Secluded Montana Mountain Cabin

Bedrooms 1
Space 165 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

Get away from it all at this cabin and camp site deep in the National Forest!

Get away from it all at this quaint, hideout cabin and camp site deep in the National Forest. 14 miles behind a locked gate on an old forest service road, you will find true solitude that is so hard to come by these days.

Starting late Spring, this is the perfect escape for the family. Ride ATV’s on the road, pick huckleberries, cook over the campfire, enjoy great views of the Mission Mountains and Deep Creek mountains, star gaze, or just enjoy the peace and quiet.

There is plenty of wildlife to see. The area holds elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, black bear, mountain lion, wolves, grouse, moose, and more!

The cabin is cozy and holds 2 bunk beds, 3 twin and 1 full bed. A propane heater is used to heat the cabin. The cabin has a small table inside, and a picnic table outside. There is no running water, but water is available from a nearby developed spring that puts out 3 gallons per minute of fresh, cold spring water. Plan to bring enough water depending on the length of your stay and number of guests. A 5th wheel or camper could be towed to the property during times of little snow. The grade of the road is not steep. There are many great locations to set up wall tents or other temporary dwellings to provide more sleeping locations.

Cellular coverage is available at the property. 1 or 2 bars of 3G data coverage is available (signal is weak but you can reliably get texts and phone calls out from the upper lookouts)

Medium or High Clearance Vehicle is recommended for the last mile of the road (Subaru Outback OK, Toyota Corolla could scrape underside on rocks)

Road grade is fine for smaller trailers and RV's. Contact us for more info on turn around locations.

We stayed at this property in late November 2017 for Elk Hunting!

The cabin is brand new with 4 bunk beds, new bedding a heater that keeps the cabin toasty warm and a generator for electric appliance needs.

The cabin location is extremely remote with tons of trails for unlimited enjoyment of the Montana Mountain Wilderness.

We are from Minnesota and our moose population has been in trouble for many years, with my last sighting of a moose in the wild taking place over 40 years ago in the Ely Area.

During our hunt we had multiple moose sightings of 2 different Bull Moose and 2 Cows plus opportunities for both Whitetail and Mule Deer Bucks.

We did not get a chance at a Bull Elk but have confidence that if the area would not have received 2 early heavy snowstorms, the elk herd would have remained on the mountain.

I have rented numerous properties out west for Elk Hunting and have been mislead by property owners, as to the amount of other hunters, amount of animals targeted available, condition of property, etc etc etc.

That did not happen here!

Everything was exactly as explained and our expectations where exceeded.... this is a place that we will return to again!

If you are looking for a remote mountain get away, with the family or friends this is an awesome place!

Eric & Jen where great to work with, answered all my questions promptly, and made schedule adjustments to meet us earlier than expected.
