is permitted on the property. Rent this wonderful cabin by the day, weekend, or week. Rates: $79/night Sunday through Thursday and $89/night Friday and Saturday nights. Improvements for the 2016 season to include new batteries for solar power, two queen beds, a gravel driveway, and added solar panels. During the winter months, the cabin is only accessible by snow mobile, cross-country skis or by hiking up to the cabin. Hunt Mountain Rd. is not a town maintained road during the winter!!! Solar energy is not dependable due to snow covering the panel as well as the numerous cloudy days during the winter so you'll mostly need to rely on batteries, candles, firewood and propane gas. A generator will be available to recharge the solar batteries and operate small appliances if needed. If anyone has interest in spending time at the cabin during the winter months, please call or email owner to discuss details and arrange for a winter booking, weather permitting. Guests will need to carry in all their own food and water. Hunt Mountain Rd.( Corridor 10) is right at the doorstep of the cabin so if you own a snowmobile you can enjoy endless miles of trails for winter fun. My husband and I raised two children in Cambridge, MA and later relocated to the metrowest area of Mass. and eventually to the Blackstone Valley in Worcester County. We wanted to fulfill our dream of living in the mountain region of NH so once our kids were grown up and settled into their own lives, we headed north to enjoy living our own adventure. After living in the beautiful Pike region and then Bath, NH, we settled in Monroe, NH on the Connecticut River to be close to our mountain cabin and enjoy all the beauty of this region has to offer.

We are nature enthusiasts who dreamed of owning a cabin on a mountain in NH for as long as we can remember! One requirement: stunning views of mountains!! We fell in love with this property last year and are excited to share the experience with others. We've always enjoyed camping and living in the great outdoors so this more than fit the bill. We also loved the idea of owning something up on a mountain that was "off-the-grid" and not dependent on costly utilities. This place has become a wonderful "escape" place for us and we look forward to having others enjoy our mountain cabin as well!!
What we enjoy most are the stunning views and sunsets!! Second to this would be the amount of acreage because 24 acres gives you that feeling of having space from the hustle and bustle of the world. You can wander around the property and feel completely alone. The well-insulated cabin is also very cozy and warm, especially in the winter when you've been cranking up the wood burning stove. It's so incredible to hike up the mountain to the cabin in the winter, heat up the stove, and enjoy watching the snow fall from the many windows. This property was unique and we wanted to own a piece of the north country!!

Simply Incredible! Woke up to see black bear off the front porch. Beautiful views. Minimalistic cabin but with all the amenities you'll need. More there than we expected, plates, bowls, cups etc. tea and coffee kettles there. And lots of firewood. We brought our own everything just in case but there is plenty there. Very steep road and driveway SUV a must.
This house is just as it looks in the profile and then some. Quiet, secluded, and with access to hiking and the outdoors. I swear I even saw the faint shimmer of aurora to the north one night. Overall a great way to spend a few days.
this cabin is amazing. off the grid living, the owners provide almost anything you might need to make your stay easy and comfortable. this was our second visit and we will definitely be back. very peaceful and quiet, a place you go to be alone with nature and unwind. the owner sue is very helpful and concerned with making your stay great.
One of the best Homeaway lodgings we have stayed at. As seasoned travelers and campers, Sue's cottage offered just the right amount of "roughing it." The fact that it has an outhouse, you have to heat up pots of water for the shower and it is solar powered added to the feeling of adventure. The views are spectacular and even though we live in Vermont, it felt like we were thousands of miles away. Other attractions and amenities are a short drive away, i.e. dining and shopping in Littleton & St. Johnsbury.
Sue and her family are lovely and accommodating hosts. We are already planning a stay in the near future.

This lovely cabin is located between the towns of Littleton and Woodsville, NH, close to the Connecticut River, on the Vermont border. Enjoy the charming town of Littleton with it's small, quaint shoppes on the main street, numerous restaurants, movie theater, car dealer, furniture shops, and convenient stores such as Rite Aid, Walmart and chain restaurants such as McDonald's, Burger King, 99 Restaurant, Applebees, TJ Maxx, etc. Littleton even boasts it has a Home Depot and Lowe's right next door!! Woodsville has it's share of some large chain stores (Walmart, Ocean State Job Lot, Shaw's, Cumberland Farms) and many small specialty shops and restaurants. Visit Slick's in nearby Bath where you'll enjoy the most incredible home made ice cream! Also in Bath, enjoy a swim in the big Eddy, a popular swimming spot along the Wild Ammonoosuc River, beneath the Swiftwater Covered Bridge. In Vermont, visit Ben and Jerry's and Stow's Von Trapp Family Lodge. Plenty to do in an incredible location!!
