About Val and Renee Morel, 850 377 9130, info@SeaAndSkyRentals.com

About the Property Owners:

Our names are Lucretia and Bob. We currently are retired and live in South Carolina. Bob was an engineer and through employment assignments, we have been able to travel and live in many locations, both in USA and abroad. We spent several years in Dubai, UAE and Singapore. Lucretia is a native New Orleanian while Bob is originally from West Virginia. We were married at the St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter and lived previously ten years in Mandeville.

About the Managers:

The managers of the Mandeville Tree house, Renee and Val More, are also native New Orleanians and are readily available to assist you.

Why Val and Renee Morel, 850 377 9130, info@SeaAndSkyRentals.com chose Louisiana

Why Mandeville ?

Being born and raised in NOLA, Lucretia has always missed the Louisiana culture. Old Mandeville offers small town charm yet big city conveniences. We loved Old Mandeville when we lived here and love it even more now. The Mandeville Tree house is our return home cottage. We hope you will enjoy the Mandeville Tree house as much as we do.

What makes this cottage unique

Benefits of the home :

This home is located on the north shore in Historic Old Mandeville, just one short block from Lake Ponchartrain Lakefront. The Lakefront offers beautiful views and opportunities for walking, biking or just relaxing on the seawall. It also offers a playground and water fountain for children to play in. Numerous excellent restaurants are located within walking distance from the home. The St. Tammany Trace (bike trail) is nearby and the New Orleans French Quarter is an easy drive away. The home itself is in a beautiful setting, privately located within a grove of large oak trees. Enjoying refreshments on the covered front porch is very enjoyable.

Family Wedding

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at the Mandeville Treehouse. My family of six plus my son's girlfriend were in town five days for a family wedding. I was initially concerned about fitting comfortably in the two bedrooms with my four young adult children (ages 17-24) and then the girlfriend came along too, but it was no problem at all! The couch and air mattresses were perfect in the huge, open family room. Overall, it is a beautiful, well-appointed home. We enjoyed everything: the large deck for an extended family cookout, comfortable beds, great kitchen, large bathrooms, morning and evening walks on the lakefront, and convenience to everything! The price made this wonderful house affordable and much more comfortable than staying in two hotel rooms. For years, we've piled in at the relatives' house when we visited Mandeville, but no more. We will stay at the Treehouse from now on!

Would recommend staying here.....nice place, lots of space, great location!

  • 4 of 5

The ONLY reason this place didn't get the highest rating was due to the fact that there is NO way to sleep in if you are light-sensitive, because there are skylights in both bedrooms and in the living room (at least 15 feet above your head, so you cannot possibly cover them up at all.......now way, no how). So, if you are light-sensitive when it comes to sleeping, get ready to be up at the crack of dawn, or bring along a sleep mask!!

Otherwise, this place is truly fantastic!!! It could use some area rugs in the bedrooms to soften its presentation, but it's still super comfortable, as was the king sized bed.

Yes, the water was SUPER "eggy" the first night, even when you ran strictly the hot water for several minutes, but we never ever had that problem again the rest of our stay. No "eggy" smell after the first day at all, even though the smell was strong (sour) on the towels and face cloths (that's just Louisiana towels for you, though.....a product of the water used to wash clothing in this region of Louisiana.)

The location of this place could not POSSIBLY be better unless it was on the waterfront itself. SUCH a great location. You can easily walk to the waterfront about a block and a half away, and the park was close enough to keep my 2 year old busy when he got antsy.

We enjoyed our stay here, and would totally recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind being up early in the morning; if you DO mind being up early, simply come prepared with a sleep mask!

PS - A REALLY great local restaurant with authentic and fresh (and affordable) seafood is Mandeville Seafood Market. OMG.......scrumptious (I'm a native New Orleanian, so I know firsthand how authentic it is!)

La Lou (formerly called "the Broken Egg") was fantastic, too! SO cute and quaint with a great breakfast menu!

Owner's Response: We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Mandeville Treehouse and offered some restaurant recommendations. We also appreciate that you alerted us to the inconvenience that light from the bedroom skylights created. Since your stay we have installed skylight blinds on the skylights located in the bedrooms to eliminate this inconvenience. This should not be a issue in the future. We hope you will come back again soon.

Great location, comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

This area of Louisiana affords visitors an opportunity to experience & see a very interesting part of the state. Mandeville is a lovely and relaxing spot. It is quiet & beautiful with an abundance of moss covered ancient oak trees. The climate is pleasant & mild. The shore of Lake Pontchartrain is less than a block from the property & visitors can leisurely walk and enjoy the view of the water and numerous antebellum style homes along the shoreline. The property is located very conveniently to numerous excellent Louisiana/Cajun style restaurants. Should renters want to venture into New Orleans, it is close enough to drive for a day's excursion or for a special evening event. The house is comfortable & clean and has all the conveniences of home, and then some. Kitchen fully equipped should renters want to do any cooking. Porch sitting & sipping highly recommended.

Comfortable Home

  • 5 of 5

After a long trip,it was so nice coming into a house instead of a Motel. This house was clean with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. Our kids really enjoyed hanging out

on the front porch and fishing in the lake. We all enjoyed the good restaurants and

wonderful seafood. A fun vacation!
