Liz and Chris Kirkham hail from England and moved to Canada in 2013. Liz has many relatives in Canada as her mother was Canadian and her father's family all moved over here in the 1950's. Liz used to be the Managing Director of a Homecare Company in England and Chris still works full time as Quality Director for the popular fashion house, Aritzia. They always wanted to set up a bed and breakfast and the opportunity presented itself when they were able to purchase this beautiful house. You will be guaranteed a warm welcome and as they are both very keen cooks, you can be sure of a tasty breakfast.
Liz Kirkham purchased this hotel in 2014
We consider ourselves very fortunate to have bought this lovely house. When we first moved to Canada we rented a heritage house in the Queens Park area and set about looking for a house that we really loved. We looked and looked but nothing was quite right. It took us over a year to find this house and we were lucky enough to snap it up even before its first open house. The house was lifted, moved and extended by the previous owners so it still maintains its heritage feel whils being a wonderful modern home.
The tasteful restoration meant that it was love at first sight for both Chris and Liz. The details of light fixtures and door knobs, to name but two, are all in period so the parlour and dining room are a delight. Chris and Liz feel very much like custodians of a piece of history that should be preserved.
Absolutely fantastic from arrival to departure. Everything exactly as shown on website only better. Breakfast wonderfully delicious.
I had the pleasure of staying in an elegant and very cozy suite. Liz has done an excellent job at making sure all amenities are provided. I was served an excellent breakfast each morning. I will be sure to stay here again when I am next in town. Thank you Liz, I felt welcomed. Liz provides a home away from home.
