Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Beaver Island - Mr. Moon's Cottage

2 Story, 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 7, 2.5 Baths.

Mr. Moon's Cottage has everything one could want or need to enjoy a vacation on Beaver Island. The home is located on the north end of the island. It is between the town and the north beach, which are both only a short walk away. It is a bright and comfortable two story home that easily sleeps 7 people.

The main floor has two bedrooms, each with sky lights, ceiling fans, and a TV/DVD player. The master bedroom has a queen and twin, as well as a sliding glass door leading to a private deck. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a twin on top and a full on the bottom. There is a full bathroom, and a half bath which has a washer and dryer.

The kitchen is fully equipped including a new dish washer and microwave. It is open to the living room and the large front deck so the cook can always be a part of the fun, wherever it is happening. Take the party downstairs into the large living space that looks out to the north side. There is a big comfy sofa for watching movies on the TV/DVD/Xbox. Enjoy playing your games/puzzles on the large table. There is also a bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom. The floors downstairs are tile and painted concrete for easy clean up of sand that gets tracked in. Walk out the sliding glass door and you are minutes away from the north beach.

For use in the garage are three bikes, a badminton set, and a kayak. The north beach of Lake Michigan is just one block from the house. It has a relaxing sandy beach and beautiful sunsets. You can walk the kayak to the lake and leave it on the beach during your stay. We also have a fire pit for all your s'mores and stargazing needs.

Make Mr. Moon's Cottage your home while on Beaver Island.

About Bryan and Becca Foli

We live in Champaign Illinois and have always vacationed in Michigan in the South Haven area. Four years ago we were introduced to Beaver Island and fell in love with it! We have been coming to the Island yearly with our three children.

Bryan and Becca Foli purchased this house in 2014

Why Bryan and Becca Foli chose Northern Michigan

The magic of Beaver Island was an experience we couldn't pass up, and buying a home was the next step. We are lucky to have a home in such a good location and with enough space to have all the family come and share in the fun.

What makes this house unique

There is another small cottage on the property that has a two bedroom apartment and can be rented as well. Being located between the town and the north beach is just perfect.

Bunco Babes visit Beaver Island

  • 5 of 5

There were 6 of us visiting for the weekend. None of us had ever been to Beaver Island. We got lucky and found Mr. Moon's Cottage. We loved it. Becca and Bryan picked us up from the airport and brought us to the house. They were as helpful as anyone could be. They gave us advice about where to hike and eat, rented us their car, and Becca met us at the bar and partied with us. The house was great. It was a short walk to everything in town, clean and comfortable. We plan to come back and will recommend this house to anyone who plans to visit. Everything about the house and visit exceeded our expectations!

Owner's Response: Hi Kay, You and the Bunco Babes (Beaver Babes) are welcome to come back anytime. I had a really nice time hanging out with you in the evening. Thank you for inviting me to crash your party. You have a lovely group of girlfriends; what a blessing. Lets stay in touch. I have been subbing at the school quite a bit and REALLY enjoy it. I hope our paths cross again in the future. Say hi to everyone for me! Becca

Wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

The house has everything needed for living, cooking, kayaking, etc. The neighbors are all very nice and offered us firewood daily. I give it 5 stars because the house and owners are wonderful. The other neighbors had a dog my kids loved to play with, the island is very dog friendly. There is no horseback riding on the island ( someone at the grocery store said there was) and the horse owners are not very friendly about being asked about it, so avoid that! The grocery store has limited hours as well so make sure you get there to get your food! They had a surprising amount of options though. The place next to the grocery store has great food -- all the other places serve frozen food that has been fried. We stayed almost 2 weeks and explored everything there was to see. Would be a perfect place to stay for someone wanting to write a book, or get away from it all for fishing and birding. Our kids had fun catching snakes and building beach fires.

Great location with plenty of space for the 4 of us.

  • 5 of 5

Had a great visit to Beaver Island over Labor Day weekend. The cottage is in an ideal location and a very short walk or bike ride from downtown and the beach. We had 2 couples staying and had plenty of space for all of us. It was great that bikes were provided because we did bike to a restaurant a little ways out of town for live music and to the lighthouse on the south side of the island. We also loved the kayaks.

The people on Beaver Island make the trip even more enjoyable. I have never traveled to a place where everyone is quite so friendly and we even made friends with some neighbors at the cottage and shared a beach bonfire.

We would all love to come back and visit again.

Loved it!

  • 4 of 5

Bryan met us at the boat dock, which was very appreciated. He drove my husband and I around a bit to show us the main areas. He gave us a little history of the island, and was very welcoming! We met his wife, Becca, at the Community Center. She was very sweet, and also shared info on the island.

The house needs a little work, but the fact that they had bikes and kayaks for use made up for it. It was great riding the bike everywhere! We loved sitting on the deck with a fire. The neighbor even offered some firewood for us to use.

The location of the house is perfect. Very close to everything, and the bikes made it very convenient to go on a beer run.

Bring DVDs for rainy days if you do not use Xbox live. Or, just play some games they have on hand.

When eating out, Circle M is a must. Tried it on Becca's recommendation, and was not disappointed. Dalewhinnies for breakfast or lunch, for sure.

I would definitely stay at Bryan and Becca's again. They are the perfect hosts. And please, stop by both museums. Great information!

Quiet and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We found the home quiet and comfortable. Plenty of space for grandparents, parents and kids. Enjoyed having a beach just across the back lots but also visited several other beaches. Everyone agrees they all equaled the Caribbean without the salt. We liked the great big deck and fire bowl and all the wildlife right in the yard. We made use of the bicycles to roam the area. Would love to come again.

Car: not necessary

Mr. Moon's cottage is one and a half blocks from the town and 2 blocks form the rustic north beach. You are just a short walk from everything the town has to offer. Some favorite places we like to visit while on the island are listed below.

Be sure to visit The Toy Museum, the owner Mary, has wonderful art for sale in her studio behind the museum. It is very affordable. Children love coming to the toy museum and digging through all the trinkets looking for treasures to take home.

The Island Treasures Thrift shop is a great place for all ages to find some good loot! Be sure to check out the 'barn' in the back that has larger items for sale.

Daddy Franks grill and ice cream store should also be on your list for at least one visit, if not daily for the ice cream lover.
