Newly renovated 3 BR 2.5 BA single family home in one of the best neighborhoods in Washington, DC. The house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac off of beautiful Rittenhouse St., NW. Steps to the neighborhood Broad Branch Market and Lafayette Park, and .5 mile to Connecticut Ave. shops, restaurants, Safeway, Starbucks, etc.
The house is 1 mile from the Friendship Heights Metro station - a pretty walk or a brief bus ride on the E2 or E4 steps just from the house. Friendship Heights has the best shopping in the city -Tiffany, Cartier, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo and Gucci. It also has discount shops Nordstrom Rack, DSW, TJMaxx, Filene's Basement and everything in-between: Bloomingdales, Gap, JCrew, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers.
The house has three bedrooms and one full and one half bath upstairs plus a 3rd full bath in the basement. There is also an air mattress in the basement with the 3rd new bathroom with shower. Downstairs is a beautiful living room, separate dining room, newly renovated large kitchen, and back family room with Smart TV. The slate back patio has a table and chairs, grill and other patio furniture. Large, fully fenced backyard contains a trampoline, zipline, tree swing, hammock, basketball hoop and grill. Back garage on newly paved driveway leading out to network of alleys and quick escape to Lafayette park.
I live here otherwise so the drawers and closets are full. But with that, comes a full pantry with kitchen supplies and staples. It is a great house in a great spot and super fun for kids. FYI, there is a renter in the garage/studio apt. Very safe and quiet renter. Comes and goes through back of property.
I'm a CPA, born and raised in DC. I live in the home when not rented, so closets and drawers are full. However, kitchen staples, spices, detergent, etc. is all available for use. Overall it is a very neat, uncluttered and well kept home - it is just not sterile like a hotel.
I rent the back garage/studio. The renter is safe, polite, quiet and will come and go through the back of the property. You will likely not see the renter at all.
Susan Tanis purchased this house in 2012
House is very kid and pet friendly. Newly renovated. Great location!
House is set up for a family. Great outdoor space with lots of fun amenities to tire the kids. Newly renovated kitchen. Great house!
We enjoyed our stay and our host was very gracious. Neighborhood was gorgeous and an easy walk to a park nearby. Centrally located to lots of different DC area activities with minimal traffic. Not a lot nearby to walk to as far as markets, coffee shops, etc as it is deep into a residential neighborhood with lovely older traditional colonial homes and just gorgeous in the fall. The house has a trampoline that my kids loved. My only criticism is that it felt like we were imposing on the hosts home as it is very "lived in". Most homes we have stayed at on vrbo/homeaway/airbnb that rent (especially at this price) have a very professional/depersonalized accommodations when renting out an owner's own home. The owner had quite a bit of trust for her guests as her mail was left easily accessed, clothes/shoes/personal items weren't locked away, kids bathroom had all the kids items lining the tub (down to the princess shampoo my son used to wash his hair) and at two points, the host needed to come get personal items from the house she needed for herself/kids. This wasn't a big inconvenience at all but felt like we had "ousted" them from their own home and didn't feel quite comfortable there. Never had this feeling before at a vacation rental. Most places will try and minimize the personal exposure to the renter and this felt more like we were crashing their pad for a few days but at a much steeper price. Lovely home though and great location. Would highly recommend a nearby restaurant Silver as it has breakfast at all hours and is open late.
We recently completed a five night stay while in town for our son's wedding at nearby Woodend Sanctuary. The owner has created an place where visitors can truly feel at home amongst the hubbub of D.C. We shared our house with our daughter's family and it could not have been more suitable for our 8 yr. old grandson. He was able to be a kid here -- outdoor space to move & play with the added bonus of the trampoline, basketball hoop, and zip line. When we hosted a brunch for close family members after the wedding everyone was so complimentery of her house and our luck in finding such an ideal location.
This house was perfect for my family of four plus my father. The backyard provided hours of entertainment for my kids and the house was stocked with everything we could need. Not having closets wasn't a problem--Susan provides places to hang clothes. We had some questions while we there and Susan always responded quickly and was super helpful and a pleasure to work with! The neighborhood is gorgeous and very conveniently located near grocery stores, restaurants and other shopping. Thank you to Susan for making our trip so lovely!
Came to DC for a family wedding. 5 adults and our dog, loved staying here! Susie was easy to deal with and the home was comfortable and very welcoming. Our dog loved the backyard and I loved the swing.
I only needed a place to stay with secure parking for a motorcycle. What I found was a beautiful home minutes from Bethesda and a quick drive from downtown DC. The home is fully modern update with all the conveniences you would expect in a delightfully established neighborhood. "Storybook" almost does not do it justice.
The home is surrounded by trees providing comfortable to shade to sit and enjoy the backyard or front area on the cup de sac (which also provided an opportunity to meet the neighbors). This is an older home , so while it lacks the more airy, flowing layout of a recent build, it more than offsets this by being handsomely decorated, imminently comfortable. Not to over-praise, but there was nothing I found lacking in my stay here.
Located in a established area of Bethesda, you could spend an entire vacation happily wandering the local area and enjoying the peace and quiet of the neighborhood itself, but then DC is just a few minutes away. Each drive I took into town went straight through Georgetown and past the National Cathedral, so even the drive is pleasant and rewarding.
I would happily stay here again.
