Wow! Terrific Lodging

  • 5 of 5

While the neighborhood is just OK, the house and especially interior is really special. This is as nice as any home rental I've stayed. The pictures look great but still don't do justice to the actual accomodations.

The property is beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience. The owner was very easy to communicate with and the property is beautiful. We ended up driving through some rough looking neighborhoods to get there but the block with this property had been redone and we felt very safe. I understand from my son who lives in New Orleans that there is a lot of renovations with no particular pattern so the neighborhoods all mix together. The home was very comfortable and all the directions were very clear. It's easy Uber ride to French Quarter and City Park (never more than $15, which appears to be less than parking in those locations). The home is a remodeled cottage with high ceilings, big windows, beautiful decor and a definite New Orleans feel. Great way to visit New Orleans!

Clean, beautifully decorated, great location.

  • 5 of 5

The house was just as described, clean with great interior design. Ninh was easy to work with and offered quick responses. The location is good with a couple of great local pubs nearby and a short drive to even more attractions. When renting a house you have to expect a minor issue or two, like a leaky toilet, which was addressed immediately. The construction noise at 8:00am was also something one has to expect in a neighborhood. Other than that, what a great house, great host and it even included wine/ beer upon our arrival! I definitely recommend this house to anyone looking.

Expectations Exceeded!

  • 5 of 5

Came to New Orleans for a long weekend with 4 friends. I did a lot of looking at VRBO's prior to booking so I felt comfortable with our choice, but this place was even better than I imagined. First Ninh was very easy to work with. He gave us all the info we needed before our arrival, and he responded immediately to VRBO and text messages before and during the trip. That was greatly appreciated. Anything else we needed to know was in his info binder he provided at the house.

There is parking right out front, and we never had any issues. It's also very easy to get an Uber, and there is a streetcar line running down Canal Street, straight to the French Quarter, about 4 blocks away ($1.25 per ride).

Parkway Bakery and Tavern, and Bayou Bar are close. Both are just a few minutes walk and are great places to eat, drink, and hang out. There's a small food store and gas station very close as well. We hit up those places each day we were in town. A little further away, but still easy walking are a bunch of additional bars and restaurants (found several good brunch spots). I had "walked" these neighborhoods on Google Earth prior to booking but was still pleasantly surprised to see the options we had nearby.

The house is very nice inside and my group was extremely impressed with the interior design. There is one main TV in the living room and an additional TV in the master bedroom. We didn't watch much TV outside of the NCAA tournament but did notice he has cable. The second bedroom has a nice bed. There is a closet with all the bedding you could ever need and 3 air mattresses, in addition to the 2 comfortable futons in the living room. No complaints from anyone about sleeping arrangements. There are also 2 full sized bathrooms which was perfect for our group. There was a really nice deck out back that we never got around to using, but would be an excellent place to hang out.

The house has washer, dryer, and dishwasher as well. All the other things you would want while staying somewhere were provided.

The alarm system was a little tricky at first, which prompted Ninh to text us to make sure everything was OK. But other than that, there were no problems at all. I really enjoyed staying here and would stay again if I ever return to New Orleans.

Beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying at this property. The house is modern, is decorated beautifully, with great taste, and is equipped with everything one might need. The kitchen, especially, is fully stocked, so you don't need to worry about buying spices, oil or condiments. We really appreciated the nice little touches, such as the complimentary coffee and bottle of wine. Ninh is very helpful and will answer any questions or concerns very fast.

The place is peaceful, quiet and within walking distance to streetcar stops and to a couple of grocery stores. We had a great time and we recommend this house!

Location

Car: recommended

Bayou st. John is a wonderful neighborhood adjacent to the bayou, in the heart of the city. You will be less than a 10 minute drive by car to the french quarter, frenchmen street, the marigny, the superdome, central business district and warehouse district, and a 15 minute walk to the fairgrounds and jazz fest, city park/voodoo fest, ostrich race, voodoo festival, seafood festival, boudin festival, new orleans museum of art, st. Louis cemetery #3, and 1 block to the endymion parade route.

For the active traveler, the bayou and city park are perfect locations to kayak, paddle board, run, and bike.

Local developers are going to renovate the beautiful, former school building, and convert them into high end apartments. They are starting some construction (August 2017); they will work during the normal 8-4 schedule and aren't suppose to work on weekends.
